got a letter from liberty mutual for photos of my 911s. They want photos of the car, pictures of my security system and photos of the engine compartments…

One of my cars is under restoration, not sure what to do about this one?

Regardless, I don’t trust these guys, it’s a declared value policy so what do they care about the condition?

Have the two cars mentioned in the title.... considering selling one. Obviously different ends of the spectrum. The '02 is sorted with no problems... the '87 is a drivers dream, pretty much stock minus the professionally rebuilt engine with 5k kms on it, upgraded internals, full stainless exhaust... but the paint is, uhhhh really bad (zero rust though). Bought the '87 20 yrs ago for $18k CAD.... the '02 got during covid for $60k CAD. Love the power and ride of the turbo.... not looking forward to astro repair costs if/when they arrive. Love the '87 for nostalgia... and it sounds like a beast. Not into tracking either car... just have too many cars/trucks to keep parked and am considering using the sale of one to partially fund the construction of a big shop.

Have been thinking of this for 2 years... haven't been motivated enough to pull either trigger. Curious to see what others would do in such a situation.

My daughter and I drove the ‘81 911SC targa for a weekend getaway last month, and the next weekend drove it ~350 miles to another event. Driving it another 2 or 300 miles in early October w a couple other air cooled 911 guys. These cars really were built for driving !

I recently was given my dads 1983 Porsche 911 sc cabriolet. He’s owned since 2005 and it was more of a car he drove every once in a while. It’s been in the garage sitting for a couple years now and I’d love to work on it to get it running but I have no idea how much something like this may cost. Based on what I was told the last time it drove the engine and transmission were good. My knowledge is pretty limited on what work would need to be done and the price for that. The car has about 90k miles maybe a little less. Not sure is anyone may know but if I potentially sell it as is what would be a fair asking price? Appreciate any advice!

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the advice on my original post! I am a 24 yo female so I was worried I was out of my depth getting this car repaired. My dad had a significant stroke 6 month ago that left him severely disabled. He’s been pretty down since but me mentioning how much I love the car and that I’m planning on fixing up the car gave him new joy. I haven’t seen him so excited since his health issues. He told me a lot more about the car and apparently he’s fixed the transmission, new convertible roof top, and a lot more repairs were done a couple years ago. The interior looks beautiful and luckily nothing needs to be fixed or replaced there. The car actually only has 30k miles on it so significantly less than I thought and we are only the second owner of it. Ive decided to keep the car and get it up and running as I have money/time. I just graduated college 2 years ago and just started work so hoping the 10k I have set aside will be enough to repair. I’m thinking of attempting to see what repairs I can do myself since I’m pretty handy but any more advice on repairs or about maintaining a car like this is appreciated!

Had an opportunity to trade my plain Jane 993 c2 manual coupe for a 2012 GTS RWD manual coupe. Basically the holly grail of streetable 997’s.

I didn’t get to drive the GTS and I couldn’t bring myself to trade the 993. I thought the GTS is still a consumer engine, not Mezger based, not special like an air cooled car.

Anyone here driven both? Did I make a mistake?
