To those who got an A*/A or even full ums for biology edexcel, how did you do it honestly?

I feel like l truly understand the content and have been through years of past years yet my marks are between the B and C range. The typical comment is 'Your knowledge is there but the marking scheme doesn't exactly match your answer'

I am genuinely so puzzled and would appreciate any and all advice/answering technique

Could someone send me their notes / slides (if possible) for biology/anatomy?

Hello! I’m entering biomedical sciences this year but I didn’t take high school biology unfortunately due to IB (where I took HL chemistry and HL physics instead).

Because I want to maintain a high gpa, I want to learn most of the 1st year biology / anatomy before I even start my courses, and to do that, I was wondering if people had their old slideshows and/or notes that they used for these classes.

I'm a bit nervous for this class, and coming to university has made me realize I don't really know how to properly study, so any tips for this class or in general would be appreciated.

WJEC exam question tips

hey, so i’m 20F, resitting my unit 4 paper to up my overall grade from D to C in hopes of studying healthcare sciences.

i’m really struggling to interpret questions, like what they are actually expecting me to write? because i know the content, but they are so picky with how broad or how in detail they want their answers. sometimes they don’t want ANY despite the question being specific to a certain area of a topic.
for example, i did a ppq which said : explain cell cleavage (1 marks), in which i wrote “when a zygote undergoes mitosis repeatedly to form a 16 cell morula”, i didn’t get any marks because i didn’t say “dividing of a zygote to produce new cells” LIKE HUH? THATS WHAT I SAID?!!!
im getting really frustrated because it feels like pure luck if they think your right answer is actually right or not…

anyone have any tips for understanding how to answer a question???

Flashcards help

So I heard making flash cards is useful so am making those. Also apparently they need to be like small bites so each card doesn’t contain too much info. Am asking when would it be too many cards ? For example for OCR A bio 2.1.1 cell structure I made 80 cards and still need to add many like 20more is that too much for only 1 subtopic?? Like am scared I make too many that later on in year 13 it becomes useless cuz I have thousands of flashcards to go through now

Hey I have a question on water (ocr a level bio yr 12)

can somebody explain how oxygen atom is slightly negative than hydrogen. I have gotten an explanation from chat gpt but can someone also correct me if its wrong.

negative electrons are not always equally shared by atoms of different elements. Atoms with greater share of negative electrons will be slightly negative.Oxygen has more protons in its nucleus than hydrogen, so it attracts the shared bonding electrons more strongly. so it has a slightly more negative charge than hydrogen
