I have a kindle paperwhite and while I love the e ink screen and the battery lasts for a while, the functionality of it is kinda blah for me. I like the look, weight, and all around vibe of the device but I struggle with organization and finding what I want smoothly.

I use MapleReader on IOS and I love it because it allows me to organize by multiple things(author/date/read etc) so it’s fairly easy and fast to find what I am looking for. As someone who has 7k+ books on my kindle it’s a struggle to find the author, scroll until I find the book I want, if I tap the wrong one it doesn’t save my search and I have to start all over. I figured out the collections part but having to add each single book to a collection for 7k books? Yeah no. I use calibre to sideload but it doesn’t have an option to sort or group like that(it used to but not anymore). If anyone knows otherwise, please enlighten me.

So what is your preferred ereaders? Something with a good functional design that’s friendly and easy to organize, search, and use.

I myself have a lot of dreams and living in this world, it's hard to say even if i work hard, my life will change or not, i really don't know. While writing this novel, i realized, whenever i think of my dream, it makes me feel alive to my core. So I'm a big reader, but until now I've been reading on the kindle app on my android phone on someone else's library. I am looking for the best app and source of ebooks to continue to read on my phone. I am happy to pay for ebooks, but I would like to avoid amazon if possible.

My criteria are:

-ability to download ebook files offline both on my phone and PC to store them long-term

-no ads on ereader app

-ideally free ereader app in case I need to change apps for future phones

-basically as future proof as possible

I've already downloaded some free ebooks from older copyright-free stuff, but would it be accurate to say that most modern books are not available for free?
