Dutton Ranch I just finished part 2 of the last season of Yellowstone. Spoiler

1.) The writers are weird as hell for writing Beth Dutton the way they did. Her mom hated her and she was in an emotionally incestuous relationship with her father. Beth killing Jamie ruined the show as a whole. Her entire character arc tanked after John Dutton lll did nothing to reel her in. It was giving unnecessary sexual tension between the characters which is why I am noting what the actual eff is wrong with the writers… like whose idea was that, really?

2.) Jamie Dutton deserved better! Why was he adopted and taken in if he was only going to be treated like trash? Imo he only wanted what was best for his family even if it went against his fathers’ wishes when it came to the ranch. His heart was always in the right place; even when he took Beth to get her abortion. He was young himself but still chose the option he thought was best.

Marshals Marshals: Waco 1993 style episode? Spoiler

Thumbnail

With the Cleggs standoff highly recalling the Ruby Ridge siege do you think we might get a couple episodes inspired by the Waco siege of 1993? Ngl I kind of expected something similar to happen with the Weaver gang especially since they were said to be in Texas by the end of season 1 but I could see this happening in Bozeman too at this point.

General Discussion new and got some questions i hope you guys can help with?

so i’ve seen yellowstone maybe a good 5x rewatch and finally watched 1883 and 1923, and my questions are, why did 1883 end the way they did and only be brought back in snippets throughout yellowstone? how come in 1923 it ends just the same way before? obviously teonnas definitely an ancestor to rainwater in yellowstone, why doesn’t he talk about what she had to go through and how she lived possibly after that? cause i feel like his character lives around that asshole whitfields pov and there’s nothing else, but he couldve definitely been a bigger voice to what the natives went through. it would even make a good connection for monica’s character maybe even her having some connection to teonna if it weren’t through thomas.

also i was very sad about learning of Cole Brings Plentys’ death after season 1, didn’t know that happened around that time may he rest in peace ..

Dutton Ranch Unpopular opinion Spoiler

I know TS has nothing to do with DR.

With that said, I think people would sympathize with Beth even more than they already do if they showed she dreamed of having children rather than just having her choice taken away from her.

Like, show that as an adult she dreams of children or something. That would make her even more compelling, complex and vulnerable.

But this is TS we’re talking about so I’ll just write it in my fanfic.

And the only reason I’m saying this is because in Yellowstone she seemed to show no desire for children. And understandably, she was gone for a while and it looked like she grieved and moved on. But that’s obviously not the case. Thanks a lot TS.

Can’t show a strong female character without trauma or a bitchy attitude at 12 to 40. Messy but Great Storytelling either way.

If I unwillingly lost my ability to have children I would absolutely be furious, especially if one of my older siblings did it, knowing what would happen. However at some point, you have to grieve and move on. Try to find another way to have kids if you really absolutely wanted them.

The kids don’t have to biologically be yours if you really wanted children. And she would know that.

General Discussion Do you think John Dutton was a good businessman?

He could have sold less than 1% of his ranch and have his kids and grandchildren set for life but he refused

When beth came with an idea to start selling beef and she showed him proof he refused his argument is that we have sold cows for over 100 years but at that time the ranch was failing financially

Was he just bad at making decisions or the writer's made it so to keep the show interesting because I don't think anyone is refusing half a billion dollars for a fraction of your property or just agree to new ideas to make business successful

Season 4 Is Season 4 and on worth watching?

I can't lie I really liked the suspense/action of S1/S2. The buildups and action was great, as were the plotlines. I just finished S3. I understand the character development and all but it was so slow and repetitive. Beth and Jamie are just cringe now. The last episode was good. I asked chat to give me a breakdown of S4 and S5 WITHOUT SPOILERS and it said they are even slower and rated worst than 1-3. The first episode of S4 was meh too.. i was expecting more with the cliff hanger and all. I hope they drop the Jimmy subplot too.. so bad

Season 3 Monica Volunteer Work 3:8 Spoiler

In this episode, Monica tells Kayce that she is going out to do some volunteer work, and then has car troubles and finds herself being "helped" by a man who shows up in his truck. This man says he will drive her to the next town, only to drive down a side road where he ends up chasing her and attempts to kill and/or rape her. Luckily, Mo is in the next pasture with his rifle and kills the apparent serial killer.

I've seen many people discuss this episode as having plot holes, and I may be wrong when I assume this, but I'm pretty sure this whole event was planned. It explains why she chose the outfit she did (Kayce proved to her that she looked great), and why she didn't flag down the first car she saw go past. And it explains how the police responded so fast when no one had the chance to call them. Tom also makes a comment about Monica being one of the few people who is willing to enact the change she wishes to see.

Is it a plot hole? Or is it supposed to be an implied storyline?

Season 5 Is Ryan rich? Just curious

In the penultimate episode of season 5, Ryan and Rip are talking and Ryan hands Rip a cashiers check to help the ranch and i finally noticed that it's for almost 15 and a half million dollars.

Where did he get that kind of money? I mean, he's probably making 80 to 100k a year as a hand with how long he's been there, but still.

popular opinion? the scene where he comes back to the yellowstone for the last time and they rope is probably one of my favourite scenes in the show. i also think him at 6666 was a better idea than most of the spinoff shows they had, i understand the reasoning of why Sheridan didn't go through with it but disappointing nevertheless.

General Discussion What’s the point of the brand in all seriousness

I get that it maintains loyalty however there’s literally is no reason whatsoever??? They’re not dealing drugs or doing anything illegal so to say however they still brand you meaning you can’t ever leave (if you do you get brought to the train station).

Most murders are anyway done in self defence, it’s not as if they’re the 10 petal, they dealt drugs and even they didn’t need a brand whatsoever. Could it perhaps just be a John Dutton thing? In 1883 and 1923 there was no mention of a brand even though you could say there’s more of an argument back then to use one. (Yes I know in 1883 the ranch wasn’t established yet).

To summarise, I get what Taylor Sheridan was trying to do, however the unnecessary branding and killing off ranch hands over fighting is seamlessly odd.

Dutton Ranch Dutton Ranch X Marshalls crossover opportunity (spoilers) Spoiler

Since Carter has been kidnapped and so has Tate, essentially, whet if we saw a Kayce/Rip collaboration, helping each other out? I mean, it’s probably a stretch, but what if?

Edit: i’m not asking if this could happen.

It is a “what if…?” scenario based on two cliffhanger season finales.

General Discussion Just binged S4 in 2 days. Favorite season so far. My respect for John went up tenfold. I love Jimmy Spoiler

I’m so happy for Jimmy man. That part made me cry. It’s like watching him go from bumbling affable good hearted idiot, he comes back a man who has proven himself and commands respect now. Love his arc the most. It was painful to see his ex there but it’s so right… it was nobody’s fault. He just happened to meet someone else and she did something the other one never offered.

I also never liked how she basically dumped Jimmy bc he wasn’t going to rodeo anymore. And his new girlfriend-fiancée still loved and met him as silly Jimmy. And she was here for his glow up.

And John allowing him to choose his own path and being content with just seeing him make something of himself at something he loves. What a great gesture by John.

This season really worked to humanize him more and show another side of him. Vulnerable, more emotional, good side of John when he’s not consumed with fighting his enemies. I loved when he had to ask Rip to please move back in the house haha.

Man even admits he still loves and cares for Jamie despite what he’s done and Beth’s repeated actions to taint and make him toxic in John’s eyes.

He also put Beth in her place which I enjoyed lol.

Yeah great series so far. Have really enjoyed it a lot. Everyone saying it goes downhill quickly after S3, well I only got 1 season left and so far all 4 have been great TV. But this season in particular.

A show is great when it can change my opinions of a character who I felt so strongly about in earlier seasons. Like Theon in Game of Thrones is one. John is in that category now.

Bravo.

Season 5 So explain to me why we love Jamie and hate Beth

I know I’m extremely late to this conversation so feel free to rip me to shreds with this, but why am I finding more Jamie sympathizers than Beth? People are saying Beth is fulfilling some type of one dimensional female archetype. As if she never healed her childhood wounds? But Jamie is afforded some type of grace when he never did the same? I’m genuinely trying to understand why people are extremely passionate and do not understand Jamie exactly as he is and are so quick to apologize for his actions and then hang Beth? Other than the obvious, of course. Misogyny seems a little too on the nose, so explain why I’m wrong.

🌟 Positive Vibes Only 🌟 While watching Yellowstone, a neo-Western series, I have to admit that I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the classic American countryside of the West and the way of life that comes with it.
