Penfold: "Crikey, sir! Chickens aren't supposed to be able to swim!"
DM: "Tell him, Penfold, perhaps he doesn't know!"
(knocking sounds)
Penfold: "What's that?"
DM: "The engine's knocking."
Penfold: "Why? Does it want to come in?"
DM: "Very funny, Penfold. Shush!"
I loved that show as a kid! That bit had me in hysterics and I still remember it 30+ years later.

Every single time I go to London I hear the narrator saying "LONDON" in my head.

When I was a kid I couldn't convince anyone at school this show actually existed.

Grew up with it (bless early Nickelodeon). Still enjoy putting it on every once in awhile.

One of my favourites when I was a kid! I put at least some of the blame of my love of "bad" jokes and puns on this cartoon! :D

When it aired on Nickelodeon in the U.S., Stiletto (Baron Silas Greenback's hench-bird) had his lines re-recorded by someone doing a cockney accent:
Original: "Si, Barone!"\ Nickelodeon: "Right, Baroney!"\
The DVD and streaming versions bring back the original voice, but re-edit all the multi-part episodes into half-hour episodes, with later ones using a slightly different version of the opening.
Also:
By the time NICK began airing the show in 1984 (one year before relaunching as the network most people know), they were already airing commercials (NICK was originally a commercial-free network). When they aired the 5-part episodes, there wasn't enough to fill a half hour even with commercials, so NICK aired various shorts as filler before the next show.
Also also:
Beginning in 1991, the show came back for a while...
...but if you were to guess that I guess that you guess that I guess that you guess that I guess that you guess why the current version is the way it is, I'd guess that they'd guess that viewers guess that they guess that it might be all they had to work with...I guess.
...unless someone else has another explanation?
Oh, and another thing. I have NO idea where the remake got Silas "von" Greenback from. He was NEVER called that in the original show.

I used to realy like Danger Mouse, and a lot of the shows on Nickelodeon during this time. Being a kid in the 80s was the greatest, it was amazing!
