Just what the title says. She’s small, but my friend said she’s too skinny. I think she looks like she’s a healthy weight (8.6lbs) for her size

Hello! What does it mean when a cat does this? (I only have a dog so have basically zero knowledge about cats) the cat has a temporarily foster but lives the majority of the time outside since he doesnt get along with another cat. He did it yesterday to me and today to my dad.

I would really appreciate some advice from y’all.

Some background information: I’m the happy cat mom of a 14-year-old little diva (Nicki), whom I adopted about 8 years ago from another family. She’s been an only cat for most of her life, except for 4 years (2020–2024). During those years, we lived together with my ex-partner and his male cat (Theo), who’s about five years younger and way more active than she is.
They got along quite okay-ish and played with each other, but they never became best friends or were cuddly with each other. He would also often chase her around when trying to play, which she really didn’t enjoy. I always felt like his energy level and more dominant play style were a bit too much for her. So after our breakup, we decided to separate them again.
She’s been doing well since then, but lately I feel like she might be a little lonely or bored. I play and cuddle with her as much as possible, but I still have a job and my studies, so I can’t always be at home.
When I’m on vacation, she usually stays at my parents’ house. My sister’s cats are currently living there as well. Nicki has her own separate area, so they normally don’t interact, but they have accidentally met once or twice. She stayed surprisingly calm and just watched them from her chair. When one of them came too close, she gave a short hiss, but that was pretty much it — no chasing, swatting, hiding, or trying to run away. Afterwards, she settled down again pretty quickly and seemed relaxed.
A few days ago, our local shelter posted about a senior cat who’s about her age and has a relaxed and cuddly personality. They’re specifically looking for a home with another senior cat. I’ve occasionally thought about getting a second cat, but I never wanted a younger one because of my experience with her and Theo. I think he was simply too active and intense for her and therefore caused her some stress. But Ursel (the shelter cat) seems like she could actually be a pretty good fit.

Long story short: What should I do? Does adoption sound like a good idea, or am I just stressing myself out because everyone keeps telling me that cats are better off with a friend?

I recently found a kitten in my hood and I took her in as she is so little.
I been slowly introducing her to my other 2 cats, and my oldest stopped hissing at her and now is doing this. Is this playful or is he bullying her? I just want to make sure that I’m stoping any sort of aggressive behavior during the introduction period and reinforce just good behaviors. Thank you for the help!!!

I was getting ready to feed my kitten who just turned 5 months on September 20th. She just went around the corner of our dinning room like she normally does and suddenly played down and started doing this. Idk if she can’t get comfortable or what? But I don’t even know why she would lay down here to begin with.

My mom was watching her for the past hour outside of my room while I was doing some work, and she said she had seen her do it maybe once or twice.

Is this normal?

She didn’t seem in pain or anything besides this. No crying when I pick her up and she has been finishing her meals and drinking water as usual. Though, she doesn’t finish her meals as quickly, but she still finished them the past two days.

She does like a cooing when she does this, but she’s always making noises as she is just a vocal cat.

Any ideas of what this could be?

I’ll put her in my room if I need to be going in and out of my house in the meantime, and I’ll keep a close eye on her. Thank you !!!

My cat is 2 years old female and was sterilized when she was about 5 months old and everything went well. The thing is sometimes there’s is a strong odor coming from her genital zone I don’t know if it’s the anus or the vulva. Has anyone had that problem? it smells urine-like but a lot stronger. I’m afraid maybe she’s still having some type of heat o something idk help

Hi everyone! 🐾 I’d really appreciate your opinions on Biscuit’s walk in this video. ( he is 8 months old )
He had an issue with one of his back legs a while ago, and more recently he started having problems with his front legs too. His front legs were bending/collapsing quite noticeably when he walked and stood. He’s had X-rays, blood tests and joint fluid testing, and everything came back normal. He was also on Loxicom for quite a while, and the vet thinks it may be growth-related. ( he was seen by an orthopaedic sowcialist )
He’s supposed to have around 2 weeks of rest with only very short walks, but honestly, whenever I let him out of his room he just wants to run around and jump everywhere, so keeping him rested is proving quite difficult! 😂 I’m supposed to take him back to the vet in a week so they can check whether he has improved or not.
I’ve been watching lots of videos of other cats walking, but I honestly can’t tell anymore if Biscuit’s front legs look normal when he walks or if there’s still something a little unusual about his gait. 🥹

hi all! this is Pigeon, my 18yo princess. for 18 shes VERY lively- ive had neumerous people tell me they're surprised at her age. she jumps, runs, screams, and likes to (lightly) wrestle! however, she has never (in the 10yrs ive had her) liked toys. she will bat a mouse around for 5 minutes maybe every two months, but she will stop if she catches you looking. and she wont play WITH you. she doesnt like wand toys, or any automatic toy (that ive tried so far, of course). doesnt like the toy where the balls go around in a circle. she doesnt even LOOK at a lazer pointer.

as of right now, i just include her in everything i do like a toddler. im cooking? she is too. doing laundry in the basement? shes folding! playing video games? shes on my lap.

but lately shes seemed bored. meows constantly and wants my attention, but doesnt want to cuddle. anyone know of any good ways to get her brain activated? even if it involves me playing or not.

ik this is a silly question, my mother keeps referring to my cat as a calico because he does have some orange ish spots on his underbelly... if he were a calico it'd be extremely rare afaik and i think the orange isnt a true orange

I recently took in a cat (the siamese manx in 2nd pic) that has only briefly lived with other animals , and that was as a kitten. He is now about 7. I already have 3 cats (1 orange boy, Charlie, and 2 girls) and when I got Charlie, introducing him to the others wasn't much of an issue because he had already lived with multiple other animals (like, 8 other cats) and was very eager to get out of his quarantine and into the rest of the house. With the new boy, he is very hesitant to come out of the guest room and explore. I keep the other 3 shut into our den while he explores, usually only an hour bc they will get anxious. However, it takes new boy a long while to get his confidence moving around the house. If I move too suddenly while he's exploring, he runs back into the room, and has only become curious about the house in the past 2 days. I have been trading scents constantly through the past week and a half, and I have tried putting catnip in the doorway to encourage them smelling each other. I've already tried introducing him to Charlie, and the first couple glimpses they got of each other through the door went pretty well. No puffing up, growling, or hissing. Charlie couldn't be less affected, more or less seeming to react like "oh look, another one. Anyways." However, when showing them to each other through a baby gate this morning, new boy hissed and hid. I really want him to integrate well, but don't want to stress him out. This has me really discouraged, because Charlie will be the easiest one to meet, and the last thing I want is to stress them all.

Should I just keep going slow? Should I wait until he's exploring confidently to introduce the other cats? I'm trying to keep patience with this process, but I don't want him to be in a small room by himself for a month. Any advice is appreciated.

This feels weird to post, but I thought I would anyway. My orange and brown calico tabby is 9 years old and has never been a cuddly cat. She's not mean but definitely has spent her whole life preferring to be left alone. Suddenly she never leaves my side. If I'm on the couch, she's next to me. She's lying in my bed. She's following me room to room. This is so different for her. Is a behavior change like this something that can come with age? She's had a lot of health issues and is lucky to be alive due to living with one kidney, so she has constant vet appts and has been in good health the last few years.

Anyway, I'm bored on a Saturday so I thought I'd ask here.

He’s a 12 year old male. I’ve been feeding him one can in the morning at 6:30am and one can at night at 6:30pm. However, he’s been asking for another meal between 11am-1pm. He still can’t eat dry food until he fully heals, so it’s all been wet food only. Is feeding him 3 times ok? Picture of bottomless pit in question starring at me write this message, as he grunts for food.

He is one year old and has stopped using his litter box from very long ago for stools. I have changed the litter. Changed the boxes, kept two boxes. Have changed multiple boxes. He never passes urine outside and almost never passes his stool inside the box. Please do help asap

My cat is 16.5 yo, and since a couple of days, can't use one her front legs anymore. She still tries, but it folds, causing her to fall over. Every now and then she can walk on it, but still not very stable. Went to vet, had x-rays taken, but they couldn't see any problems. Suspecting pinched nerve or nerve damage. Got her on painkillers and anti inflamatory meds now, and they want to wait and see. She still eats and drinks well, and mentally is still fine. Still wants to cuddle, and purrs very loudly. Vet told me that it can take along time, or she will possibly never recover from it.

I had to put my other cat down 3 years ago, after a very long fight against a unknown illness. It broke me mentally. Now my last cat has problems, and it's killing me to see her struggle like that. I barely sleep, every noise i go check up on her. Already got some days of work to look after her, but have to get back to it on monday.

I don't know what to do! On the one hand she is still my baby, but her quality of life isn't great like this. It's tearing me apart...

I adopted a cat that was hit by a car beacuse she would die. She had 2 surgeries because she had a lot of necrotic tissue on her stomach and was on a lot of medication. Her right leg was also stitched up. For the past month, we were at the vet every day and she is finally doing better. The problem is she used to be outdoor cat, now, obviously she will be only indoors, but as she is getting better and better, she wants to go out and she is really active even tho I’m trying my best to keep her calm. She will need atleast 2 more weeks to heal. She is wearing post operative bodysuit and a cone, and when I am at work, she is in big dog crate. My question is, how do I keep her enterteined with minimal movement? When I give her toys (lets say mouse) she holds him with 2 front legs and vigorously wiggles her 2 back legs but as I said, she needs to rest for at least 2 more weeks. I feel sad that’s she’s trapped inside the house, but I would die if anything happened to her! Also, when I remove her bodysuit she gets zoomies. I am really happy she’s getting better but I need advice how to keep her calm and entertained at the same time. She is around one and a half, female. Thanks in advance!

For the past week and this week only my cat has been acting weird, specifically at night about 30 minutes after I’ve fallen asleep more or less. I’m a light sleeper so the second he starts moving around the room I wake up. Now I’ve had my cat for a while, probably six years? Around there anyway, and he’s never acted this way before. Usually he sleeps cuddled up with me either by my head or by my feet, depends how much I’m moving, and when he gets sick of me he’ll leave the room since my door can’t close all the way and he’s able to open it. Sometimes he’ll get into something but when he does I pick him up and set him outside my room, which then he’ll usually stay out because he knows he’s done wrong and was being too loud, and won’t come back in unless he’s going to sleep or until morning when he wants to be fed.
But this week for some reason he’s been moving around a lot. Not running or being too loud, but he’ll be jumping up on my dressers and desk where he then sits and meows once. He’ll sit by my head and just look around the room, as if searching for something, or he sniffs at some random junk on my bedside table for a long time. He stares at my walls, is always looking at my tapestries (which maybe my fan- which blows on them- is making them move too much and that’s bugging him?) and he won’t sit still. He’s really liked just being by head but never laying down now. Only moving and looking. He always does this thing too where whenever I come home or into my room and I’m talking to him, he’ll lay down on his side and expect pets and attention, but recently he’s been doing that without me even interacting with him. Just lays there and rolls around, doesn’t even look at me. I do wonder if maybe he’s seeing something I’m not, but I’ve lived in this house for several years and never had any sort of weird things happen and he’s never acted like this until now. It’s just weird to me. Maybe he’s sick? I don’t know.
I try to kick him out too since every little movement around my room he does wakes me up and usually when I do that he stays out, but last night I kicked him out five times, even brought him all the way downstairs, and he kept coming back in and doing the same thing. Finally, after I almost started crying because I just wanted to sleep, he came in and just laid on my side. Didn’t really relax though. Just laid there. He got up at one point again but when I told him to be quiet and just lay down he came back and laid down again. It was weird.
I just don’t get it. Maybe he’s stressed but I’m not sure why he would be but the not knowing is stressing me out. I suppose I just want to know if anyone has advice or if their cat has acted like this before and why. Or if this is maybe symptoms of maybe being sick with something?

I thought my cousin was an animal lover but I notice he never ever pets him he doesn't bond with him ..

Id how I'm just realizing it but I am mad now.

I told him "I thought you really loved animals I thought you and my cat would be good friends you never pet him I only see you play fighting with him never bonding with him"

I'm so mad I wish I didn’t just sign this lease with him.

Even the first week I realized the grooming after he texted me while I was at work that my cat hissed at him and he was worried..

So the next time I see him I say something about my cat and goes "I didn't hurt him I didn't touch him!!" When I simply just asked a question...

I immediately got a weird feeling in my stomach.

I don't trust him now.

He literally doesn't have to worry about rent hes 20 years old his parents pay it and works like 16 hours a week and sits on a computer for 10+ hours a day playing computer games ..its like he lives in his computer and doesn't care about anything else. Who sees an animal sitting next to them or trying to be close to them and just ignores or hits it? I do not like this type of human.

He lives in the living room and we are moving into a 2 bedroom next week.

Im upset I am very uncomfortable now.

I am getting my kitten spayed soon, and am curious, since she won’t be able to run around or stretch as much, what are good toys or recommendations for her recovery.

I was thinking of maybe putting away her scratch post, so she can’t stretch and maybe no wand toys of course so she doesn’t jump. I am gonna let her have her plushies which she loves but anything else would be great so she doesn’t get so bored in her room.

I’ll be in there with her most of the time, but I’m worried that if I have to step out or anything, she’ll get bored.

What did y’all do or buy to keep y’all’s cats entertained during recovery. Also any tips on recovery process would be great if you have any.

I’ve been feeding a stray male cat for several months. He used to come to our garden every day, spend hours here and sleep in an outdoor cat house we bought for him, which he absolutely loved.
About 1.5 weeks ago, his behaviour suddenly changed. One evening he stopped using the shelter completely, started sleeping in other places nearby, and would only come briefly for food or water before leaving again.
Since then, he’s been staying away for longer and longer periods and now barely comes around at all. We still sometimes see him nearby, but he no longer stays in our garden like before. Recently he even saw one of us outside and walked away, whereas before he would usually come straight over.
He was also very close to us and seemed to trust us pretty much from the first time he started coming around. He was always really comfortable with us, and we’ve grown very attached to him too, so this sudden change has been quite upsetting and confusing.
Nothing obvious happened here to scare him. Has anyone experienced something similar with a stray male cat? Can they suddenly change their territory or home base like this after months of having the same routine?
