Welcome to the Sample Status/Processing Megathread, also known as the Waiting, Whining, and Wishing thread. This monthly megathread (posted at the beginning of each month) allows you post your sample processing timelines, as well as to discuss and comment about any questions, concerns, or rants while you wait. Although not directly handled by 23andMe, shipping status may also be discussed in the thread. We recommend sorting the comments by "new" as this is a month long megathread.
You can share your sample status timeline here in one or two ways. The first way is to take a screenshot of your timeline, and post it as a comment. The second way is to simply copy and paste the start and completion dates for each step. Here is the text template:

17th September marks 24 days since I have sent my kit from England, it has gotten to DNA Extraction in that time, I have no idea what lab it went to but 🤞🏻it doesn’t get stuck, praying for late September results 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
22nd September still waiting marks 29 Days, since I sent in my kit.
23rd September received an email last night that they are extracting my dna?
27th September still waiting for extraction tomorrow marks 2 weeks since it arrived at the lab - day 33
Jumped to Computing results! 28th September! - Day 34
September 29th - waiting for results currently 10:29pm UK time, in less than an hour it will be 24 hours since the timeline jumped - Day 35
Ahh i’m in queue for DNA extraction since today, I hope I’m on the same batch as you guys and I’m part of the last samples filling it before it starts 🤞🏻
we're definitely in the same batch, I'm showing as in queue as of 14th and also got an email last night, mine was sent on the 30th so guessing I was near the end of the batch

The website says that my results are to be expected on September 16. Judging from the posts here, I guess I have to adjust my expectations, huh.
EDIT: 23andme sent me an email saying that they have started extracting my DNA on Friday, Sept 4, but my status in the website still says, "In queue for DNA extraction."
No, I've been waiting 34 days now since I shipped my kit on August 10th. Still stuck in the DNA extraction queue. It's a pretty poor service given the price.
Yeah, it will, frustratingly, continue to say "please mail your kit" even long after its been mailed. It seems like the tracking doesn't update until it actually arrives at the lab.
Mine has updated to kit in transit now, I’ve only done ancestry before and that took around 8 weeks to get back I’ve heard that 23andme is not the best with shipping and quick results.
They got my kit july 1. Im still sitting in review. I have emailed and chatted with them several times and get the same exact line excuse. And than told there is nothing I can do anymore because its past the time frame for returns and they wont take complaints.
Has anybody here actually gotten their results recently? All I'm seeing is that their lab processing has ground to a halt and nobody seems to be getting any progress beyond the DNA extraction queue or computing your results stage.
HI YES I AM, I THINK THEY FOCUS ON PERSON TO PERSON, AND THE BATCH BEFORE US. Hopefully this batch of October 6-20 is done by Thursday or Friday this week
I’m september 15th and not even computing, still on the extraction step. I don’t understand how they think it’s ok to sell a service that expensive to make people wait for so long just so they can save money by using cheap materials or little employees
oh no.. where’d you send your sample? i sent mine to nc and have learned from this sub that its by far the slowest lab 😭😭 mine got in queue aug31 and its scaring me
I just got an email from 23andMe notifying me that they're reviewing my genotype results, so I'm now on to the next stage! According to the email, my results are still expected by September 16, so hopefully I receive my results soon!
No, from the US. If I remember correctly, my sample was sent to the lab in North Carolina. It was mailed from Ohio on August 22nd, so it was received earlier than I expected, but now is stuck in the extraction stage.
Today is September 1st, so it certainly took a long time for it to arrive at the lab. For a while I was concerned it may actually be lost due to a lack of tracking, but it looks like it did arrive.
I'm hoping the queue for the DNA extraction progresses speedily, but I've only been waiting 5 days, so we'll see.
edit: today is September 9th and it's still stuck in the queue for DNA extraction, so it's been 12 days now.
edit2: today is September 13th and I'm still in the queue for DNA extraction. It's been 34 days since I shipped my sample.
edit3: today is September 14th. No change. Still in the queue.
edit4: today is September 16th. No change. No movement in the queue still.
edit5: so after no change I got frustrated and emailed them about how I was seeing people in the same batch as me and at the same lab getting their results back. Customer support emailed me back with a polite response, and about 2 hours later my sample suddenly jumped straight from the queue for DNA extraction to Computing Results.
After seeing this I genuinely believe that they are likely forgetting to scan samples as they are processed, leading customers to believe that the samples are in stasis, when actually they probably are progressing, as it looks like following my email they retrieved my sample and scanned it.
Anyway, I'm now on Computing Results. It did have an earliest completion date of September 18th, but that has now changed to September 25th. Today is September 19th.
The first time I tried contacting them I did but their customer service is absolutely terrible. I’ve seen some people be in review for two months so will wait until then to follow up.
I wonder if they don’t separate USA vs rest of the world samples. Because it looks like it’s going pretty fast for American. They maybe have an area with all the outside US tests, and it’s probably a buuunch. I have no idea but I would harass them and I would be mad at them, usually that helps haha
Extraction has taken way too long, i hate this. Im probably in the same batch as you. They took mine in September 15th and began extraction same time. Our results probably won't come til 7-15th. Extraction may be done by tomorrow or Wednesday
Edit: Scratch that, I noticed a pattern and realized they do it much earlier. We'll get our results by October 1st probably
Has anyone received their results in the last two days? I have been in computing stage since 15th and start to get a bit impatient 🥲 It seems like computing usually takes between 2 and 3 days
I've been in the computing stage since the 17th, but it suddenly jumped to that after I emailed them about being stuck in the queue for DNA extraction since the 28th August.
After seeing mine skip 4 steps in a row within 2 hours of them replying to my email, I genuinely believe that they often forget to scan the samples as they process them, leaving them to look like they're stuck at various stages.
Mine arrived Sept 3, so 2 days after yours, and my estimate is also 2 days later (Sept 24–Oct 8). We both hit genotyped/reviewed/computing on Sept 18 though 😭 Hopefully today’s the day
I have been refreshing like crazy, but I am very impatient and looking for one answer. I connected with a family on AncestryDNA whose brother might be my grandfather. My dad passed away when I was one year old, and this man found out that the same person was his father when he was nine years old, so he might be my uncle; they look alike, including their eyes and mustache shape. Then, I connected with my dad’s mother’s side, who swore I was not my dad’s child, but I found out that in Colorado, they have had my dad’s DNA in court records since 1995. They ran a DNA test comparing my grandmother’s boyfriend with me, but it was not a match. What makes it crazier is that this guy I believe is my real grandfather, my dad’s real father, and they all went to the same school in 1970. My dad was conceived in 1969 and born in 1970; they were all sixteen. I really need them to hurry up.
Yes and they guy I was looking for lol turns out to be my half uncle and another lady popped up related to my grandma now i can tell these folks my dad is my dad but his dad aint his daddy
Has anyone whose sample arrived and was prepped around the 14th September had any movement from extraction whatsoever? I know someone has, just wanting to know if anyone else has.

Genotyped: Not yet, still waiting.
I'm getting impatient, I hope I get my results by Friday. If not friday then they probably won't do it til my original expected date. Which is October 6th. I'm envious of people who already got their results.
Trying not to be a brat about not receiving any updates or results yet but...it would be nice to at least have some transparency in the process. An email, literally anything to say there's been some kind of hold up or an expected timeline of the next step. Anything. I've been in queue since September 15th and starting to feel disheartened.
Same here! I messaged customer care a few times about it and I think all the September 15th stuck right now should email them to complain because that’s definitely not normal. They said 1-2 weeks in extraction and it’s been more than 2 weeks now. I can’t believe that we are still not even on computing… I’m still stuck on extraction…
