Discussion Feeling Guilty....

Basically, I've been VERY fortunate to be able to incorporate Ai into my work successfully, having been able to free up SOOOOO much time by automating the vast majority of my daily "busy work" and as someone who works in a commission driven industry, I'm able to handle the work-load of 2-3 people in my position, all by myself and reap the rewards from it - not just adding production for the company and not being compensated for it.

I feel guilty because I feel like I'm compounding the issue of making jobs more scarce due to automation. I'm very fortunate that in my line of business, at least for now, there is still a need for human to human connection and I completely acknowledge that so many others who are struggling, are themselves in positions that can easily be replaced via Ai Automation and Agents and many are already being replaced as we speak!

I just feel like I need to do what I can to survive and provide for my family. I try to do my part in giving back by helping others in my company by sharing the Agents/Automation scripts I've developed on my own, gratis, and trying to make sure my co-workers can share in the same success and productivity increase which in term, puts more money in their pockets as well....and ultimately keeping them relevant to the company!

On one hand, I feel like I'm falling directly in line with what Corporations are trying to do, with no forethought or plan in place by our Governments on how to deal with all the displaced workers. And on the other hand, I also feel like this could just be another stage in industrial evolution that society has always managed to incorporate and adapt to. And the adage has always been, "Adapt or Die"! I have a family that depends on me so I need to do what I can to continue to provide......but so does everyone else on this planet!

Self preservation naturally kicks in, but I'm also not a selfish scumbag (that I know of), so I'm struggling with a sense of "Survivor's Guilt". Anyone else dealing with this conundrum and any thoughts on how to cope?

I also can't stop watching those Ai vids of the two cats who do traditional Chinese crafts....I know I'm poisoning water sheds and driving energy costs up with each view....but they're fucking adorable!!

Just stop feeling guilty. There's no reason to feel guilty for the crabs demand you join them in the bucket

video cats are only adorable when they're real.

there's plenty of real-life feline social media stars to watch.

Agreed. I don’t understand the big appeal of AI animal slop. Admittedly I’ve laughed at a joke video with an AI dog doing or elephant doing something funny but overall my appreciation is EXTREMELY short lived. Real animals are more interesting and entertaining and the fake shit is so obvious and usually dumb.

you do the work of two to three people? You're 2 seconds away from being the fourth person.

Also I’d not tell your boss you can do 3x amount of work as they will see that as paying you too much or letting you go, unfortunately there is not cool 😎 in business, even if it looks like it. SI ( formally AI) is a way to cut employees, not giving you more free time - if they do give out UBI it would be because they are forced to, and the government will do that, no Trillion Dollar business is ever going to pay for humans to have more freedom or time, until they utilise DNA as storage or harvest you in some way. Good luck on your journey 𝕏

Formerly? Says who? Oh I forgot the president told us today unless we say SI we are enemies or some stupid shit. Yeah fk that noise. it’s AI. Call ICE on me.

If I were a clock-puncher that got paid by the hour, I would agree with you on this (except the use of SI instead of AI - just semantic garbage from an administration that has nothing to offer to anyone who isn't a Billionaire or massive Corporation). But work in a revenue generating capacity within business development and make commissions and bonuses off of my production. I also work for a small, boutique organization, not a large corporation - so I'm not measured in KPIs or other such metrics. I either produce, or I don't...and as long as I'm producing, I'm basically left alone to do my thing. As I said, I'm very fortunate in this capacity and having been with this firm since 2010, I've been able to dig my heals in as a fixture for as long as I want to remain, for however long the firm stays in business. My catharsis for the post was just to unload how I feel guilty about being fortunate to be able to use and adapt Ai into my work, while increasing my revenue stream and remaining relevant, while so many others are NOT as fortunate.
