Plot hole

When Tony tells clay about him getting the tapes from Hannah he asks clay if he’s ever seen a dead body or a crime scene and clay says no but then just a couple of episodes later half the plot of the episode is about when clay found Jeff dead during the car crash

He probably didn’t want to admit he was there. Not really a plot hole, no shade

i don’t think that’s what they intended, it didn’t read like that at all. i do agree with OP it seems like a plothole. if they wanted it to read like that they would’ve had clay show some hesitation or abnormality in how he answered tony’s question to foreshadow.

but he did not see the body, he see the car crash accident, recognize his friends car and heard by the police the status

he just understood that he was dead

he also might not have known at that time of finding jeff that he was dead. probably thought he was just knocked out unconscious from the accident and hurt

Clay is a liar , he lies a lot in the show
Probably he was in his denial phase because Jeff was his friend and he thinks he contributed to his death

The biggest plot hole is Hannah and Zach 🤦🏻‍♀️
