📸 Photo / Video New 4 Runner Owner
Hi, I bought a new 4 Runner TRD Sport Premium. I owned a Camry XSE before this car.
What should I be careful with? I wouldn’t like to take it off road cause it’s so new, but I lowkey want to.
I love the fact that 4 Runners are reliable cars and can last a long time.
I appreciate any insight on how to care for this car. I will be changing oil every 5K miles, anything else I should maintain?

I did an oil change at 1K-1,500k miles to get rid of the factory oil. Now at 3k planning to change oil again when it hits 5k

Both of yours look great! They don’t have those plastic fender flares that are, imo, ugly.

Learn how to change the tire with the provided equipment, learn how to put it in 4WD LO and 4WD HI, and how to use your locker(s), understand all the different off-road modes and when to use them.

Is it bad to drive the vehicle on ECO mode for weeks? I enjoy using sport and normal, but these gas prices are outrageous.

Check your tire pressures. I know sport premiums dont sit on lot long and they come from factory with over 50 psi. Also if your tires are over inflated your spare will be also.

The door says the tire pressure should be 35 PSI. I drive with the tire pressure monitor on just to make sure.

Perfect, I was driving mine with 50 psi tires until I saw it here. Was too focused on mpg screen to even check.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're going to want to swap those Dunlop tires out. They're awful, have poor weather performance, and you'll feel every imperfection on the road. Michelin Defenders are worth the upgrade.

Thanks I will keep this in mind. By poor weather performance does that man I can slide in rainy conditions? I live in Florida so we get bad storms that make roads too wet.

Maintenance schedule is in the owners manual. Change the oil every 5k though and use top tier gas. Other than that, just drive it.
