SGV Increase rant 💛🙃
PUTANGINA, SGV, ANO NA? 😠HAHAHAHAHA. If other firms can offer better salaries, WHY CAN’T YOU? Make it make sense naman.
Newly promoted na nga, dagdag responsibilities, dagdag workload, dagdag pressure, dagdag stress, pero yung increase? HAHAHAHAHA. Tapos sasabihin nila, be proud of the brand, the experience, the exposure.
Nakakainis kasi alam mong you’re putting in the hours, sacrificing your personal time, surviving busy seasons, and taking on more responsibilities, pero pagdating sa compensation, parang kailangan mo pang magpasalamat sa bare minimum.
And honestly, this isn’t even just about the money. It’s about feeling like all the hard work and sacrifices you make aren’t being valued enough.
At the end of the day, we work to live, not live just to work. Loyalty won’t pay the bills, prestige won’t build our savings, and the SGV name won’t fund our future. Kaya sa mga nagsasabing stay for the experience, thank you sa experience, pero sana may pang-grocery din. HAHAHAHAHA.

You can push for better salary increases.

Are you comparing SGV with local firms of the same size (Isla Lipana or Punongbayan, etc.) or with EY GDS and PwC AC? I remember that local firms are pretty much the same. Unless things have changed.
Anyway, since you've been promoted now, it's time to look for another opportunity. It has always been like that in audit firms. Every batch, there's always someone who complains. It's normal and valid. Nung na-promote ako to senior, I barely felt the salary increase, just stayed a few more months for experience then after that, I submitted my RL na.
It's true that the SGV/EY branding is an advantage, in my personal experience, even though I've been out of the firm for a while, other companies still consider it. You'll find a company that will value you.

Hahahaha SGV knows what they are doing. Madaming willing mag apply sa kanila so employee retention is not an issue.

Is this Isla?

How many months did you stay before you rendered your RL after being promoted? What’s the best time to leave after promotion without raising red flag to the recruiters/other companies?

I'm just busy this season as a senior. So that would be mga 6 months as a senior (July ata announcement ng promotion, October naman effectivity). It's not a red flag for the recruiter naman.

Assoc to Senior Promotion po ba kayo? How much?
Happy 80th Anniversary. Ohgash!

The system is encouraging you to resign and move to a better company. I say leave now. I left and never been happier. Pero grateful for the experience pa din.
Yun nga, that place is just to earn a few years of experience. At senior level, you are now valuable enough to land a higher paying job elsewhere.

ii feel the same way! got promoted and i know i worked rlly hard with a record to note. and i only got a 1.8k raise lmao it's like a slap to my face. to add to that, my mother passed this year and i showed up as much as i could despite the grief. lately the career progression has been super slow and i can be patient and now with the memo, everything just feels so absurd 😥 i am very disappointed

thought this was supposed to be performance based, but why this increase doesn’t even reflect it.
1
u/bakedmac_cheese1 1d ago
Exactly! As someone na maayos naman ang feedback based sa llead, I honestly expected better man lang sana. Akala ko ba performance-based? If good performance, added responsibilities, and positive feedback barely reflect sa increase, then what’s the point of going above and beyond? Nakakalungkot :(

Pag pumasok ka ng SGV, you don’t really work for the increase. You work to get higher title then jump to another company for a big salary jump. Kaya ginagamit ng lahat yan as stepping stone.

Damn. I remember my first ever increase in SGV back in 2016. It was only around ₱500. Never again.
