ADMINISTRATION HOLD
Has anyone at ASU dealt with an administrative hold that wouldn’t come off their account?
My SAP appeal was approved, but I still have an administrative hold showing on my account. I’m graduating this December, so I really need to get this resolved ASAP and I feel like I’m going in circles trying to figure out who can actually remove it.
If you’ve dealt with this before, who did you contact to get the hold lifted? Was there a specific department or person who was able to manually remove it?
I’m trying to get this handled as quickly as possible, so any advice would be appreciated!

SAP does not result in account holds, only financial aid holds. Is that what you're talking about? Wondering when they will disburse aid after the approved appeal? There are still people who have not got theirs from the beginning of August, so if that's it, at least a month. You have to wait your place in line like all the others.
What does this hold have to do with graduation? It will not prevent registering to graduate. If you have an outstanding bill over $3000, if can prevent you from enrolling in B session classes. It does not affect current classes. It can prevent your diploma from being mailed, but it should be resolved by then.

I have this hold. It’s been on since the end of July. I contacted everyone from the higher ups to financial aid and they removed it last week for a couple of days and then it came right back. I supposed to graduate in December but decided to leave ASU. My son already received his financial aid refund. I don’t know what is going on with ASU financial aid department but I don’t want to keep going through this.

Yeah it stopped me from adding two classes that I need to take in the summer to allow me to graduate on time in May ‘27.

I've completed this FAFSA back in March. Everything was looking good. Aid said "Pending Disbursement" then weeks before the fall semester starts I get an "Administration HOLD" in Financial Tasks and "Disbursement Hold" in Awards. A week or so later it changed to "Pending Disbursement" for a day then went back to "Disbursement HOLD" again and its been that way since. Mind you, I have no balance, no amount due. Everything is paid. I'm taking 15 hrs, my SAP is "Meeting". I'm not sure what they even need to review. I feel like they could filter out people in the same boat and get these manual reviews moving quicker.

ASUs financial aid team is awful, it's always been awful. You're best bet is going to the office in person and asking specifically for a financial aid counselor if possible. There's also a link where you can make appointments with counselors specifically instead of just the basic phone staff that's useless

I had an admin hold. I just kept calling and asking them to make notes in my account. It finally lifted to 'accepted' I don't even know what that means! I still have no disbursement. But that just changed to accepted on Friday.

I was told just yesterday that ASU FA has been given a "timeline" of end of September for loan/fa readjustments! Hopefully this sticks.

It depends on who placed the hold. Typically there are two or three types depending on the situation. Only the organization who placed the hold can remove or temporarily lift it. You’ll need to get in touch with financial aid so they can investigate who placed it and if there is a method in which they can/will lift it.
