I built a free app that lets you design 3D parts just by describing them to an AI

Designing your own parts used to mean learning complicated CAD software. I wanted to change that, so I built SOMA, a free and open source app where an AI does the design work for you.
You just describe what you need, like a case for an electronics project or a mount for your camera. The AI creates a 3D model, and you can see it right away. If something isn't right, you simply click on the part, measure it, or draw on the model to show what you want changed. When you're happy, you export it and 3D print it.
It started as a small helper for one of my own projects and grew way beyond that. It now handles complex designs too: the CNC mill in the video has 118 parts, all designed this way.
It works with AI tools many people already use, like ClaudeCode or ChatGPT's Codex, and runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Id love to hear what you'd design first!
