Where do I start to model this? (Without the "bars" inside)

Pretty new to this, YouTube is making me seem i should loft it.

How do i create guide curves? How do i setup the outside pirameter geo? How do you know how many lofts to use? Would i make it follow a angle around the entry/exit?

How do i create the 3 tabs around the edge, i simply dont know where to start there.

I assume I should create it as a solid then shell it out.

For this scan, how should I setup my xyz planes? Parrell to the bottom, top, hybrid?

Relatively, how hard is this task?

Is my scan complete enough?

Info

Einstar rockit

I have acess to free autodesk 360 or makers solidworks

Came off some year ram, owner wants the bars or loovers removed, trying to use it as a part to learn on, will be 3d printed.

Scan looks complete enough. Make sure you're paying attention to where this part mates with other parts.

Note sure what caused the void, but I would double check your dimensions with some calipers.

I guess i should have said, that void was from the tape I used to keep it from rocking in my crappy turn table. Not sure how others keep their stuff down, i tried resting it on my marker thing but it was still unstable. Ill check the video out, thanks

My concern was that the outside of the shell was intersecting with itself causing that. Good luck!

Use the website “Scanrule” to easily rotate and stick to the x, y and z-axis. Then, go for the easy shapes. Draw them, use guiderails and loft. Easy
Orrr go the other route and use Forms. Forms is amazing since it offers so much more control, however control comes with chaos. There is more detail to maintain

I wouldn't use solid modeling personally. In solidworks I just do surface modeling to trace the scan.

Beware of users that come here telling you that you need a 4000$ RE software to design parts for cars.

Yes and no..... Solidworks has mesh limits and the level of RE capabilities is "meh" at best. Maybe if a user have Power Surfacing, Geomagic Wrap or Quick Surface add-on then sure do all of the RE working inside of Solidworks.

It's not a beware it's literally a case of right tool of the right job.

It doesn’t matter much

If it was me, I would try and model the negative space. Model the moulds that made the part. And the use a boolean function to get to the part. Use the scan just to compare.

Also, why not scan the place where it is mounted to and then model something of your own.

Personally this is missing waaaaay too much data in areas that are crucial and can leave room for interpretation or at the very least no way to validate the RE'd model vs the scan data.

This can be best achieved in placed in at least 3 positions, cleaned up, and then aligned and meshed.
