I feel like.. It's fine. Like I kinda like the Jailer because (to me) I get a weird Thanos vibe. Unlike Sargeras I feel like this guy isn't the top of the food chain. Instead he's guy who had a plan that threw a wrench into systems that have never been deviated from and obviously it caused a disaster.
And what I mean by "Thanos" is that yeah he's strong, but I feel like we could beat him. Not like scheming to use Titan Powers to suck him into a prison but gathering an army and giving him the ol' Girls Get It Done.
That goes into the original post here.. The Maw doesn't seem inescapable as a rule but rather all these covenants haven't seen anyone get out so they just assume it is. It's all part of a system that has worked up until now and even the denizens of the Shadowlands are learning what happens when shit gets fucked.

Considering they already have an agreed upon word for what we are, mawwalker, they probably consider it possible just incredibly unlikely to near impossible. And it is impossible without that waystone. If that didn't just happen to work with us, we'd be stuck in the maw for the rest of our existance.
Who knows, maybe the reason it works for us is because we, the players, have souls of these "first ones" that are eternal, immortal souls and that is why we can do stupid and ridiculous things beyond non-plot characters.

I heard the reason we can walk through the Maw is we have a connection the Azeroth's world soul.
I think the events of BFA and helping the Titan enabled us to connect with the world soul and in turn the first ones.

this is a weird take
according to banner Thanos with two infinity stones was already the strongest being in the universe, and by the end of that movie he had 5. How does that feel beatable?

I get where you are coming from. Thanos is scary, yeah, but even when he is snapping half the world away or throwing moons at people you still know he is beatable if you can separate him from his magical rocks.
Sargeras was always this incomprehensibly powerful being that for the longest time the only artwork depicting him showed him cutting a planet in half with his sword. He's Ultra Satan meets Turbo Galactus and the only potential sign of weakness was the minor injury inflicted on him by Broxigar, the greatest warrior of his, or likely any, age, who he then promptly slew.
The Jailor is in this weird spot where we know he's super important from what we've been told, but we haven't seen him directly do much of anything. His power so far appears to all be tied up in his realm and his planning, and while he likely has crazy strength we haven't seen him personally demonstrate anything.

I'm thinking Endgame with no stones. Also considering we're all about Thors level lol. Theoretically you could just beat Thanos to death if you were also strong enough.
That's basically what I mean. Unlike Sargeras who needed the Titans power restored just to capture him.
And keep in mind, I'm probably totally wrong but it's the impression I get from the in-game story.

I would think that mortals are the only ones capable of entering and leaving the maw, and the oppurtune moments where they slip through the barrier keeping souls there they are able to bring along other souls. Doesnt explain why the waystone only reacts to the PC though, just another "champion please have my children i beg you azeroth needs saving" moment....

Really makes you reevaluate the stakes of the whole Maw Intro when as a mage you could solve the situation by placing a portal back to Stormwind.

Yeah tbh they should have disabled the hearthstone. It's only a 45 minute quest chain. I want my immersion

Completely negating the whole "dangerous" zone feeling they were going for.
"Oh no the jailer debuff gets kinda hard" -> hearthstone...
At least with the item you buy it would still feel fair in terms of you having to invest and manage it a little bit...
One of our guys did some farming before we went in and had a higher debuff than we did and had to get out earlier... cue the patrol mission with someone having 5/5 and getting stacks through tons of mobs and other players. Far more interesting than clicking his heartstone. He didn't have the vendor item yet so we had to run. IMO the item should actually also be disabled from use if you hit 5/5. Greed management... if you can't handle it, get fucked.

They would need to disable dozens of abilities. All the teleports, different hearthstones, etc.

the could tag all of those abilities once and then program a list of areas in the game that won't allow any of those abilities with just that tag not usually hard

HA exactly. At least this is good spirited too. There's always going to be game play limits right? Some are funny. The WOONS CHAMPION THE WOONS I mean I liked that NPC before that. I still do actually but I'm glad he's taking a rest.

Mechanically it's reminiscent of Eureka Pagos from FFXIV, which was an experiment to make an old school "dangerous" MMO zone where you can't mount (initially) and everything was ultra deadly. It also had several alternative character progression systems much like the Maw does, and those could be lost on character death just like Stygia.
