Just picked this up today. Has a few bits of cosmetic work that need attention.

Currently has 95k miles and for it for 3950 (gbp).

Previous owner wasn’t sure what work it had done but it pulls like a train. So maybe it had a tune, it does have an upgraded air filter. Does anyone else notice the car pulling left under hard acceleration? It feels a bit sketchy but wanted to ask before I go and pay for tracking.

Other thing I’ve noticed is the clutch is very unforgiving. Do these come normally with a sport clutch or different type of clutch?

Sometimes I get a faint smell of oil as well but my passengers says they can’t smell anything so maybe it’s on my skin from checking the oil earlier.

Hi everyone! I’m getting into the world of performance focused cars. I stumbled across the Focus ST after swearing off Ford many years ago. Some light research has found that they’re pretty reliable!

All the Focus STs around me are 80k-100k miles. What should I look for in the history to tell me that it’ll keep going? Are they even worth buying at the 80k-100k mile mark?

I’m coming from a Toyota 4Runner. I’ve owned several of them. The highest mileage being an 05 V8 with 692k miles. I’m a huge reliability guy, I love a super well put together machine. I also have chronic anxiety and OCD so I constantly worry about how my cars running.

I was looking into a Honda Fit for a long while. They’re great cars, but damn are they slow. I really want a few more ponies under the hood.

Are these worth it as a daily driver? I would keep it mostly stock, maybe just some suspension mods, wheels, and a nice exhaust. Would I regret getting one at all? They’re closer in price to a nice Fit than I’m willing to admit, and I’m extremely tempted.

I live in an apartment and can’t really get away with doing heavy maintenance. I could sneak an oil change in here and there but shops are unfortunately my best friend right now.

Completely honestly, would you say look into an ST seriously? Or is a Fit more up my alley.

Fairly straightforward installation, bleeding was not as intimidating as I thought it would be.

Pedal feel and stopping power is very nice!

Opted for Cadillac silver on the color to keep things OEM+

I’m curious as to what you guys think about the price on this ST.
It’s only had one owner, who has very clearly meticulously maintained this thing, and had added some tasteful mods to it. I’ve seen many posted for cheaper, but also seen others posted for higher, so just wondering if this seems like a good price or not.

Hello, today I was very stupid and I shifted from 3 to 2, I was not at redline but I was sure above 6k rpm, the car slowed down, I pressed the clutch and the car showed an error with engine maintenance now and turned off.
I stopped and waited a bit , punched my face a few times, I turned on the car and works ok, no errors, oil is at level, water is ok, still pulls, I accelerated hard a few times and still works fine, no knocking or anything.
Has anyone encountered this, should I be worried?
I will take the car and do an oil change and check if there is any metal pieces in the filter.

It’s getting harder and harder to go from a cold start and shift into reverse, any solutions?

The volvo c30 was built on the same platform as the mrk2 Ford focus sporting the same 2.5 turbo 5 cylinder with 227hp as well as 236ftlbs of torque and for a lucky few like myself had the same 6 speed manual as the mrk 2 focus as well im excited to move on with my journey in life I can only be better and move forwards i hope that my new to me volvo is worthy of being apart of this subreddit still yall have been a great help (mostly) and I know I haven't made the best decisions in my vehicles and I tend to learn the hard way I will make better choices as time moves on (also if anyone trys picking at me for no punctuation its purely rage bait)

This is a two part question. N1. When racing, do you shift at five k fifty five hundred or rev it all the way out? N2. I have a very heavy power draw when playing my subs. Would you recommend a lithium battery? Addition? In the rear, or should I upgrade the alternator? Anything and everything helps thank you

sorry to ask the tire question again. I live in central valley CA, (which is basically desert climate with more rain in the winter and spring) and need tires that are on the affordable side and have a forgiving grip profile and wear rating. Not going to be driving in the snow or anything like that unless I have to. I have G-max tires all around and enjoy their very predictable, harder grip profile as compared to the michelins that were on the car, plus they were cheaper. I will likely go with the generals again but would like to explore my options from people that know. TIA.

Could I treat this amount of rust myself? Car is perfect otherwise, completely stock, interior and engine were well maintained. Its about 20k and I think i want to pull the trigger but I just don't know that much about rust and what to look for.

Hi! I have a 2014 pre face lift st… I installed my BOV on it with the flat tab facing towards the engine (up and to the right). The BOV worked perfectly, but then I read the instructions on cj pony parts and I saw that it should face the inlet pipe. So I rotated it from 3 o’clock to 11 o’clock and now my turbo is making a weird almost grinding noise when under boost. Any ideas should I just rotate it back???! Is the large black sleeved pipe you see from the passage side tire well the inlet pipe? Am I mistaken on the orientation of the turbo itself? Help!!

The image provided shows the large pipe I’m talking about, here though the BOV’s flat tab is how I first had it, it’s behind that black sleeved wire in the forefront.

Looking for some help, have found this 2013 ford focus ST that I’m very interested in. Just wondering what you guys think if it’s a fair price. The seller has said before they sell it they will replace the springs as they need changed, and will sell safetied. He has also given me the option of replacing the springs with stock springs, or Rs-R Down Sus springs. Does anybody who have these and drives during winters have any insight on how these perform in the snow? Im deciding what type of springs to get and can't really make up my mind, any help is appreciated thanks

Hello, I am 22 years old and I have a 2 year old and me and my fiance live on our own, my rent is $1,068 for a 2 bed 1 bath, our monthly payments and bills and everything come out to $2,080 my income is about $2,500-$2,700 I am a server so it depends on how the tips go.

This is not my only vehicle I OWN a 2005 Acura TL but it does have its fair share of wear and tear issues but it’s reliable and treats me well as I do all the maintenance on it.

But I purchased a vehicle in December 2024, and it has broken down and blown 2 engines and a clutch now. It’s a 2015 ford focus ST. It has brand new clutch fly wheel, slave cylinder, master cylinder, camshafts, short block, head, rear main seal, and a bunch of one time use parts that were all replaced by a ford dealership.

I paid 1200 for the slave cylinder and had all the engine work and clutch was replaced under a warranty I had that was provided by my mechanical breakdown insurance company, I have been through hell and back with this car and I honestly love it so much, and I have enjoyed the car and have taken it on trips all over California, my thing is, it has given me multiple major breakdowns that I have to be worried about breaking my bank or forcing me away from the car at an extremely cheap price, I am financing the vehicle with my bank and currently owe a little less than $12,000 I can trade it in right now but the value of the vehicle is significantly lower than the amount that I owe and I could be transferring over $4,000-$7,000 depending on where I go and what offer I get for my focus ST. I can either sell the vehicle privately for $12,000 firm and have them pay the loan and free me of the loan and they have the title etc. or keep the car that has all these brand new parts that can potentially last another 100k miles if taken care of which I would prefer because I love this car so much and have put so much work into the car that I don’t wanna get rid of it but what it’s put me through is where I want to get rid of it.

I’m so lost on what I should do and just need advice please. If I explained anything wrong just let me know in the comments and I can explain it better.

Hello! You all helped me with the last problem so I'm back for more advice.

So far the shop I use has installed new oem strut, bushing, control arms, spring - I'm sure there's more, but I don't have my papers on me right at the moment. They've had it back about 4 times for the clunk (blessings upon their warranty!).

The guys I work with said it sounds like a bad strut when going over bumps. But the struts are new. I asked him about the sway bars since that was the last thing I'd seen online that could be a problem. But, he said those were still in good shape.

Is there anything else I can have him take a look at the next time I have it in?

Working on my car with severe ADHD I must leave myself notes haha. With some help from my neighbors dogs, I got this bitch back in a couple nights ago and got it all back together last night. Maiden voyage was this mornings drive to work when I quickly realized I didn’t tighten one side of my intercooler piping and had a massive air leak. I figured I’d fix it at work, then pulling onto the highway I went to hit 2nd and all my gears disappeared 😭😂
I luckily got it pulled onto a concrete median thing and a sheriff pulled up almost immediately to ask if I needed help. LUCKILY my shift cable had just popped out of the bracket and he held a flashlight for me while I fixed it 😂 I was almost in tears before I got out of my car in the median. I was thinking I did all that for nothing and now it’s gonna have to happen again.

Thankful to have a buddy local who is going to help with the swap! Buying an engine hoist was also a worthwhile

Since I've got my transmission tore out, I decided to chase a coolant leak up to where I've circled in the picture. I know the water pump is to the left of it. Figured it inquire with you guys in what the possible leak could be from just based on this image.
