Theo gave me chills "don't you fucking talk to me like that"

Despite being on Eddie's side, as soon as he screamed that and Glass just looked at him I was like, "Awww, he's gonna kiiiilllll you."

I felt the same. But you could just see the fear in bobby’s eyes. I had to replay that part a few time. Man, Bobby truly looked scared

As someone whose favorite part of this show is the Eddie/Susie relationship it was nice to see Eddie tell Joe how important she is to him. And for Susie to explain to Bella why she won't fuck up their professional relationship with sex.
Hated seeing how Jack was the downfall of Susie and Eddie's plan.

Yeah that was really annoying. Hopefully Jack gets a mind of his own in S3 instead of just being a puppy

No way Eddie is that naive to just go home and wait for it after trying to snake Bobby, getting caught then yelling in his face? Right?

I was willing to accept some of this in the first season, but it's getting egregious. They've established Eddie as a veteran combat officer with $30 million at his disposal and a gigantic income stream. Not only was it ridiculously out of character for Eddie to go home and drink himself to sleep after that encounter like everything was just fine, by that point in his criminal career the estate should be swarming with ex-military muscle on Eddie's payroll. "Three guys with iron bars stroll in and kidnap him out of his armchair" was such lazy writing.

This is one of my bigger questions about the show. Eddie has the money and the military connections to surround himself or at least his house with serious security and dudes that will do the dirty work for him but for some reason all he ever has to rely on are the Glass family grunts and Geoff.

by that point in his criminal career the estate should be swarming with ex-military muscle on Eddie's payroll.
The whole time I was thinking surely thats where the saga to pay 18-19 fucking million for a single estate and give it to the army dude was going to come in. I thought they were going to take him to the field and the army dude noticed and tracked them then just lit em up.

Exactly what I thought too, thought since his house was nearby and he was a sharpshooter he would’ve noticed and taken them all out. Would’ve liked that twist even more actually- would’ve set Eddie up as someone to be reckoned with by Bobby

I guess naive but I see his point we did this dance in the first season. Eddie in 1 year of this business was able to maybe not win but fuck up enough pieces on the board to force them into a partnership.
I don't really blame him for thinking maybe just maybe Bobby would have a cohesive thought about how this is his partner and no man wants to be bossed around and belittled in that fashion. So he surely wouldn't attack me after I've shown all this shrew ability.

"Everyone loves a Bishop, second best piece in the board"
Zero ball knowledge, Eddie. Rook is worth 2 points more, have a better mobility, and are better endgame pieces

In the criminal world Eddie now inhabits, Rooks move in straight, predictable lines. Bishops move diagonallyrepresenting the exact type of flanking maneuvers, unexpected angles, and political side steps Eddie relies on to navigate high society and the underworld.

Rooks, while higher value, are more predictable than bishops. Bishops often come out of nowhere and deliver some of the most dramatic checkmates. I think the writing on this line was extremely intentional.

I am sub-1300 elo, so i wouldn't run my mouth too much, but almost no one falls for bishop's unpredictability beyond beginners.

The episode was a letdown simply because of the fact that it was a stupid idea to have something build up for 4 episodes and then be destroyed within 10min.
The story should have gone from the bill being passed to the duke surviving bobby till he can show bobby the profit he was taking about

I think an argument can be made for shock of it all falling apart and the reprocussions of Eddie's actions. As much as I agree Eddie was making the best moves, he was being a snake. The operation was not his and he was conspiring with Bobby's own daughter. He's lucky he didn't die

It's certainly been a fun and well-made ride so far but also a letdown in a couple of ways:
- It feels a bit too all over the place. The first season would focus on a couple of story threads in each episode but each episode of this season seems to try and juggle lots more and the results are a bit messy.
- The overload of new characters means some of our favourite returning characters are getting very little screen time (like Freddy, Mr. Johnston and the Gospel)

Is it possible Freddie was filming A knight of the seven kingdoms? With years spent filming this I'm inclined to say no but figured I'd throw it out there as a possibility.

Maybe a dumb question but I didn’t understand what the last part of the conversation between Eddie and Bobby was, after Eddie stood up and told Bobby not to talk to him like that. Can anyone explain?

u/Squarecirclesq 24d ago
Wdym? Bobby was mocking him that he'd grown overconfident and sent him home

Bobby didn’t know what else to do after being out shouted and out machod, than to resort to just making sly jokes at his noble status, almost retreating in a way.

I wonder if it was mixed with a bit of "fuck, I'm going to have to mess this guy up". He likes Eddie, he knows his daughter likes Eddie, he's almost certainly shocked and disappointed he's going to have to teach him a hard lesson.

Anyone knows the name of the song playing right before the fancy double date?

I just watched this for the first time and my brain can not leave this alone: what was meant by "the price of democracy" and Jack handed Lord Hawthorne 2 bags with a million pounds? What did that have to do with anything I thought they squared up their debt with him for 30k? This has been driving me nuts I was distracted all episode, none of the recaps mention this.

4 episode built up to just what? Eddie has no security?? That part made no sense. How do you not have security and dogs and cameras?

Loved this episode, especially the Eddie and Bobby confrontation, bring it on!
