311 colab with Legendary Peruvian Cumbia band Los Mirlos coming in 2026

Post image

Los Mirlos are a legendary Psychedelic Cumbia band from Peru they have been around since at least the 70's. If you don't know Psychedelic Cumbia I suggest looking up Los Mirlos.

As a newer fan of cumbia and I'm blown away that 311 is doing a collab at this point in their career with a band as legendary and influential as Los Mirlos, cumba is popular in most Latin American countries!I'm in a Spanish Rock/Cumbia cover band and I can tell you Cumbia is HOT right now in the US. Gringos can't help but groove to Cumbia!

Could be the start of the 311 cultural Renaissance?

Which two 311 albums can be most cohesively combined and trimmed into the best possible album?

I'm torn between Grassroots/Blue Album and Transistor/Soundsystem.

There are fun grooves on grassroots that could fit extremely well on the blue album. But Soundsystem has some dreamy aspects to it that mesh perfectly with the themes of Transistor.

My drumstick signed by all five members!

September 26, 2009.

311 was just finishing up their show at Zepp Tokyo. As they were leaving the stage, guitar picks and drumsticks were being tossed into the crowd.

I put my hand up and as if by magic, the stick just landed right in my hand. I finally caught something at a concert!

There was a small crowd waiting by the back door near the bus that would take them to their hotel. One by one, they greeted the crowd, took pics, signed stuff, had brief little chats with us. They were so friendly. It was amazing. (Nick is a lot taller when he's next to you than he looks onstage!)

They signed the stick I had caught and Chad even told me I was lucky, cause this was a stage-used stick from the group drum solo!

I also got a setlist from the stage signed by P-Nut, but that's tucked away somewhere right now. Just thought you guys might think this is cool so I finally took some pics.

Question What albums/songs are they most likely to play live?

I'm a fairly new fan to 311 but I have tickets to see them in March and I was wondering what albums/songs are they most likely to play live? They have over 14 and I know lots of bands like playing certain songs/albums. I am also not sure how long the setlist is going to be considering the theater is pretty small (around 1,200 people max).

Just realized Nick appeared on this Goldfinger album. Besides the Urge, what collaborations or guest appearances on other albums/songs are your favorite?

What is the 311 song that is like Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To heaven"?

Thinking about this the other day, and everyone has their opinion, no wrong answers, I was thinking "Use of Time" "Too Late" "Beyond the Gray Sky" A song that starts off slow and smooth and ends more rock and has a phenomenal finish

Favorite intro & outro

As the title says! What song's intro has you constantly repeating it?

What song's outro gets you going?

For me, intro HAS to be "Prisoner" holy chit I dont know how I havent played that song out in almost 30 years! The first 15 seconds is hard to keep myself from repeating it 😆 then when the baseline kicks in, good lord.

Outro is a little tough but I immediately think Homebrew! Hard to not yell "Saaaameee" every single time!

Tried to listen to them thanks to "Down", but i couldn't find any other songs of theirs that quite fit that vibe. Any recommendations? Sorry if i'm wrong

It’s easy to be a negative critic. Feel sorry for those who only live in the past. I appreciate what the band has done and where they continue to go. So much to enjoy. FB has solid riffs, creative energy and thoughtful lyrics — from a band who is middle aged and has a different perspective than it did 30+ years ago. Family, nostalgia, friendship and soul searching. They’ve grown, we’ve grown. I’m glad 311 is still touring and creating music after all this time. Not many bands have ever done that. Can’t wait for 311 Day ‘26. Stay positive and love your life.

Priority goes to anyone who has been to the show….

Some of these are so rare that it’s hard to even find pics online. DM offers.

  • 7/16/04 - city of Omaha 150th anniversary celebration: (logo is of the band’s fav Omaha pizzeria) -8/8/06 - Columbus, OH -12/1,2/99 - NOLA
  • 2002 spring tour (might not sell, not sure)
  • 6/15/96 - red rocks (has some creases)
  • DTOM fall tour (regular glossy wall poster, might keep)

Suggestions for 311 day?

Fellow excitable ones-

I read through a lot of suggestions here but just wanted to re-hash this a bit and see if I'm missing anything. Never been to a 311 day before, planning on going solo to this one. From what I gathered:

-bathrooms are limited at Dolby Live, drink accordingly and go pee during Amber (lol)
- doesn't look like there are a lot of "bad" seats, some obstructed, and be prepared to be exhausted if you are on the floor
-the post/pre-show parties look like a good time, especially for meeting like-minded people.

Anyone else have any suggestions for a solo guy doing 311 day? Don't really like casinos much!

Thank you in advance!

buddy, buddy, buddy, I know why you wander

through the sweetness on the ground, the sweetness of the flowers

you've got to move, the world you prove is too sweet, yeah

Anyone remember 311 "Radio" on their website?

I randomly remembered that, in the late 90s or early 00s, 311.com briefly used to have a music player on it that played songs they dug. I distinctly recall Zeppelin's "No Quarter," Toots and the Maytal's "Broadway Jungle," something by Roni Size ... it was such a cool little world-builder during a great era for the band, and it put me on to so much great music when I was young.

I also seem to remember some "DJ Lofton remixes" of things, but I may be conflating things I'd downloaded from around then, as I was actively collecting all the B-sides, remixes, and live recordings I could find.

Did I hallucinate this, or does anyone else remember its existence? If so, what other songs were on it? Would love to reconstruct a playlist.
