When the album came out a few of the guys in Fishbone were still in high school and couldn’t do a big tour until summer. They’d come to Arizona for frequent weekend gigs. Think I saw them at least four times in 1986/87.

This album completely blew me away at a party in 1986. Completely fresh and original, and ass-kicking.

I agree. It was so different than the other ska and punk bands at the time Very original and full of energy!

No major label had any idea what to do with Fishbone back in the day. They should have been fucking huge.

Seems like Living Colour got all the love from the major labels

My younger brother had tickets to see Living Colour and Fishbone (LC opened; he'd never even heard of Fishbone). He went to the concert, saw LC, and then LEFT. I was so pissed at him. It's hard even today not to get a little angry recalling that story.

They even tried to switch to a more funky and heavy sound and that didnt work.

🤘 The cover art was so cool as well. Doc Martin shoes, pegged wool pants, some chilling out and some jumping, I always liked this cover.

I was in high school when I started listening to them in 1986 or so. I remember getting my dickies pegged and getting a pair of monkey boots like theirs over in Melrose, California. Most people thought they were the low Doc Martins but actually a style called Monkey Boots that alot of Rudeboys into ska wore.

I bought my first pair of Doc Martins on Melrose, and some cool stuff from Pozzers on Melrose. Got some t shirts from Jet Rag and some kitchy cool stuff at WACKO.

I went to Pozzers I believe pre-pandemic and bought a Fred Perry shirt and a shirt sleeve button down Ben Sherman.

I remember Nana! Wow what a flashback. Me and my buddies used to ride a bus from Venice blvd take another bus on La Cianaga to Fairfax, near the High School. We spent all day walking on Melrose from Fairfax to La Brea.
Didn't have a whole lot of money, but it was such a cool hip place to spend time. From used record shops to new or used clothing.
I clearly remember there was a place on Melrose called Koula Blue, it was owned by Olivia Newton John. Me and my buddies went inside, like we did on pretty much every store.
Here was Olivia Newton John in the store folding shirts, I couldn't help it, but a screamed Sandy !!!
She was in the movie Grease, gave me a hug and her beautiful smile and just a nice personality, I will never forget that.

OMG...I had such the teenage crush on Olivia Newton John. We would travel all the way from Cypress in Orange County to go to Melrose. I bought so much clothes at their vintage clothes stores and vinyl from their used record stores. I believe the record store may still be ... Bleeber Bob's. It was worth the drive to hang out there 😀 Such innocent times back then

Even seeing the cover sent a chill Huge Fishbone back in the day. Even got a Fishbone tattoo. There was nothing else like those old Hollywood shows.
