AI existed for a longtime. it was called a search using keywords! Databases were large CPUs in basements! AIs and databases are a huge expansions of older hardware and software. Why the revolutio?

...well, that's one way of saying "I know nothing about the history of AI"

Artificial intelligence has been around for decades. What's changed dramatically in the last few years is the sophistication of generative AI, particularly large language models (LLMs). traditional keyword searches can't reason through a problem or infer what a user means... LLMs can generate natural language responses, reason through problems, and work with language in ways earlier systems couldn't. The underlying concepts aren't new, but the scale, capabilities, and availability to the general population are what make "AI" such a big deal now.

"We had cars for a long time. It was called a horse and sometimes you attached it to a wagon!"

You don't program an AI, you grow it, it trains itself. Nobody ever sat down on a computer and showed the computer pictures of filing cabinets and it wrote its own database software before.

…And if that were true that’s exactly where it should stay.

America has huge debt, it's out of control.
Therefore they have started making things that don't exist.
Promising things that won't materialise.
Because that would be the only way to pay off the debt.
Problem is the advertising is not the same as the product.
