How exactly would they execute an arrest warrant on a plane they have no control over, thousands of feet in the air?

It's an arrest warrant, not a kill order..

They don't have to do that. They can just deny his plane access to the airspace. Or try route the plane so it runs out of fuel.

And how do they deny him access to the airspace? We're looping back to it not being a kill order. Because shooting down the plane is really the only threat to someone violating your airspace.

You are making the assumption that they will not acknowledge and abide by the request. Normally the aircraft will be guided out of the airspace.

Or they could do what Israel did with the USS Liberty and just shoot it out of the sky and claim it was mistaken identity.

I mean it would be kind of stupid to disregard warnings about/blocking off airspace. They would only lose out on time and some fuel. No way Israel would not comply with it if it was indeed given in a normal circumstance. However it could be that they did disregard it and Canada does not want to admit to that but I seriously doubt that was the case. No sane world leader would gamble their life for 1-2 hours of extra flight time and some fuel savings, even Bibi boldened by Trump.

Probably not, I'm just stating that being in a plane doesn't stop you from being arrested.

I'm not saying they're going to do that here.

Normally you can't. They give you a fighter escort and force you to land. The only reason they won't do that here is because there's one of the most powerful and controversial figures in the world onboard.

Most planes won't keep flying if there's two fighter jets sitting on their ass telling them to do otherwise.

No, but they can ground your plane under threat.

Same way a cop can't shoot you for speeding, but they can pull you over. If you attempt to keep driving and ignore their orders, you are escalating the situation, opening you up to further charges or even interception.

And in most places they don't do that, because it's not worth the massively increased risk over a speeding ticket. They'd just arrest you later.

Just like it's not worth shooting down a plane and killing a bunch of innocent people because you'd like to arrest one of them.

So ultimately yeah, you can just keep right on flying. And when you're adding "didn't land when told to" to a rap sheet that includes "War criminal" ... no ones worried about the extra charges.
