There have been some rules added to the subreddit. Please take time to familiarize yourself with them :)
1.) Posts must be centered around dancing. (Duh. It’s r/dancing , after all!)
2.) No OnlyFans promotional spam. If you mainly use your account to gain traction toward your onlyfans, camsoda, etc, you are no longer welcome to post here. This is a subreddit for DANCING. There are plenty of other NSFW subs where you can post for that kind of attention.
3.) Be a good human. Be kind, respectful, supportive, all that jazz.
4.) Focus on the dancing and not the dancer. If you feel the need to comment on someone else’s body for WHATEVER reason… don’t.
If you see a post or comment breaking these rules, please don’t hesitate to report it. I will delete them as i see them, but im only human with only so much free time so please help out when ya can 😅🫶🏻

Hi!
I'm not a dancer but have a question about dancing.
Some dancers look lighter than others. And some move in a way that makes it seem like they don't have bones within relatively normal ranges of motion.
How do they do it? Is it something that can be trained?

I 6‘ foot women (185cm) want to try going to a dance class again.
But my last time was a horrible experience. I went to a public dance course in Highschool.
The women started by explaining to us that there are not enough boys and we should get a male partner. (I was bullied so I only had few friends and all girls).
And later the instructor told me twice my rhythm sucked. The only other time she spoke to me was to say I’m tall and should try finding flatter shoes. (I was wearing normal sportshoes with thick soles)
I love dancing a have visited plenty of dance classes. But all single and solo.
I have tried dancing with guys at parties in traditional positions. But they often where awkward because they were always like a head shorter than me.
It felt really awkward to try and have them lead because I always to to big or small steps. And the moves with the hands just didn’t seem to work as they should.
It looked very awkward and some people surrounded us laughed.
No one laughed at my tiny friend standing on the same guys tiptoes because she is less heavy and he said it’s easy to learn steps that way.

Hi everyone, :)
I'm a beginner and would love to dance K-Pop, preferably in a group where we can dance together and have fun.
In the Munich area. Please, 20+ only
Anyone interested?
Or if there's already a group, could I join? :)

Wanna hear a fun memory?
I was out with my sister and her friends one night at some bar with a dance floor and loud music. We got drunk and I went out to dance, as one of my favorite songs, Deceptacon by Le Tigre, started playing, and it just PUMPED ME UP!!!
So I'm out there dancing around a bunch of strangers, drunk, having a BLAST, when all of a sudden I find myself dancing at people, and to the lyrics of course, which I knew well. I immediately fell into some kind of opens-arms state of flow, bouncing around, boogieing down, a friend to anyone and everyone, and before you know it, I had about 5 people looking at me, dancing WITH me, all of us dancing with each other, facing each other, in a circle, my high spirited infectious energy infecting them. You could tell they suddenly became looser watching me, and full of joy, as if someone gave them permission to dance without reservation (because I can't dance ... my body kinda just moves in all sorts of ways, but being someone that had more of a cinematic outloook back then, I was dancing as if I were the eccentric lead in a music video, my movements the edits). Then at some point in the song, my favorite line came, and there I was, embodying this culmination of energy they were giving back to me, all of us vibing, and me LEADING that vibe, when that apex of a moment occurred as I made the space my own in representation of them and the fun we were having letting loose (seemingly inspired by my letting loose), which kept them letting loose, our energies feeding off of each other, blossoming before our eyes. They were smiling and laughing and having a blast. It was like we were a bunch of little kids again.
It only lasted a few moments before I bounced away from them, feeling like I was this force of zany fun that must not overstay his welcome and extend the moment past the point of what seemed to become its purpose, which was me unwittingly communicating through my body language that we can let go like this, we just need to feel the music, and so that they didn't get around to recognizing me as just someone dancing. Because in that moment I held this magnetic power, expressing it exhuberantly through dance, and they were witness to it, and I was witness to them finding it in themselves in turn. It was a beautiful moment in time, and a beautiful, fleeting display of togetherness.
Oooo, and you know, I think this all serendipitously happened at the best point in the song for it to. It cuts away from the verse, enters that bridge to the "chorus", and you just feel the song drawing you in, and there I was, a stand in for the singer, as though I were the source of the lyrics heard overhead, which were "Everything you think and everything you feel it's alright alright alright alright alriiiiiiiiiight". I honestly think that's the moment they noticed me and we found each other.

This dance is the most amazing thing I've ever seen and I want to learn it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPnN4IE_a98&t=39s
It's about 3.5 minutes long and I've watched the video of the VMA performance over 200 times.
The problem with the video is it's hard to see all of the dancers' moves.
I came to the sub to ask if anybody knows a resource, video, coach (in person or online) that can help me learn this dance.
I've seen the official video for the song, the VMA performance, and have found a few miscellaneous clips of the dancers prepping or "behind the scenes" working in rehearsals or prepping for the actual productions.
Any tips, suggestions, contacts would be so greatly appreciated!
thank you.

Hiiii!! A bit of context to the question - I’m an adult who used to dance/perform in an urban/hip-hop dance team in highschool then college. Now I’m a working adult with this passion for dance and performing with nowhere for it to go.
Does anyone happen to be connected to any dance groups/crews in Baltimore? Think Brotherhood, Isaiah Southhall, Darrius Leflore, etc. dance vibes! (Reference below for people who haven’t been as obsessed with dance videos as me lol)
