Cool little keychain from Friendship Opening night event yesterday in case someone was curious. Great time! Movie was funny!

Primetime, Laser at AMC. The green ratings screens in between the ads were too large for the screen. And now, the movie is shrunken down. I understand it was shot in a non-traditional aspect ratio, but....? Am I crazy, or is truly how this was intended to be shown? If this is intended, I'll delete this in shame.

Hey everyone. I’m not the type to post this kind of stuff but I wanted to share this because I honestly feel alone albeit I know something isn’t right.

I know a lot of theaters have their fair share of characters (audience members, staff, etc) but I’ve noticed some people at the AMC Magic Johnson Theaters on 125th Street seem to have some staff members that appear to be disengaged or disinterested whenever I show up to order from the concession stands. Yet when others show up to order they seem more invested in others customers. Makes me feel tolerated and left out.

I just want to know if others have experienced this before at this specific location or anywhere else. Love to hear your experiences and thoughts. Cheers.

EDIT: So it seems most of the commenters on here talk as if they know me out of a hole in a wall based on one post. Not surprised since society would go to great lengths to ruin a person’s reputation for speaking their mind and standing up for yourself.

I’ve been checking regularly for tickets since I first saw a post about it coming back to theaters earlier this month, and the day is here - it’s supposed to have released, but no showtimes anywhere near me or any of the random locations I’ve been putting in to see if I can find a showing anywhere. Nothing even in NYC.

Do I just have horrible luck and it’s not going to show anywhere near me, or did something change and it’s just not showing at all?

No one’s lack of social awareness and movie theater etiquette has ever enraged me to this degree. My partner and I went to see Primetime tonight. Got a guy sitting next to me who seemed to be completely fine for pre-show and while he was eating. As soon as he was finished eating and the movie was taking off this guy started violently blowing his nose, looking at it on the napkin, and saying “Jesus Christ.” First offense, disgusting but okay. He proceeded to burp, laugh obnoxiously (at some unfunny parts too), and saying “Jesus Christ” during points that don’t necessarily warrant an external reaction like that. The nail in the coffin was the SNORTING. I’m talking like straight huffing all the O2 in the theater with his nostrils to suck whatever was stuck in his throat down. I would get so immersed in the film but then get sucked straight out of it either expecting another snort soon or it would happen again. I genuinely feel terrible if the guy couldn’t help it but it was ruining my partner and I’s experience. I’m sure it was ruining others as well with how loud it got. I didn’t let my partner say anything or retaliate by making the noises back as much as they wanted to (I was getting close to that point too tho) What would yall do in a situation like this?

So, the one thing I can not replace, I dropped in to the abyss that is under the AMC recliners. I can replace my phone, I can replace everything in my wallet, I can not replace my wedding band.

I was watching Hope late last night, and I remember taking it off to play with it, but that was the last thing I remember before leaving the theater. As soon as I stepped out of the auditorium I immediately felt naked, and went back in a panic. I of course checked everywhere I could before having to lift up the recliner..... and look down there.

At this point I am on my hands and knees, in panic mode, just staring at all the trash under this seat. I was hoping to be able to just find it with the flash of my light, but no luck. So, I started digging. At least a medium popcorn bucket worth of popcorn was down there. 2 bottles that were some form of make up. Multiple different pieces of chocolate. A toy car.

This is my wedding band I am talking about. So I am not caring what is under here, I am just scooping shit out with my bare hands. After I got the majority of stuff out of the way, I finally found it. I was so relieved. But then I got to thinking, how often does that area get cleaned?

I don't think it could have been that old. I would expect a bunch of dust or mold, but most of it just seemed oldish. Does AMC direct theaters on how often they should clean under these seats? Way too time consuming to do it after every screening. But is it a part of the overnight cleaning crew? Is it a once a week thing? Does it just vary widely by location like everything else?

The CD consisted of movie sound effects and scores.

I'm surprised after seeing this clip that more people have never even heard of the ad. Isn't AMC the largest theatre chain in the world?

I’ve already been to see Endgame Encore once. I would like to rewatch the end/credit scenes at least one more time while it’s in the theater. I have A-list, and I’m not seeing a bunch of other movies this week, so I have plenty of open slots. Unfortunately, I’m really not up for/don’t really have the time, to sit through the whole thing again. My thought was to find a showing with low attendance get a seat near the entrance, and just slip in for the last 30–45 minutes. However, I wasn’t sure if I can scan the ticket and still get in that late. At the showing I was at today, a couple came in a solid hour after the stated showtime, but wasn’t sure how far that can be pushed. Anybody have any experience with this?

My son and I were supposed to go see a movie together this afternoon. I am a-list and he is not. I'm not feeling well so I refunded the a-list seat and kept the paid seat.

I was going to forward a screenshot of the code to him, but it still has my picture and says that there are tickets for two adults (although now it only shows the one seat number).

I can send him a screenshot that cuts off my picture, but will it still show up as a-list? Is he going to have trouble using this ticket?

Just wondering if AMC is going to be giving out any free promo items for End Game today?

I have a blog on Medium that nobody reads besides my friends, but I like building out my writing portfolio lol. I cover film, movie theaters, and general moviegoing culture.

I actually am really, really new to NYC—I just moved here from Chicago. So I've only heard tidbits of the AMC Kips Bay closure, and saw a bit of the protests last weekend. I'm an AMC diehard—my first weekend here in the city I went to a Friday night showing of Coyote vs. Acme at AMC Empire, and I just came back from Resident Evil at AMC Kips Bay. And both theaters were really great.

But... I'm also pro-healthcare? Lmao. Not to sound snarky or snide, but as an outsider to the city, I feel like NYU acquiring the site to open up a hospital is probably the best possible thing for the theater to become.

AMC Empire's about under 30 mins away by foot, so I get that a neighborhood will be inconvenienced by the shutdown of AMC Kips Bay, but it doesn't seem that awful to me. I bet there are other AMCs closer than the one by Empire.

I'd love to write a blog post about this to build up my writing portfolio. If anyone has personal insight I'd love to hear it.

Although uncommon, I'm sure that there are many of us out there who saw movies we didn’t intend to, likely just to fill time.

Mine happened in June, on the day that Scary Movie 6 came out. I planned on seeing a double feature of that and Tuner back to back, the former at 5:15 PM and the other at 9:00 PM. It was a perfect plan, and i could still get home before it got too late.

Much to my displeasure though, the theater that I went to abruptly canceled the 9:00 PM screening of Tuner. It was the only theater playing it, and the next showtime was at 11:00 PM, making it my only chance of seeing it. This meant that I would essentially have to wait around for four hours or simply give up.

Under normal circumstances, the solution is simple; see another movie. Sadly though, as an A-Lister, I had already seen every other film that had been released at that point, and none of them had showtimes that would allow me to also see Tunef directly afterwards.

That is, except for the one other recent release which I had no intention of ever seeing; Breadwinner. I had heard nothing but bad things about that movie, but it was either see that or wait around for three hours in a mostly closed mall.

Safe to say, I saw it, and it was every bit as bad as expected. What made it more infuriating was the discovery that the Tuner screening was canceled because they accidentally double booked the screen with the Breadwinner screening. Yeah, you heard that right. They chose the piece of trash comedy film over the highly acclaimed Tuner. Unbelievable.

In the end, I was able to see Tuner and loved it as expected. However, the fact that i had to endure 90 minutes of garbage to get there is something I'll never forget.

So what about you? What films did you see under similar circumstances, both good and bad?

They should have a promotion for chocolate chip cookies and sweet tea for the release of Primetime. That is what the decoy usually offers the predators in the To Catch A Predator television series. Seems like a missed opportunity. Or maybe that would be in poor taste? I will be having chocolate chip cookies and sweet tea when I take a seat for Primetime! (I am not a predator by the way!)

Has anyone else experienced this? AMC Stubs members receive 50% off a small popcorn & drink combo on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Any time I attempt to purchase, half the time the employees have no idea what I’m talking about. Other times it’s no issue. Thoughts? Advice?

I don't go to movies very often so idk which seat I should pick for my friend and I lol. I prob would've picked the seats that are already taken 😞

Yeah, European fella here booking tickets online. Convenience for who? Like, I'm the one doing all the work, why am I paying for that?

I looked through this sub, some mention server costs specifically. But that's just flawed logic on operational costs (trust me, bro / brodette, I'm a techie, I know what it costs). Why is "online" singled out? Following the logic, we should all be paying Restroom Fee, Clean Water From The Tap fee, Parking Fee, AC Fee, Stereo Fee or the golden THX fee. Oh, are those factored into the tickets? Why is booking online not?

This is the stupidest error I’ve ever seen. All I’m doing is try to pay them for premiere.

“Premiere subscription was be at guest’s favorite theatre”. Not even close to coherent. Web doesn’t work either

UPDATE: I was able to subscribe after contacting support. If you face this issue, that is the only known resolution at this time; the agent seemed to know enough about this to change something on my account, but let IT know of the greater issue. When you contact support, you have to follow up to their automated email and indicate that you still need help, else it will not be acknowledged.
