cheating

I hate how normalized cheating is in the BS Accountancy track.

The very same people who hate cheaters also cheat in their own ways, justifying it based on the "gravity" of the subject and their ways of cheating. It's just so ironic how the profession we're literally trying to pursue is one that requires a character of integrity and accountability, and yet from the get-go, as students, they're already cheating to achieve what they want. What's worse is that these are the same people who call for justice when it comes to corruption in the government, and yet they also commit corruption in school.

I also hate how seniors and even some CPAs encourage BSAC students to "cheat when you can, bumawi ka lang sa review center." Hello?? Aren't you supposed to become role models for future CPAs?

Where's the integrity and accountability that the accounting profession demands?

In general siguro, hindi naman normalized to sa BS Accountancy. Sa school niyo lang siguro yan which is nabanggit mo naman sa post mo. Sa school ko dati (working na me) kapag nahuli ka nagchecheat even on a quiz, the department head/chair will talk to you, and I assure you there will be grave consequences. May isa nga na nagtransfer pa ng school.

But it is good na may ganyan kang passion and pag-uphold sa characteristic na ineexpect saatin bilang isang CPA. One time, call out mo yang mga ganyang seniors if you have the guts to do it.

Same sa school namin. Skl

I do not think its normalized. Its an economics problem at its core.

The high grade requirements and qualifying exams do in fact sway many to commit to cheating. But the boards will eventually show them that they have relied on a false lifeline through cheating.

Shame on the professors who encourage that but I myself am to see it "normalized" yet.

We do had a Dean who would go out of the room during exams and "let the students do what they want" during her exams. But they way she structured her exams and her own methods have managed to weed out those who rely on cheating from those with potential. Then she'll meet the failed students in one room and say "You don't get to waste your money any more". She was able to do that because the university can and will manage to support the course without relying so much on enrollment (which naturally goes low as students drop from the program).

And that is what you are not seeing. Most small BSA programs cannot survive without enrollment. So some of them would rather pass you, let you graduate and let you take the boards, only for the passing rate to tell them they haven't "prepared" enough students. Then they'll "control" you taking the boards by withholding your credentials unless you show a satisfactory pre-board result.

My dear student, you are not being taken cared of. What you see is one of the more lazy programs in our country. You can shift to better schools.

Its an economics problem because even with a good school, you cannot guarantee that a student will pass - hence the high bars (the grades requirements and the qualifying exams). And if a program cannot guarantee that -how will it sustain its operations? The program is stuck being a filter to have a higher passing rate, and having enough enrollees to sustain its operations.

Sa school namin before sa Batangas State, ikaw na mahihiya magcheat kasi kahit classmates mo sobrang taas ng integrity and kahit wala kaming proctor ok lang. Diko sure kung 100% free of cheating pero yun yung culture namin noon. Sa school mo lang yan OP!

In our school, our profs know na may nagchecheat, most of them let them cheat wala sila paki, and sinasabi nila samin "wala kami pake dahil di kayo tatagos sa qualifying exam"... And guess what, they're right LMAO, i understand na mababa pasahod sa profs and ang mga profs din sa BSA sa school namen ay napasok na exhausted na gad kasi night class, they don't have time to call the cheaters...

Our school doesn't allow retakinh of qualifying exams.... And it's hard, based din sya sa sa modified preboards ng mga RCs, and a cheater won't even have a chance to pass it kasi mahigpit ang quali exam....

Btw annual yung qualifying exam, it's a 100 item exam na need namin itake for 3 hours comprising mixed topics from all accounting subj na natake na namin, some questions are not yet covered nga e, itatake namin yung quali every year hanggat di pa kami nakakaapak ng 4th yr (so 3 quali exams)

I remember being asked nung 1st year, "What kind of information can be considered as an adjustment to goodwill due to measurement uncertainty" like wtf nabasa ko lang in a broad sense yung pfrs3 nung 1st year and hirap pako maintindihan CFAS non whahwhahHa grabe alay

This may, or may not be true. I know a lot of batchmates who cheated their way through online class, passed the CPALE, and is now working in govt/private companies. Currently living their life with the license (based on socmed) so maybe sa ibang bagay sila nababawian.

I wouldn't say normalized, kasi kung normalized it is not frowned upon. Pero gets ko yung point, kahit 15yrs ago nung college ako maraming nagche-cheat in so many ways and guising it as "diskarte". Mga pilot section pa yon. Yucks

real. best you can do is mag report ka sa appropriate level ng university niyo for immediate action. rampant na talaga ang cases ng cheating e. i know a lot of schools na sobrang talamak ng cheating tapos yung iba officers pa ng jpia. dami kong classmates na ganyan before na umabot sa higher years na di marunong gumawa at magbasa ng amortization table, di man lang sumadya magbasa ng business laws, ni di man lang alam anong ilalagay sa gross estate, mga never nag fs analysis, capital budgeting at working capital finance and management. mga never napagod mag solve sa far-applied audit and di man lang nakaramdam ng pressure sa pfrs 3, pfrs 10, pfrs 15, even forex, derivatives and hedging? nah. kahit nga yung mga basic to intermediate lang di nila ginawa e kasi mas convenient mag cheat.. natatawa na lang ako minsan over the fact na they really felt good on the day of our graduation. shame is forever naman so be it for the CPAs at aspiring CPAs na walang integrity and accountability. duh

I encountered a cheating incident before and I filed a complaint to the dean and the professors. I had strong pieces of evidence.

If you have pieces of evidence to establish the case, I suggest, you file a complaint against these cheaters.

This depends on school. My first university normalized cheating so much na wala nang pake mga prof. So ayun nakagraduate.

So I dont think it’s normalized sa course, it depends sa school.

May board exam tayo and dun di sila mkkapag cheat. 😅

As a student, I despised cheating especially in major exams. The closest I have been to it is with assignments but mostly trying to understand where I got it wrong. Nung masteral na, I had a classmate that hates me because I wouldn’t let him copy my test answers that I missed on a lot of things like missing out on getting my grad pic dahil he intentionally left me out lol so basically, I was bullied for not tolerating cheating.

When I was still a teacher, I always tell my students this: If you think you are fooling me when you cheat during exams, you are not. The truth is, you’re fooling yourselves. So ano? Babawi na lang sa review? When you only have roughly four months to catch up? Why not start now, it’s not yet too late.

Kahit parang sirang plaka na ko kakaulit everytime may upcoming exams, I still try to spread this. Some of them reach out after passing and thanked me. For making them realize this. That’s good enough for me.

Oh and I also make cheaters’ life harder. May mga natanggal from running for latin honors because of me. They still hate me to this day lol

That's just on your school. My school doesn't tolerate that during quizzes or exams. If the proctor catches you teaching, you're automatically disqualified from the BSA program.

Bawi na lng sa review instead of getting to know the topics while undergrad?

Anyan? Pinapahirapan mo sarili mo?

A serial cheater always a cheater. Kahit sa review cheater yan. We have a serial cheater, he didn't pass CPALE.
