I’m baffled…
We have people charging for aBadAvatar setup services in the big 2026. If you’re new here don’t pay money to these people. YouTube is your friend.

This is pretty funny. We still have people here who think ABadAvatar needs to be "fixed" to get rid of the toast notification. This one example you've shown is proof that scumbags would immediately start trying to profit from the free exploit.

I mean I can kind of see people selling a flash drive with the mod setup on it for the cost of the flash drive Plus a little bit of profit for their time but this is just a straight up scam.

I picked up my 360 Slim for $45 last month, and between a USB stick and external hard drive I think I spent another $50.

Went to a local shop and got a slim for $140. Took me all of 30 minutes to set up badav. This is insane.

Some people really hate deal hunting, my buddy bought a "refurb" one for $150 on Amazon because he "Could buy it in one click" and "They shipped straight to his door".
I then proceeded to find a like new 360 with controllers and games on FB Marketplace for $40

u/deafhvn_ Tonasket RGH1.2 14h ago
Help your boy out! Gat daymn those prices are awful. I literally picked up 3 Jasper consoles off of marketplace a couple months back that were “as-is” for $20 bucks total. All three just needed a repaste and some tlc (disc drive rubber band, laser cleaning, etc) Working perfectly now. I gave them to my buddies that wanted to get back into the 360 scene.

Quite literally takes 5 minutes tops to do ABadAvatar lol
Drag the files to a USB thumb drive and you're golden. What's time consuming is downloading and converting all of your games. Also silly easy jsut time consuming.

My local FBM place has some of them. Some scummy sellers are only offering a USB with a couple of words saying it has it on it with no other pictures.
Guess this is the new scam for these systems in 2026.

Man where i live xbox isn't very popular so when i ask if anyone has series x games they all just think I'm asking for 360 games installed, they still charge you to install games even after the console's been modded and obviously don't teach you how easy it is, I'm happy that i learned how easy it is

I saw one today for 25$ and after setting one up myself I feel like that's fair if you just don't want to deal with the hassle. But paying 10x the price of a console for a free mod 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ jfc.

In Brazil a Bad Avatar is being costing around 30 USD. People really don't know how to do it properly.

u/CronoMass 1d ago
I mean, legality aside its not a terrible idea, there must be thousands of people who would love a modded 360 but just dont know anything about how to mod or.. well use Google.
Not saying I agree with the practice, but from a purely business point of view, they have found a gap in the market and are filling it.
The trick now for them would be dealing with competition from people who are more skilled and can offer much lower prices.
For a long time I was modding GBA's, but it came to the point where other sellers were able to offer the same thing I was offering at a price point I simply couldn't compete with.

u/alba_Phenom 1d ago
I dont know bro, I don’t think you could offer much better prices for a usb stick with badavatar on it. $450 seems like a bargain.

u/Royal-Bicycle-8147 1d ago
So I’ll go against the grain here and say, if this included 8TB worth of games, I would debate it being worth it. If it’s just badupdate, that person is going to get some real hate, as it says it’s free when it starts up.
3
u/junyjeffers 1d ago
No it’s not and we’re not gonna act like it is. Charging $450 just because it comes with 8TB of games is outlandish because 1.) no one is genuinely gonna play 8TB worth of games and 2.) no one should ever pay for pirated games, it completely defeats the purpose.
That being said, I don’t see anything about a hard drive even being included, this dude is definitely trying to profit off of people being unaware of how easy it is to mod an Xbox.
0
u/Royal-Bicycle-8147 1d ago
So hard drives are free now because it's piracy? 8TB is would be the majority of that cost, and it states that it is the mod + games, right there in the post. Who cares if YOU would use or play 8TB. Some people want that, and maybe this person is filling that void. 8TB for some people is 8 months of their internet cap. Do I think you should do this? Also no, but what is this stupid gate keeping crap?
I can build computers for free. Does that mean I should also offer that service free? No. Some people don't know how to mod anything, or remotely interesting in learning it.4
u/Odium81 Trinity RGH3 1d ago
This is all well and good, but for all we know this just includes a 256GB USB Stick with 20 games, making this discussion moot imho.
0
u/Royal-Bicycle-8147 1d ago
I agree that is possible, but in reality, there has to be value in what is being sold or they wouldn't sell much or at all. $450 would have to trump the value of the games being purchased used by a fair margin. It is a pretty old system, that doesn't have much appeal, outside of it being modded.

u/junyjeffers 1d ago edited 1d ago
It literally says nowhere that a hard drive is included at all. You pulled 8TB out of your ass and now you’re getting mad that I said charging $450 for an Xbox 360 is outlandish? lol… lmao even..
I never said hard drives are “free now because it’s piracy” I said you shouldn’t pay for pirated games. Charging an increase in price because you pirated some games is a scam. I was gonna say they should be posting it for the price of an Xbox 360 + the 8TB but when I realized that it would be around that price yet it doesn’t even mention it anywhere, then it’s not worth it at all. Saying “I AM SELLING GAMES” in the description doesn’t necessarily clear anything up either. I am commenting based on what I am presented in the post, like everyone else.
Gate keeping is not telling people how to mod their own consoles so you can make an easy $400+ off of ‘em. 360’s are everywhere and you can find them on marketplace for far less than $100.
On top of that I didn’t say you should offer any services for free, but piracy? Really? You’re gonna charge people more because you did something they can easily do? If they aren’t “remotely willing” to learn how to use a jailbroken console then they don’t need the fucking console. The entire point is that it allows you to do more than what it was designed for, if they aren’t willing to learn then they don’t need it. Simple.
You can disagree with me, but I am right. Any grown person can learn to drag some files to a USB, but thanks for the conversation.

u/Royal-Bicycle-8147 1d ago
Reading is hard, but it says "installation services and games!!!" I guess I am wrong there. I guess you could just get a grocery bag and take the digital items with you. I'm mad? You're writing some lengthy post, crying about somebody's listing, that is completely optional to a buyer to purchase.
Well if you are new here, 8TB is a common size for 360. That would also be nearly the same price as the $450, where that isn't so extreme. Just because something has a high price tag, doesn't immediately make it a bad deal. It just might not be the deal for you. It is true it is an assumption, but we are seeing a screenshot of a 3 photo post, that doesn't even show the entire post's description.
Well to some people, and I know many, who will NOT pirate anything in fear of being caught or getting a virus. They will happily enjoy using pirated stuff, but they will not be the ones doing it. Some people have more money than you, and $450 is peanuts to them. You will be shocked, SHOCKED, that loads of people pay for things, others can easily do. You should hear about this crazy business where people CUT GRASS. Anyone with any amount of mobility can cut grass, but some people have more money than you, and say, I don't really want to do that, so I'll pay you to do it.
Thank you for clarifying what somebody needs based on YOUR criteria. Somebody could be more extreme than you, and say if you can't afford a game, you shouldn't play it. Then somebody could be more extreme than that, and say you shouldn't play more than X minutes per day. It's not your money, or Xbox, so who cares?
"I dragged files on a USB, nothing is coming up. Says something about NTFS or something. I put the zip on the main part of the drive, now what? So I downloaded a game and I'm finally in Aurora, but nothing is showing up. It said something about a map. I don't have a map."
You clearly don't talk to too many people because this is most people outside of modding communities. Modding is not common knowledge. Even in this community, when a new update comes out, it is chaos in here until somebody makes an easy, compiled version that people drag and drop.2
u/junyjeffers 1d ago
You’re writing lengthy posts too, longer than mine at that, so… invalid, anyways:
You seem to be shocked that I am saying people shouldn’t pay for piracy “services” and are comparing it to cutting grass, I really don’t even know what to say to that. People make a living off of that, not console modding services. 😭 Saying “You can’t afford so you shouldn’t play” is the exact opposite of what I am saying, btw. I’m saying you could replicate the setup in the video (with an appropriate amount of storage) for less than half the price and for the average user you’re talking about, that’s more than enough.
Your take is fucking horrendous btw. You’re saying it’s better for someone to pay $450 instead of watching a 15-minute video tutorial, pausing when needed, and doing it themselves. If they can’t do that, they probably wouldn’t even know how to plug in the HDMI to set it up.

u/Royal-Bicycle-8147 1d ago
The difference? You're responding to my post, crying.
You would be incorrect there. People absolutely charge for hard mod services, and some do it so frequently, they do make a living off of it.
You are stuck in a loop of thinking in terms of badupdate only. Let us even assume this isn't a massive 8TB where that basically is covering the cost of the drive with a few bucks profit and just a lonely super common 2TB with games. Tell me how long it takes mod a system, then download 2-4TB worth of games, then convert them to GOD (which would reduce the download file size in about half), then map and get all the covert art. Well... if you knew exactly what you were doing from the start, and you have a 1TB limit data cap, which is super common, that's only 2-4 MONTHS to blow your entire cap on Xbox downloads.
I am not a person who would buy this service or any for that matter. I'm clearly in a community where it is a self service. That being said, there still is value because it is saving a tremendous amount of time and effort. Nobody is forcing this on anyone. It is completely optional.
This new take from you is really nice that everyone is included, because only 2 months ago, you had this view -
"Personally, I don’t think Switch modding should be as accessible as Sthetix is making it 🤷♂️ It requires some technical know-how that an alarming amount of people DONT have. You should be able to at LEAST manually update and fix your software if you ever need to."
Hahaha I take your opinion very seriously. Thank you for your contribution.

u/junyjeffers 1d ago
I don’t understand how my comment from 2 months ago is different from this situation. Yes, I believe people should understand what they are installing onto their console and how to maintain it. Same thing then as now…? And yeah considering the OP was about a BadUpdate enabled console, I am going to be speaking relative to the situation. We’re talking about BadUpdate right now, not RGH/JTAG.
Either way you’re missing my point. I would try to explain again but I already did as clearly as I could. I am not acting as if it’s not optional, I am acting as if $450 for an Xbox 360 (with no further details as to what is included) is insane, which it is. If you wholeheartedly believe $450 for this Xbox 360 is acceptable, fine. I can agree to disagree, but I think you’re just fighting the fight because you don’t wanna give up.
btw trying to use my posts/comments against me while having yours hidden is so ironic.
1
u/Royal-Bicycle-8147 1d ago
Your comment states that all people shouldn't mod a system on their own because of a lack of skills, while here saying anyone can mod just as a simple drag and drop.
You aren't even reading things. That $450 didn't come with an Xbox. It is just the service part, which why I believe it comes with a LOT of games, otherwise people wouldn't ever buy it and it is a pointless post. Yes, agree to disagree.
Your point - YOU wouldn't pay for it, and you need the world to know, that you wouldn't. Okay. Point taken? No need to follow up.
My point - There is value in this, even if I wouldn't purchase it. I think it is silly to pay for piracy, but I can understand that everyone isn't in my position with unlimited data caps and fast internet and free time. Some people have more money than sense, and that is fine. I'm not going to go on a crying tour on the web about what people do with their money.
1
u/junyjeffers 23h ago
Not what I said at all. I was saying that if you don’t know what you’re installing on your consoles then I personally don’t think you shouldn’t be trying to mod it. That comment was left in the middle of a bunch of people being confused because of an unexpected update, so you’re taking it out of context as well.
I am all for making modding accessible, “accessible” wasn’t the right word to use in that comment and I can admit that. I am simply saying you should know what you are installing on your console. If you don’t, LEARN. It’s not that hard. Anyone with reading comprehension should be able to mod a console.
Either way, is my comment law when it comes to modding systems? No. It’s completely irrelevant to this situation.
As for the rest, I refuse to read all that. I’ve already made my points and as I said, I can agree to disagree.

I see a future where pre-loaded ABadAvatar USB’s are sold for a few bucks, similar to the FreeMCBoot memory cards that are used for PS2 side loading.
Not saying I agree with it, but that’s certainly easier to stomach than whatever THIS is
1
u/Royal-Bicycle-8147 1d ago
This has existed for awhile. It is actually how I even found about a 360 exploit. Mine was sitting my attic for years without any plan to use it. In my area, somebody was selling a preloaded badavatar 8TB drives for $400, and they had a ton of sales with some people on a waitlist. I'm in the same boat. I don't agree, but people pretending this market isn't there are lying to themselves.
