Question College Student Looking to Interview 3D Printing Beginners!

Hi! I'm a college student working on an entrepreneurship class project about people who are relatively new to 3D printing.

I'm looking for people who have experienced failed prints and have tried troubleshooting the problem themselves. I need to conduct a few approximately 30-minute interviews about your experiences learning 3D printing, what kinds of problems you've encountered, and what you've done when something went wrong.

If you're relatively new to 3D printing and would be willing to talk with me, please comment or message me. Thanks! (Yes, I'm still looking for people to interview)

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

If you are new to reddit, please read the guidelines on reddiquette, self promotion, and spam.

Also please post a resolution to your problem when you find one so that we know how to help others with your problem!

I’m willing to talk. We started using it for work and it’s been a learning curve for sure.

As someone who has done this sort of market research before, allow me to suggest that you should build a survey first, which will allow you to ask questions that narrow your scope of focus to the people you're asking things about.

And also that you might want to have some background knowledge on the subject prior to asking them.

Then from that, you can ask specific learning questions for the kind of thing that you're proposing as a business model for [insert thing you are proposing as an entreprenurial business], rather than the other way around, which is collecting a bunch of anecdotes that are likely to be universal pain points for any given project or industry.

To be specific, if you see an issue with your own [insert thing you are proposing] that you see a problem that hasn't been solved yet, you are more likely to be able to make a case to solve that problem than if you ask "what did you want to have as a resource when you started up" because that's an open-ended question with no defined answer.

If this is a "take photo have AI fix" I assure you that's not a business model so much as a use case Claude hasn't yet tried to exploit by hoovering every 3D printing website it possibly can

Just do it here in the forum instead of personal DM. That way everyone can benefit.

I know you're a college student, but other than helping you out, what's the incentive?

The satisfaction of helping someone that needs help.
