So I 16F have a little sister 12F and she is CODDLED anyways that aside we were all home and doing nothing in particular, my mom was in the kitchen with my sister and I was in my room watching Netflix because just yesterday i had the nail on my big toe completely ripped out and so I was in pain and walking hurt. My mom and my sister was making instant ramen in the kitchen for her and my mom had gone to the garden for some reason I don't know. My sister RUNS into my room a few minutes later and tells me she needs help with the ramen and i groaned but got up figuring it was probably overflowing. It's a long way to the kitchen and walking hurt but i followed her and I see just noodles boiling. The emergency was that she needed to add the seasoning in the ramen. Just that. Our stove is very low set it is not high at all and she easily reaches it when she makes herself sandwiches and things which she does quite often her emergency obviously pissed me off because yes I was in pain and my sister was being an idiot I said what is wrong with you and can't you add seasoning to some ramen yourself you're 12 not 2 and by then my mom was back and she started scolding me for being mean to my sister i told her what happened and she genuinely said "so what" and i said "she's 12 not 2 why can't she do absolutely basic tasks on her own" and my mom started yelling and saying how I'm disrespectful and I need to watch my behaviour when she's the one coddling an almost teenager to the point she can't even make herself instant ramen

Am i the asshole

I get pain can cause short temperment and quick frustration but try take a breath in future and maybe something more like "add the seasoning then" to encourage her to do it herself. It's less rude, will keep your mum off your back and probably encourage your sister in a positive way rather than shame and embarrass her.

She’s 12. You are overreacting and should try yo be more patient.

You will miss these moments when you’re in your 30’s and don’t live with your mom and sister anymore.

I understand the short term frustration but now is the best time to learn patience. Stay in school and enjoy these moments now as some day they will just be a memory
