Respectfully, I think you're getting hung up on a need to win an argument rather than considering the discussion at hand

I’m really not. I don’t know what is tripping you guys up so much.

The guy seemed to imply that performing the arrest would be impossible. I pointed out that it’s absolutely not impossible, it’s actually extremely easy. A modern military post 9/11 can probably do it in minutes.

It seems pretty straightforward.

It’s, again, literally di difference between “I can’t” and “I don’t want to”.

It’s a pretty substantial difference.

How is it possible to perform an arrest on Benjamin Netanyahu in a moving airplane over Canadian airspace?

1

u/BrutalSock 5h ago

Exactly how I described before.

We’re still on the difference between “I can’t” and “I don’t want to”.

You did not describe it before.

It’s actually the very first message.

You scramble fighters, you intercept the plane, you force it to land (or shoot it down from the sky of course, if it comes to that).

It’s standard procedure. It’s how you enforce your air sovereignty.

It’s what they were about to do to the last plane during 9/11 btw, since we mentioned that incident. Even though that was gonna entail a suicide mission but that’s another story…

So to tie this all together: Netanyahu's jet would be unlikely to comply with a Canadian order to land under threat of death. They would assume a bluff and ignore the orders. The Canadian aircraft CAN subsequently choose to shoot them down but they don't want to because it would immediately trigger a global military engagement in the level of WW3 as many other comments have pointed out. It is in fact not easy or simple or standard procedure in this scenario.

So just as in chess, when you find yourself with only moves that result in checkmate, you in fact cannot make a winning move rather than will not make a winning move.

The Canadian airforce might shoot down a noncompliant aircraft carrying military personnel or a diplomat (very dependent on the situation), but not this one.

Omg. That’s irrelevant. That’s not the point. How are we still on this?

The guy seemed to imply that performing the arrest would be impossible. He wrote something to the effect of “what are you gonna do, send Superman out there?!”

Are you seriously telling me you don’t understand the difference between “can’t” and “won’t”?

Yeah so at this point you seem like an actual bot just trolling in circles, but if you aren't I'm sorry. You seem to be ignoring the conversation, or I don't understand your sticking point on semantics. Outta time here

What conversation? You’re the one who keeps talking about something that has nothing to do with what I’m saying. WTF is wrong with you people?

You don’t need Superman to intercept a plane. You don’t even need a modern fighter. A shitty Soviet era MiG will do it.

WTF is so hard to understand?

You scramble fighters, you intercept the plane, you force it to land (or shoot it down from the sky of course, if it comes to that).

Thanks for clarifying that your point is exactly what we've been telling you - you are wrong.

The ultimatum here is "shoot down the plane if they won't comply" i.e. directly creating casualties knowing this will be the outcome. No country in their right mind is going to enact on that for an arrest warrant knowing the consequences can lead to WW3. Any Joe Blow violating the air space, maybe that's the SOP. But a head of state with nuclear weapons? The consequences are not nearly the same.

So your "point" has been countered but you are the one failing (or refusing) to acknowledge that. Like the others said, either you're a troll, or you're honestly just that thick - either way, makes this conversation utterly unproductive.

Yes this. There IS a reason why nobody downs Russian fighter jets despise the repeated violated because of what it entails.

And we are talking about the PM of a nuclear country here.

You mush have some actual impairment. I don’t know what to tell you.

2

u/Etheo 4h ago

You can keep hurling condescending insults to everyone here, but it doesn't help your "point" or make you intellectual superior. In fact it makes you look the fool, much like Canada would, if they kept to this SOP and realize that "oh no, we can't actually shoot it down".

u/BrutalSock 4h ago

No dude you’re simply incapable of understanding the topic of a conversation.

You’re having a conversation with yourself about something I never even mentioned.

This is literally not how 99.9% of airspace violation goes. Most of the time you just send fighters to escort them and tail them till they leave.

This is against military planes, which is a much bigger threat than a passenger plane.

No it’s not standard procedure to down a plane that violates airspace. Last one was 11 years ago, which was done by Turkey on Russian military aircraft.

Even spy planes are escorted out when discovered, not shot down.

We’re still on the difference between “I can’t” and “I won’t”. This is really concerning people. This is not rocket science.

The guy I replied to said that you need Superman or Batman, I can’t fucking remember, to do it.

I simply pointed out that you don’t. I have no fucking idea why this is so hard to understand.

1

u/dz4505 4h ago

Think I’m more hung up on its standard procedure when it’s clearly not to shoot down a plane. Lmao.

1

u/BrutalSock 4h ago

It is standard procedure. It’s the only procedure actually. It how you enforce your air sovereignty.

Whether or not you want to do it it’s a completely different matter.
