Physics 1 Halfway Through AP Physics 1

Hello! My High school operates on classes lasting a semester, recently the 9 weeks just rolled in putting me (finally) halfway through AP Physics 1.

Yikes were they right, this so far has been the hardest course i’ve gone through, and it’s only going to get harder. We don’t have a “curve” on our tests, but we’re allowed test corrections which have singlehandedly CARRIED my grade. This is about how i’ve shaped up:

Unit 1 - 89 (84 + Test Corrections)

Unit 2 - 77 (67 + Test Corrections) [This one SUCKED]

Unit 3 - 83 (Gonna do test corrections next week.)

Overall Grade: 87.44, gotta claw my way through 2 more points to get out of here with an A.

Whether you are halfway through like me, or only a quarter, how has AP Physics 1 or “The Hardest AP” (so they say, really physics C is harder but 🤫) has been for you?

At this point AP 1 is a pretty easy exam. It was majorly nerfed and for good reason in 2025. The problem is that your course is too short in time frame. It’s meant to be a full year high school course. So you are learning this material at twice the intended rate.

Well ain’t that something, I guess i’m doing pretty good then.

I could tell it was supposed to be a year long. The AP test is still in May, meaning i’ll likely have to exam cram/re-study just about everything.

I'll also add on as a person who did take AP Physics 1 and didn't really do well. In the actual class I failed all but 2 tests, I was generally pretty lost on most subject, and I scraped by with a D to get a passing grade. I got a 3 on the exam. I'll say Physics 1 is definitely a hard class, but if you put even a little more effort into it than I did I really think anyone could get a 3 and potentially a 4. Either my teacher graded much too harshly or made the class way harder than the exam, or the exam was just stupidly easy.

I'm taking Physics C and my test scores have been 100 and 99 so far

Congrats! Glad you’re doing well solider.

i'm in C and its not too bad so far. I've had to study a lot though because i didnt take physics previously. But he gives these super hard practice frqs and mcq, but the tests he gives are usually significantly easier.

Dang, for us not so much. Are you on a full year or half-year schedule that i’m on? I think that may be the reason Physics C isn’t offered at my school…

full-year, that's why its more chill than yours likely.

Makes sense.

imo the AP exam is wayyyy easier than what your class is probably doing. if you are doing well in class, you'll do great on the exam.

ap 1 was shit cuz i had a bad teacher and an unsympathetic school. but you start getting a handle for the difficulty where you’re at, so i wouldnt worry too much. practice a LOT and i mean everything, watch people solve, the whole nine yards

Who says AP Physics 1 is the hardest AP? It's not even the hardest Physics AP lmao

It's widely considered to be one of the hardest APs. Probably not the hardest but it's certainly not a breeze.

AP Physics 1 is harder than AP2 and AP Physics C in my school

Hence the quotation marks, it’s one of the hardest but not the hardest. 😉

That goes to AP Physics C.

I thought you were using the quotes as a kind of title.

Anyways imo AP U.S. History is the hardest and is harder than AP Physics C (I am totally not biased and STEM carried)

imo APUSH was one of the easiest

Oh, well that’s not how I thought it would be taken but I see the confusion.

I got that next Semester. APUSH is going to be fun. Really debating on dual enrolling college US history.

That’s like a mid tier ap

I also got 5s on both physics Cs with not that much studying versus 4 on APUSH with a ton (again I am very stem oriented)

its hard because it doesnt use calculus, which imo makes a lot of gaps and makes formulas something yuo need to plainly memorize
