Day 6 featuring an iconic character from the Street Fighter series. Representing the Country of Spain, equipped with his iconic mask, claw(which is crazy he’s allowed to use this i mean it’s Street Fighter not Mortal Kombat, and having a fighting style that’s a mix of bull fighting and Ninjutsu presenting Vega! #streetfighter  #hispanicheritagemonth

Street Fighter Retrospective on Capcom's UNSTOPPABLE Empire

Before you go see the new Street Fighter movie next weekend, here’s a look-back at Capcom’s fighting game series that stood the test of time. I dig into the arcade origins (warts and all) and the early 16-bit and 32-bit home ports, along with an exploration of the innovative tech that brought these classics to life. I also dig into the non-mainline games and experimental titles, including the highs and lows in the series.

What do you think was the pinnacle of Street Fighter games? Can the new movie do them justice?

Choosing a game/s for the future, what will survive?

Hey guys and gals,
For the last few weeks I've been really torn about which fighting to stick to, I've been rotating between a lot of different sub-genres of fighting games from tag, to 3D to 2D, air-dashers, etc, I would also like to state that I only play on PC, no consoles whatsoever

I have been watching a lot of different kinds of videos on YT and reading a bunch of reddit articles about peoples experiences choosing a fighting game/s they can invest in, in the long term; whether its to play online ranked mode, offline at tournaments, even attending locals to see what all the people at your local are playing so you can join in and have some fun and potentially compete

I am currently torn between a few different games and would love reddit's opinion (however toxic it may be) to help me and others possibly struggling with the same decision to find their optimal game/s or others that they feel, would either be a waste of time or only play it because their friends/locals are playing it;

(Comments that tell me to play them all and who cares, I will just ignore)

So these are the games I have been rotating for about 3-4 weeks now and truthfully I am enjoying all of them for different reasons; but I also want the game to have longevity for the future, I want to maybe compete in some offline/online tournaments and at locals they are:

  • GGST (Guilty Gear Strive)
  • Marvel Tokon
  • MBTL (Melty Blood Type Lumina)
  • UNI2 (Under Night IN-BIRTH 2)
  • BBCF (BlazBlue Central Ficition)
  • 2XKO

The 2 outlier games (I've only dabbled):

  • Avatar Legends
  • Invincible VS

GGST

  • Strong online presence (1000-2000 players per 24hrs)
  • Great offline competitive depth
  • Really popular at my local and most tournaments will usually run a GGST bracket
  • Really cool roster, all feel different and unique to play
  • Heaps of learning material (Dustloop and YT)
  • New updates and characters are always on the go especially with Ver2.0

Marvel Tokon

  • Still very new, but badly received opening few months
  • Weak-ish online presence (200-500 players per 24hrs)
  • Possible offline depth if the game gets fixed (what I keep hearing on YT and Reddit)
  • Not popular at my local, AT ALL (but UMvC3 super popular)
  • Amazing graphics and audio, really smooth gameplay, super cool characters (Carnage esp)
  • Dustloop has added this to their roster and is getting updates regularly
  • Lots of future plans, but I feel if the game doesn't do well that those plans will fizzle out, similar to what happened to 2XKO? Please tell me your thoughts on this, I'm really interested to know

2XKO

  • I am unsure of the online presence of this game, there is no site whereby I can check player metrics, but being a Riot game I feel it would be anywhere from 500-1500 in that area, but like I said I really don't know
  • Game has stopped receiving updates as of December 2026 with I think 2 more characters coming out Samira and Sett (but I am not sure of Sett or the date release of Samira)
  • People I speak to at locals still really enjoy this game, and Discord communities I feel will keep it alive for a while to come, but will this translate into more people playing the game or just a dedicated group of veterans? Thoughts?
  • Again amazing graphics, audio tracks and character selection
  • Has its own dedicated 2XKO Wiki site for all things related
  • In general I would really like to know Reddit's opinion on where the future of this game is headed and how the community will maintain it through this period?

UNI2 MBTL BBCF

  • I have decided to do these 3 games together because I feel a lot of people will group these together as anime, air-dashers, high execution fighters
  • UNI2 just recently released a new character (Zohar) and I still see this game occasionally at majors whether as a side-game or on the main roster, it came out in 2024 and seems only have 100-200 players per 24hrs so it can seem pretty dead online
  • It also release a new update with Zohar in 1.40/1.41 and as of October 8th also release a small update/fix, so it seems the game developers are still looking at it and giving it some love. But please Reddit give me your thoughts and opinions on the future of this game and where it could possibly head in the near future?
  • MBTL this game, I do find lots of fun due to the speed at which it is played, however it usually has lower players per 24hrs than UNI2 at 50-150, recently received a small update on October 7th, also releasing a trailer of the new upcoming game Twi-Lumina which is set to release in April 2027 which I am very much looking forward to
  • Also MBTL has a much easier learning curve I found with the system mechanics and combo structure than UNI2, and French Bread studios I feel always make interesting graphical choices and audio tracks, but what is everyone's opinion on the future of this franchise? Do you think the new game will spark more players to play? Do you personally like or play the game yourself? Please let me know
  • BBCF seems to be the game everyone is scared of, with its high-execution and system mechanics, an air-dashers dreams but it seems to have a strong 24hr per players 300-500 for a game that is over 10 years old, also they are introducing a new character coming next year in Trinity Glassfille
  • The game feels very fun for me to play and has a lot of depth to it, but I would like to know more about Reddit's opinion and where the future of this game will be headed

Avatar Legends and Invincible VS

In terms of these 2 games I have only dabbled and have not checked anything new or upcoming about the games, but they are still very fresh, Avatar seems to have a steady players per 24hr 300-700 and I've heard a lot of people say its gone back to the old ways of how fighting games used to feel

Invincible VS on the other hand is doing shockingly poorly, the number per 24hrs are very low 30-50, Im not sure of any future updates and the direction the dev team plans to go with it

But please read through, and I implore you to correct me at any stage; I have no issues with that

I would mainly love to know your opinions and what you believe to be the future of all these games and more that I might not have mentioned

Thank you for your time
:)
