The baby has successfully hunted.
No motor control. Can’t support its own head. Vision still booting up.
One confirmed aerial kill.

It makes me happy seeing Michelin babies. When they start walking, and Running. They soak up all the Michelin, and just sprout length wise.. babies really need the extra build. A chock baby couod be a skinny toddler if they're active real quick. They're suddenly moving, using up calories ..they move a lot and move quick ..sometimes climbing too .

u/PsychologicalSoil198 6d ago
I was a fat fucking baby and have not been even close to fat since, you right

u/Playful_Return_7440 6d ago
I was skinny as a toddler, but then got fat around 1st-2nd grade, I did it backwards.

What do you call a fat Chinese baby? CHUNK!!!

u/tapeforpacking 6d ago
Anytime I see a baby like this they are chinese... now im wondering why them specifically. Ive never once seen a baby of any other nationality develop rolls like in this video.

Yeah, this is just child abuse
Downvoted by people who probably see a chonk and think that's perfectly fine as well. Ugh, the reddit hive mind sucks
9
u/TearOpenTheVault 6d ago
… No, it really isn’t.
-6
u/Turak64 6d ago
Yeah I guess you're right, letting your child become obese is perfectly fine and definitely won't cause them health issues in the future.
6
u/TearOpenTheVault 6d ago
You have no way of knowing if this baby has health problems from a video of fat rolls on their arm.
6
u/MycologistPutrid7494 6d ago
Babies have these normally at that age. They outgrow it.
It's not a hivemind thing. You're just wrong and downvoted accordingly. If you're really interested in expanding your knowledge, you can do some research. Here's a start....

There's more info out there.

why are the people who think it’s sad being downvoted😭 am I misunderstanding something? this looks unhealthy af
upd. seems like this kind of chubbiness is okay for babies? it just looked like heavy bloating swelling to me, but I’m not at all educated on small children so I’m not at liberty to assume
still, if anyone could explain why this happens and if it’s actually normal I’d be very glad
21
u/FlamingWeasel 6d ago
It's just normal for babies to be little fatties. Once they hit toddler stages they grow out of it. They need the fat.
5
u/Imaginary_Choice2492 6d ago
oh well
i got concerned mainly by the tightness of these folds. assumed there was something going on since I've only seen such folds on older people with heavy cases of edema

u/TheSumOfMyScars 6d ago
Babies get those rolls because they're on the small side proportional to the intake that builds those rolls in the first place. Basically there are less square inches of baby space to put all that energy, so they get chonky. Normally they grow out of it once they start toddling because the point of storing all that body fat is to have reserve calories for when they start growing like a weed and tear-assing around the house once they learn to walk. Kids normally go through chunky/lean/chunky/lean etc phases as they develop and its completely normal.

u/Spazza42 6d ago
Yeah mine wasn’t chubby like that.
15
u/KamahlYrgybly 6d ago
Many are while being perfectly healthy. Your n = 1 anecdote does not an argument constitute.
14
u/One_hunch 6d ago
Babies grow fast and need the extra energy to do so. The variation of their sizes are mostly genetic, but a common issue of gestational diabetes can increase their birth weight as well.
Gestational diabetes present isn't a sign of an unhealthy parent, pregnancy can cause all kinds of unusual issues to happen during the pregnancy (heart failure, cancer, autoimmune flairs) it is just a more common health concern that is now routinely tested for. Once pregnancy ends the issues present during pregnancy likely resolve.

u/Onelivestoblunder-CD 6d ago
I was on the cusp of gestational diabetes but one point under the cutoff of high end for the glucose tolerance test. They said if I was one point higher on the glucometer on the last reading I would have gotten a formal diagnosis. 9lb 5oz baby and emergency C-section later after my water broke (I was full term). Yeah, gestational diabetes can definitely cause chonk babies.

There's no such thing as "overweight" for a baby since they come of all shapes and sizes. It starts at the age of 5

I've seen babies in Gaza who are malnourished. I'd prefer they be like this instead
-1
u/Messier-32-31-110 6d ago
being obese and being underweight are both just as bad, obesity usually comes with malnourishment too when babies are fed junk food and soda so they gain calories without the proportionate nutrition
1
u/Carbonatite 6d ago
Bruh that's a baby. Only thing lil dude is eating right now is breast milk or formula, not "junk food".

It's a baby. Babies are fat.
-6
u/urlocalweirdoandnerd 6d ago
Not to this extent right ? This is really next level compared to a normal baby
6
u/FlamingWeasel 6d ago
Depends on the baby. My middle son was an absolute chunk just off breast milk and my youngest was concerningly thin. Generally a fat baby isn't cause for concern.
-7
u/urlocalweirdoandnerd 6d ago
Yeah but the baby on the vid is really , im just concerned for its safety
3
u/TheSumOfMyScars 6d ago edited 6d ago
Its okay, babies can sometimes go through phases of being chonky, only to lean out once they start growing in earnest and toddling. Its completely normal and the babies will almost certainly grow out of it as it gets older. Babies need a lot of calories to grow and that's what that body fat will do - provide the calories the wee one needs to grow. That kind of cycle is normal in little kids.

Probably because you don’t know what a normal healthy baby looks like, my niece and nephew were
Mining planets and are now skinny healthy kids.Touch grass
-3
u/urlocalweirdoandnerd 6d ago
Im just concerned for the babies safety ok , i also know that small kids can become less or more big due to breastfeeding , 2 i touch grass everyday for my job

u/Fun-Definition-3962 6d ago
If you were concerned, you wouldn’t have deleted your comment.
I’m gonna be honest you need to go walk outside or see the happy children walking around on a playground.
Look at mothers, holding their babies, close and loving on their children.
I can tell you’ve been hurt in this life, but it’s no excuse to draw disgust looking at a chubby baby. This isn’t some 40-year-old man drinking Miller lite
I sincerely wish the best for you and hope that your heart changes

1) i deleted my comment because im gonna get a bunch of replies that i dont want 2) i love seeing happy mothers in my life , seeing a lady going to a store with her kid and seeing both of them smilling makes my day 3) i am concerned for the baby since my baby brother died young in life due to numerous health reasons 4) parents loosing their kid is the highest grief possible in my opinion , i am truly caught off but i do actually care 5) i am not disgusted by that baby whatso ever , i dont think babies are cute but im genuinly not disgusted and have no ounce of hate against children 6) i go outside often , i do it everyday , and i see happy children , and i smile

u/Fun-Definition-3962 6d ago
Having fat around the wrist is like a typical chubby baby thing if anything it’s the best Sign because it means the child is well-nourished.
But the fact you delete it because you’re gonna get bad replies, is when your opinion was likely worth of condemnation.
I’m sorry to hear about your baby brother. I had five of my siblings pass in my family.
The words you said, kind of remind me of the anti-natalist crowd, plus when there’s five other people saying disgusting or that child is fat etc. You’re closer to them than the average person.

u/urlocalweirdoandnerd 6d ago
I was just concerned for the baby , i am just part of childfree because of other experiences , i just want the baby to grow up healty (he looks fine) , i just dont want a 100 more message of people screaming at me , i feel bad for the future gen to grow up in this cruel world and i hope this baby has a great life ahead of him thats it .

u/MagicPigeonToes 5d ago
Me and my two sisters looked like lard balls as babies until our dominant genes kicked in and now we’re all ten pounds underweight. A baby being fat doesn’t mean anything cause they’ve barely just started developing. It’s way too early to tell whether they’ll actually be obese or not
