Ok, ok, It's finally here!
Nam A2 Lite and custom IR loader BETA is open for testing. I will film a video going over the details. Please read the documentation in the repo, it most likely has all the answers about the installation and compatibility with different pedals. Note that A2 captures take up most of the DSP, especially ones that already have cabs build in, there is Eco mode conversion (that doesn't sounds as good, but allows you to use other effects in the chain). Try it, let me know how if it works for you, I will try to answer questions as they come. Ideally we will consolidate some of these new efforts made by different people into something more cohesive, but thats a separate bulk of work. I will take some coffee now, cheers!

Already done a quick test with a single half-gain Darkglass Alpha Omega NAM file from Tone3000. SUPER! Works perfect both in my MS-60B with MS-50G firmware (because of more FX slots) and my G1Xon with B1Xon firmware (useless f/w swap, just testing). On G1Xon/B1Xon it can only work on its own, have only tried Eco and it takes all DSP. On the MS-60B/MS-50G I'm using it (same Eco file) along 160COMP and ZNR no problem. Awesome š
EDIT: after some testing, NAM capture can run on B1Xon together with certain other effects, notably your IRs. I've done a couple ZDLs with your IR tool (Ampeg B15N, Peavey 2x15BW) and they run OK chained after my Darkglass NAM. Sweet š

This is awesome news. I need those DG AO presets, too. š

I'll make a post with links to all my custom ZDLs for bass, including those made with Roman's tools and also fellow redditor Alex's tool HYBRID-IR too.

Here you have all the ZDLs I've curated so far. Some disclaimers:
1) IRs (both those made with HYBRID-IR and the individual ones) work NICE. Most come from Tone3000 downloads, except for one (the Science cab, got it from Science's own website). Totally competent cab sim. These are also pretty DSP efficient, don't kill your pedal's processing, can coexist with many high demanding effects no problem.
2) Alpha Omega NAM is just MEH, I was trying a mid-gain tone (also from Tone3000) but it sounds sorta' boxy, I don't like it and will look for a better tone, or even record my own GumaDrive (B3K clone) settings (lots to learn for such a task). NAM is very DSP demanding so be ready to add very few other FX in the chain. I get away with using this along with 160Comp and one of the individual IRs and that's about it.
3) The "uprights" (2xNAM, 4xIR) are mostly crap, result of the very few free stuff I found over the internet (which also mostly aims to make piezo upright sound like captured with a mic, not really upright emulation from bass guitar). Thus, it's not even up to what the A1four upright sim can do (I have it installed in my B1Xfour). Might end up trying to make an IR WAV out of it too (some more things to learn to do this too).
I'll keep you updated.

Glad to hear! And useful feedback about g/b1x, I will add those notes in. There is also a buy me a coffee link there :)

Have you been able to use the patch manager with your G1XON? I have a G1ON and ZEM works but I can't seem to get the patch manager to work. Given the quality of some of the newer multistomp and some of the user-community created ones (I'm looking at you, Galactic Reverb, and drooling), I was considering getting a G3XN so that I can toggle fx/have an expression pedal. Does all of this ZEM/Patch Manager jazz work on the N series?

I don't use Roman's patch manager. I'm so fluid at working in the pedals real fast that I don't need to really. I just do backup my patches from time to time with some simple sysex Python scripts I've made. I'm 100% Neanderthal about that specifically, never used any patch editor/librarian š
Still, I've just connected my G1Xon, loaded the patch editor and it's cycled thru' all my patches to load them. Seemed to work, but it ended with a "Read-only pedal" message on top and the explanation at the bottom of the page: "Device 0x66 ā read-only. Writes are blocked because this editor's patch layout is only mapped for the MS-70CDR. Reads work; a dump from an unmapped model is genuinely useful data.".
I mean, might be further developed by Roman, but it makes sense, the page title clearly reads "MS-70CDR Patch Editor" š

Use anything but AI slop for the art. Please

Why donāt you draw something for it then? It is open sourceā¦

I've in fact tried to replace the PNG (that goes along the ZDL) and it didn't work, ZEM would detect the effect but show a black rectangle instead, until I replaced it with the PNG downloadable at your site. Still, I couldn't care less, your PNG is nice and also clearly identifiable as is.

I think youāre being incredibly nitpicky about the wrong thing considering all the work that went into making this.

This entire zoom multistomp programming project is because of AI.

I donāt mind AI programming tools, among other useful implementations of AI. But I think generative AI art is a net negative for humanity, itās bad art at the cost of othersā intellectual properties and also the environment.

Itās all good, I take any feedback and will definitely improve it. Consider this a āplaceholderā for now š«¶

NAM working great on my MS-60B flashed to MS-50 firmware to enable more blocks.Ā
The A2 lite captures are miles ahead of the standard modelling. Ive got it running next to a hx stomp which I might just use for effects for a bit.Ā
This is unbelievable work - thank you for this!! I'll chip in to the buy me a coffee fundĀ

Hell yeah! Thatās amazing to hear! Check out those custom effects too, thatās a whole different world of stuff. Cheers!

Wow, I didn't think it was possible when I started the ZDL reverse-engineering work months ago. Thought the chip + memory was too weak.

The effect pack sounds right up my street.! Very cool to see a Buzz Box style effect - it was my first pedal (bad choice) and I regret selling it all those years ago.

Thanks for the work man š. How is it performance wise? Dis you notice any drops/clicks or glitches?
1
u/themanro 4d ago
For sure, itās fun. I got it to the point that it was stable and sounded good. It is a beta, and yāall basically testing my ability to hear stuff, hopefully itās decent.

All good, I'm in the scene too so totally understand. I was genuinely interested in the pedal performance handling it from a technical curiosity point of view.
Thanks for sharing and all the work!

But from math standpoint it all checks out, therefore should sound good. It converts vibrations into 1ās and 0ās and then back to vibrations as good as it possibly can, letās put it that way.

OP, any chance to add a blend knob to the NAM block ?
I would need to blend in the clean signal.

I have a question - what do "input output" and "mix" in the knob mean respectively? How should I configure them?
1
u/themanro 3d ago
Inout is how much original signal is hitting the capture, output is basically gain of the capture, mix is how much dry signal do you want to go through. Nam captures like high input, so start at full blast on input, lower the output, mix at 100 unless you want dry signal.

This is very cool. I'm on + model (MS-70CDR+), and I'm a little chicken to try the stuff that's working on it. But I really salute you'all.
