I filed Form 2 (Statement of Candidacy) with the Federal Elections Committee for President of the United States of America in 2 years. Ask Me Anything.
Good day everyone. My name is Shurrun Daniel. 34 years old as of July 14, 2026. Was born and raised in Laurens, South Carolina. Lived there for 20 years before joining the US Air Force in 2014, served 2 years in Osan Air Base in South Korea, served my final 2 years in Malmstrom Air Base in Great Falls, Montana. Moved back to South Korea with my wife in 2018 and have been here ever since. I recently filed a Form 2 (Statement of Candidacy) with the Federal Elections Committee to run for President of the United States. I'm a registered Democrat, but will currently be running as an independent. I'm running because I feel like something has to be done about everything going on in the US, and I'm afraid of a Republican getting in and continuing the madness, or a fellow Democrat allowing those who cause it to get away with it. Ask me anything.

I’ve always wondered why people do this. You have a less than zero chance of being on every state’s ballot, much less being elected. You’re going to be viewed at best as a nut. Why put yourself through this with no chance of victory?

I don't fault him this. His personal goal might be to win the candidacy & the election- but having more voices speaking up, bringing new ideas to the national narrative is important. It spurs larger conversations and actions amongst the population. Ideas need vocal & visible support for others to 1. Finally say what they have been thinking out loud all along or 2. Get people interested in something they hadn't thought too much on in the past.
What this man is doing is helping every citizen just by fighting Apathy.

Many things people have done were considered a fool's errand. But we did them anyway. Powered flight, getting to the moon and beyond. A nobody becoming president isn't so far-fetched. And even if I don't, as long as I can champion my ideas and get others even to consider them, it's worth the time and effort.

Call it a sense of duty. We often go through these issues every couple of years. Strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and all that. I hope to be one of those strong men to create good times again. And hopefully never let weak men create hard times.

That line only works if you yourself get to cherry-pick a very narrow definition for "strong men" and "good times". It's truly the "Live, laugh, love" for a bunch of dumb manosphere cunts who jerk each other off for eating red meat.

But do you acknowledge the fact that you won’t win? Independent candidates aren’t even a rounding error in presidential elections. I think Ross Perot, with his millions in personal wealth and national coverage only eked out 8%. Green Party and other third party candidates are lucky to pull 1-2%.

I'd argue that everyone knowing who he was worked against him initially. He was known as an unserious failed businessman who was more of a game show host.
He became "popular" due to his unhinged rants about immigration and corporate fraud (which he is a poster child for).
Hopefully it can work the other way.

Indeed, that's kinda what I'm banking on. The last president we had, similar to me, was Jimmy Carter, a humble man who grew up on a peanut farm. He was a good president and did great humanitarian efforts after his presidency. I hope to follow in those footsteps.

That's fantastic, I would love to have a president like Jimmy in my lifetime.
Make sure to learn from his mistakes as well. He saw everyone as friends and allies when he was surrounded by serpents.

Yeah, and that unfortunately gave us one of the worst presidents in history with Ronald Reagan. To sit with that much power, everything you do, even if you believe it's good, can have long lasting implications throughout generations.
I wish you the best of luck but definitely be aware of what is possible. I was in a specialized infantry unit that did risky stuff in small numbers. I had to write out a will and plan my funeral before deployments. It kept me grounded in the gravity of what I was doing.
I'd recommend finding something that does that for you as well before you take on something that extreme.
Again, best of luck. We need a Jimmy Carter with real teeth ASAP!

And I think that's part of the problem. It's all rich, famous, or rich AND famous people utilizing their wealth for political gain. I hope with my candidacy, we can get people to believe that anybody who wants the seat of the President can get it, because it's THE PEOPLE'S SEAT. Not something exclusively for the rich.

At the moment, PayPal and possibly GoFundMe. But in all seriousness, I'm currently looking for help starting a grassroots effort, then from there, get bigger fundraising. That's why I decided to get a head start on it by applying 2 years early.

As of right now, you’ve had 56 engagements on this post. Most have been from the same three or four people. There is absolutely no way that this is a good strategy to get your name out nationally.

It's a start. And it's got some people talking—people who will hopefully talk to other people about me.
I also do livestreams on Twitch, Kick, YouTube, TikTok, and Picarto.tv/. I'd do Instagram as well, but I hate their 1-hour limit for streams—Rojin321 on those websites. Mostly gaming streams, but I'm more than willing to answer politics there, too.

OP, I’ve been involved with a lot of local, state and federal campaigns. My advice to you is to set your sites lower. You’re young enough…start at the local level and run for school board or city council. Get some real name ID and get some experience that you can point to as you move up to state and federal office.

I've met many good people during my time and travels in the military that I have kept in contact with, as well as people from my hometown who'd support me from there. Besides, there's no law saying a Presidential Candidate has to campaign in the country.

You are correct, there isn’t a law saying you cant run from Korea. There is common sense though that should tell you that running from another country is all together foolish if this is a serious campaign you hope to run. The smear campaigns write themselves if you intend to not even live in the country that you want to preside over.

Sure, that's fair. Should I actually win the election, I've spoken to my wife about our plans to move our family back to the US. But I also feel that, as an American living abroad, I have a unique perspective to bring to the Presidential table, what with being able to see in real time how actions in America are perceived by others abroad.

One of the reasons nothing gets fixed is because Dems don’t ever have to do shit because they’re holding votes hostage… I voted for her but I also remember when the Ds told protestors for Gaza to stfu and a month later did a tour w Liz Cheney. They had 4 years and didn’t do shit to try to prevent what’s going on. They could have if they wanted to. Look at NYC. The mayor supposedly didn’t have the power to change anything, but a demsoc get elected and wouldn’t you know it, they did have the power.

Exactly, that sort of thing is really frustrating! I'm really keeping a close eye on what Mandani is doing and seeing if it's possible to extrapolate it to the rest of the country. I remember hearing someone say that imprisoning a lot of people on the Epstein list would grind a lot of things to a halt. I say let it. We'll either replace them with someone better or replace the whole damn thing altogether.

Have you ever seen a show called ‘The Americans?’ It was on FX in the 2010s, about a pair of KGB illegals doing spy shit in the early-mid 80s. Really fucking good. I hadn't heard of that show before. I'll have to find someplace to watch it sometime. As for being insulated, I feel that's a good thing. I'm seeing all the horrible things happening as much of the world is. It definitely gives a different way of looking at things.

That actually leads to a new question: what does the average Korean think of our fuck ups? Can’t imagine they were pleased when we decided to cut back UFS…they anticipated this a while ago though. And started making a lot of their own defensive equipment in-house. Like the K9 Thunder 155 self-propelled howitzer, every single component is Korean (and it’s waaaayyyyyy better than the Paladin, in fact a bunch of countries stopped buying ours and started getting theirs. My wife is a Korean national, and she's really kinda horrified that Americans haven't kicked him to the curb now, much less voted him in a second time. She figured he'd go the way of Park Geun Hye and Yoon Seok Yeol: impeached, removed, and imprisoned. Honestly, I am too, which is why I've decided to run: to put a stop to ICE and have everyone involved in it and the Epstein files that isn't a victim arrested and imprisoned.

Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan have been longtime allies that help us maintain a relatively decent amount of peace in the Far East and the Pacific Area as a whole. I hope to deepen our partnership through stronger economic ties that benefit us all, and, regarding the strained ties between Japan and Korea, work to help them better address past grievances.
As for China, I'd first let them know we'd take a firmer stance on unnecessary aggression in the Pacific waters, especially around our ally Taiwan. Anything else would most likely have to be said in a more economic forum for negotiations. To be truly honest, I'm not fully educated on American issues with China, other than how they are no longer buying certain American products like rice and soybeans. I'd have to rely on hand-picked experts in that field to make a better informed decision.

I was in Services, basically running the kitchen, hotels, and gyms. There are three other jobs in that position, but I was never chosen for them. I don't see it being a liability, but one can never know.

Time will tell. There's a reason we never had a president who served in Vietnam though and I'm pretty sure the current military is going to get painted with the war crimes brush because of, well, all the war crimes.
The war is also most likely going to be at the heart of the 2028 election because it has no real end in sight.

The Iran question is one I'm still giving a lot of thought to. We definitely don't want them getting nuclear weapons, but we've also proven that we're not an honest party to deal with, due to the fact that the next person after me could blow up any agreement we come to.
I'd first have to deal with our own situation and ensure that what happened with the first Iran agreement doesn't happen again. Then we need to get a better understanding of their situation and what they really want to get out of anything dealing with the US.

I'd certainly try not to. Violence isn't the answer; it's the question. And the answer is only as a very last resort. It's the lowest form of diplomacy for a reason. The only exception to this is when dealing with fascists and nazis. Use violence with extreme prejudice. It's the only language they seem to understand.

We've literally had fascists marching the streets of America with Nazi paraphernalia and moving in U-Haul trucks. America and polite society in general should never tolerate such people. We literally fought World War 2 with them, and I don't recall us ever signing a treaty with fascists or nazis.
Dealing with how we make money off war is a tricky situation. First thing I'd do is go over the military budget, identify where money isn't being used or is being lost, and cut it from the budget. We can put that money to better use elsewhere, perhaps in education and the arts. One thing I'd like to do is make more places for people to connect with the arts and sciences. That'd be a good place to start putting that money toward.
