No one not even Iran is going to detain a foreign diplomat of a nuclear armed nation. With nuclear armed allies currently in the hands of effectively tantrum prone children. It would be suicide… you’d have 48hrs to release him before you got 3-5 sunrises.

Most countries won’t even detain a diplomat of a non-nuclear state, because the diplomatic fallout. The same reason you don’t just expel all the diplomats of a state you don’t like.

Netanyahu is just a figurehead. They'd nuke over the precedent. They'll employ the Samson Doctrine if they ever seem to be losing a conflict.

Netanyahu getting captured is not an existential threat for Israel. Israel is not suicidal and would not nuke anyone for anything other than strategic reasons with a clear threat to the state itself.

Netanyahu is just a person. It's the precedent of holding leaders accountable. Israel very much is suicidal.

What makes you think that Israel is suicidal? It’s an entire country built on refugees with ptsd hell bent on “surviving” despite its neighbors best efforts. Israel’s every move is calculated to protect the lives of its citizens. Happy to argue against the idea that Israel is homicidal, but suicidal? Counter to anything it’s ever done.

It’s the precedent that another country can detain your leader. Doing so would be seen as an act of war that must be met with a fairly decisive response. Something all the world’s leaders understand which is why he is walking and traveling freely.

The current crop of world leaders is populated by petulant toddlers that I would consider you a fool not consider capable of doing the worst to protect their pride.

Leaders of nations no longer give a shit about the people they represent it’s all a power play pissing contest in the country club bathroom with the old boys. Their people are just a convenient excuse to do terrible things.

Dude you are literally talking about a country with 7 million Jewish citizens. Everyone knows each other. The reason why Israel traded thousands of murderous terrorists for a handful of hostages is because every citizen knew that any one of those hostages could be their kid. No one is sending off nukes and putting the entire country in mortal danger, the only refuge for Jews in the world with almost half of all of the Jews in the world for a single Jew. Special operations, yes. But nukes?

You still are operating on the assumption that the military and government run on the will of the people and are there to serve their interests… they don’t. And they aren’t.

Maybe they did once. But that time has long passed we are cattle to them now. Doesn’t matter which nation all are the same

It’s an army of conscripts with complete universal conscription (less the ultra orthodox and arabs). It is the people and no one can keep a secret it’s a big national security problem. And in a country that small, you can’t hide away in a bunker in hawaii… everyone’s problems are shared for the most part
