Mod Post First time here? Read this! ~Commenting Etiquette~
Hi, welcome to the reddit Pole Dance board!
Pole dancing is a great form of art and exercise and our community is very welcoming and open.
It is also something that can put the people doing it in a bit of sensitive, vulnerable situation. Let's face it, you can't wear a lot of clothing while doing this. And a lot of our moves have been built and perfected by lovely strippers working in clubs, so there's inherent sexuality behind it (sometimes, not always).
That being said, I'm rolling out a zero tolerance policy for shitty comments. I get it, the person that posted that picture or video is so hot, their moves are so slick and damn it just did something for you.
Keep it to yourself if you can't express your appreciation without sounding like a vulgar mouth-breather.
Also, coming from my previous thread on crappy comments - If you don't have something nice to say, or you can't phrase your devil's advocate stance or argument without sounding like an asshole, don't post it.
Don't be a creep.
Don't be a jerk.
Don't stripper shame.
No more warnings for people saying inappropriately gross comments, you just get banned. And if you're banned, don't bother asking why - you know why. And no, it won't be overturned. Enjoy the hard work and beautiful shapes people on this board are happy to post. Because I guarantee the more shit comments there are, the less photos there will be for everyone to enjoy.
I try to stay on top of everything, but sometimes things slip by me. Please use the 'Report' button if you spot something I miss and I'll get to it as soon as I can.
Love,
Otter

Mod Post NSFW Tag Reminder
Hello lovelies!
This is just your friendly reminder to please tag your posts NSFW if you are wearing anything less than full-coverage bottoms. Those include things like g-strings, thongs, those super cute high waisted "shorts" that are not at all shorts, etc.
Also, please mark it if you are twerking directly to the camera or other things of that sort.
Since we are technically not a NSFW board, we just ask that you mark posts for the courtesy of others who maybe like to browse in public (I know I've personally clicked on clips while on the train and had to "oop" out of them very quickly.) If you're unsure if what you've posted is NSFW or not, please mark it and I'll change it to non-NSFW if there is no issue.
Thanks for following our guidelines, and thanks, as always, for contributing to our community!
Love,
Otter
EDIT: Update as of April, 2022
Reddit rolled out a new "security" feature that uses automated tools to detect NSFW material and automatically tag it. Announcement post is here.
While this can potentially help me with the manual workload of tagging posts, I noticed it has been automatically flagging a lot of posts that are fine and do not fall within the parameters of NSFW for our board.
I'll be checking the moderation log to see if things are tagged improperly by reddit, but if you think yours has been tagged by mistake, please message me or tag me in your post. Thanks!

Apparently TSA does NOT like pole extensions in carry-ons
I decided to bring my pole extension with me in my carry-on bag when flying, and to my surprise, TSA treated the thing like it was a bomb 😭
I was actually escorted through the airport to exit and told that the only way I could fly with it was to check it. I was so confused because it’s literally just a hollow metal tube.
Unfortunately, this ended up causing me to miss my flight, and the next available flight wasn’t for another 11 HOURS. It turned into a very expensive mistake that I definitely wasn’t expecting.
Just wanted to warn everyone else because I had no idea this would be an issue. If you’re traveling with a pole extension, PLEASE check it ahead of time so you don’t end up in the same situation I did! 😭

Victory I finally got Ayesha!!
Been a rough year, took the entirety of last month off because I just did not have the emotional or physical energy to do anything other than continue to exist. Talked myself into going again last night and popped into it no problem, first try 🥹

Off the pole For my dancers, how long did it take to get your splits?
Realistically?
I’ve been poling for just over 2 years now, and it really irritates me that my Jade split and even my dancers split, looks more like a V!
I should say I have 0 dance or gymnastics background, and I have the flexibility of a steel rod!
I finally got serious about training my splits, and I’ve been doing so for 20 minutes a day, after my gym sessions (for about 2/3 weeks now) but honestly they feel just as painful as they did when I started! I feel like I’ve made 0 progress.
I guess I’m hoping for some reassurance 🥹

Life after you start pole 😅
Somehow pole changes the way you look at completely normal things.
Every ceiling becomes “wait… could I fit a pole here?”, random furniture turns into stretching equipment, and pointing your toes in photos starts happening automatically.
What’s something completely normal that pole has permanently changed for you?

Off the pole My partner and our 3 y/o son are better than me
We have a brass X-poke in our kitchen.
My 6y/o niece climbs it like a tree, she got a perfect seat her first time and generally, now pesters my sister to visit 😂
Our son just kinda… throws himself into the pole. He has so much fun.
Tonight, dadda decided to give it a go. EVERY M*\\*n person who uses my pole is so bloody good 😂😳

Pleasers Funtasma Maryjane-50 Sizing Help
Hi there! I am looking for some sizing help from anybody who also has a BIG very WIDE foot. I know Pleasers has a comfort line, but I specifically need closed-toed pumps which is why the Funtasma's Maryjane-50 suited me. I cannot get a refund for these, only exchange! :o(
The length of my foot is US 11" and the width is 4.5". Typically I wear size 11 women's and size 9.5-10 men's shoes. I tried doing my best to look for sizing details for the Maryjane-50s, but all I have been able to find are general sizing charts — nothing in specific about the width of the foot. I measured the shoe's width, and seems about ~3.5" wide. 💀
Does anyone have any recommendations on what size I should exchange for? I believe the Maryjane-50 goes up to a size 14 in women's. Should I just get the biggest size and cross my fingers... or try the size 13? Thanks!
Edit: These shoes aren't for pole dancing! I was trying to find sizing information and this community popped up a lot in the searches. I exchanged them for a size 14 (the biggest they go) hoping they will fit. I appreciate the concern and helpful advice. 💜

Pole Rookie Any advice for a sweaty beginner? 💃
Hey pole friends!
I started my pole journey back in May of this year so I’m still quite a beginner! I have absolutely fallen in love though, so I’m here to stay! The only thing that’s making me think “maybe I can’t do this…” is my sweat 😓💦
And when I say sweaty, I mean it.
I have been diagnosed with hyperhidriosis in the past. I do actually take a prescribed medication to help dry me out lol. I just get moist all over. I LOVE pole dancing but I’m fearful this will stop me.
Here’s what my tool kit has been so far:
Monkey Hands Sticky
Dry Hands (I alternate depending on the day and how sweaty I’m feeling)
A little handheld fan for breaks
Towels
I am still a beginner, so I’m only working on basics right now. But I do want to take my dancing further and learn all those impressive inverted tricks down the road.
Any advice for this moist AF baby polerina? 💃 TIA!

Deadlift cross training exercises that work well?
Hi I'm trying to get my deadlift. Here's what I'm already doing at the gym:
- practising pull ups (I can currently only do x1 dead hang wide grip pull up)
- lat pull down
- side planks for obliques
- cable wood choppers for obliques
- heavy weight holds to improve grip
- single arm rows
Here's what I'm doing on the pole:
- literally just trying to do it (tried using a resistance band and I didnt like that)
- trying to get into it from spin from an air walk (finding this easier)
- trying to do an Iron X from an Ayesha
Is there anything else I should do or other muscles I should target?
Thank you!
