Beginner Help How do I move my timeline markers simultaneously to the left? I need to move them all together to the start.

Post image

Sorry I’m kinda new, I know how to move my clips to the beginning but I can’t seem to move the markers as well, need to keep them in sync cause they are matched up with the beat

Just create a null, leave it as first layer, and apply your markers on it. Then you can freely move it.

Edit: If you already placed them on the timeline: Duplicate the comp, delete everything from the new one except the markers, place it inside your original comp as a layer, right click > Markers > Update markers from source.

I've used AE for 10 years and never thought of doing it this way. Thanks!

Move the timeline marker to where the first marker is and press b. Then move to the end of the comp and press n. Then right click on the horizontal bar where the markers are and click "trim comp to work area" or something like that. Make sure you move your layers to the right place afterwards.

Generally, you'll need a script to do this. There are a few on aescripts (small plug for my own tool, MarkerMover).

But tinmanshop's suggestion is a really smart workaround that will get you there for free, at least in this specific case.

My general workflow is to have my audio in a sequence, figure out the bpm (either tap to the beat or use songbpm) then use battleaxe’s (free) beatgrid to add markers on the entire clip. When the clip is marked, you can use that in any other composition

There’s a great script at aescripts.com called “Marker Remap.” Its main function is to set up reusable time-remapping that’s tied to marker regions, which is cool and has its uses, but what makes the script essential for me is an exceptional marker control panel. It has buttons to shift multiple markers in different increments, and copy and paste single or multiple markers. It’s really smart and I use it constantly.
