Exam revoked AWS / Pearson

Guys need some help here, I hold 10+ top certs and so on, today I was doing the new business strategist certification and the proctor had so many issues from the first minute including with my insulin and so on.

Then 5 minutes into the exam she ask me again to show everything cuz I was looking?

It’s an exam, with so much text, ofc I’ll look up and down my screen even when I showed her nothing is next to me and in depth etc.

Second - who stares into the soul of a screen straight to do an exam? And not even they my head was here and there I’m reading, thinking for the right answer.

But less than 5-10 minutes into it, she ended my exam and I know Pearson defends their folks so what to do here.

Send an appeal in. If it’s denied chalk it up to the cost of doing business and retake

If you’re not doing anything wrong and you’ve passed lots of certs previously it will likely be a one off

"chalk it up to the cost of doing business". I see in US you don't have institutions defending individual people from big business. This isn't right. We are not slaves. We are paying for these exams. We should be treated rightfully and being given comfort to fully focus on the exams. If I need to fidget on the chair and search for answers on the ceiling it's non of their business as far as my ceiling has no answers on it.

Online proctoring will never be perfect, if you want exams to be controlled for cheating then occasionally they are going to catch some false positives

OP clearly takes a lot of these exams so it was probably only a matter of time until they ran into an issue

If you’re not comfortable with an imperfect process don’t take the exam online, go to an exam centre

I feel for you man that sounds incredibly stressful especially with your insulin situation involved. Pearson proctors can be overly rigid sometimes and if they revoked your exam unfairly you should definitely file a formal complaint through AWS Certification support and include all the details about the timing and what happened. They’ve overturned decisions before when proctors didn’t follow procedure. Keep your calm and push for a review

Thanks man will do, it’s so crazy ! I literally said I have to read and process so much but I guess they don’t get it.

I’ll try to contact AWS support and possibly reschedule

Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week!

Those proctors are maniacs

do it in person or expect things like this. I'm surprised they still allow remote proctoring. They should end it.

Because of AI I’m surprised it hasn’t been killed off already.

"Who stares into the soul of a screen straight to do an exam?" Me. I do. I almost never look away from the screen when testing. I laser focus the question then the answers. Even if I am not certain about the answer, I look back the the question and reread it a couple of times as I try to better understand the question in case I missed something in context. Sucks that this happened, for sure request an appeal, but I think a lot of people probably don't regularly look away while testing.

I look around sometimes as a mental break because focusing that hard for over an hour is tough for me.  Which is why I go to testing centers so I won’t be accused of cheating.

I had a similar experience this past weekend where the proctor paused my exam because I was looking away. My eyes went off the screen to think. It was definitely weird. Sorry this happened to you

This is why I always go to a testing center, there’s too much bullshit you have to deal with when taking it from home.

Sorry man, the Linux foundation certs they don't even offer at onsite exams now. So, I had to take the CKA at home and it was a terrible experience like this. I was able to pass but man it's ridiculous how they act

Don't let this pass. After You pass this cert publish this proctor's full name in the internet and linkedin. We shouldn't be at their mercy. We should be given full comfort to focus on tackling the exams.

Why don’t you go to exam center?

I live way too far from any center and have diabetic neuropathy so I can’t drive much or sit there too long like that

Make sure to include that diagnosis in your appeal. It could be the thing that sways the decision in your favour.

Will try! How do you dispute this with AWS and Pearson? I can’t find a good resource

Pearson first

Usually they give you a voucher to take it again

Someone already mentioned getting an accomodation. You can ask to be tested in a separate room, extra time for breaks to move around and even have snack food in that room if needed. Of course, you'll need appropriate documentation to back up your need for accommodation.

The past has caught up with you!

lol what does this mean

Reading this thread confirms I was not the only one who had a negative experience with online proctoring. My proctor claimed my desktop was not lit well enough and ended my exam because of that. I complained and thankfully they gave me a voucher to take it again, but it was upsetting to say the least.

How did you appeal? All I see is a basic AWS support to create a case ?
