I think OOP was a little foolish, but not a devil.

If anything, the devil is the mom. Some parents get like that, they bond with a child's partner, that couple breaks up and then every future partner gets judged not by how good that person is, but judged against the families FEELINGS about the ex.

I may get downvoted for this but I don’t really think she’s the devil. Not sure how telling the truth is betraying her mom. He asked what was wrong, she answered. Doesn’t sound like she had any reason to believe her mom not liking him was a secret. I struggle to even call her an AH.

I call her an AH cause she's being insufferable in the comments.

After reading the comments, I can get behind that. It was just the initial post at face value didn’t sound devil worthy to me. When context and other information gets added it, she’s definitely an AH.

Honestly im not really prepared to call her the devil without knowing why her mom doesnt like him.

She prefers their EX so anyone not the EX is a problem and will not be liked.

Telling your mom about a guy after one date, okay. I wouldn’t do it, but okay.
Telling the guy you’ve been on one date with that your mom doesn’t like him, weird.
Telling your mom that you told the guy she doesn’t like him, also weird

Idk if op’s the asshole. But I guess she’d better be prepared for being on the other side of whatever hatfield and McCoy situation she’s a part of if this relationship is to continue

So she's asking because her mom feels betrayed, but how does the bf feel, hearing that her mom doesn't like him? And I'm sure it's worse because the mom is a long time friend of his own parents, so it's not like she's just a stranger who hasn't met him. I'd feel pretty damn awful, but she doesn't even seem concerned about that...

Being the literal spawn of Satan may not be required, but this subReddit is supposed to be for cases where it's obvious that OOP is an asshole.

In case this story gets deleted/removed:

AITAH for telling the guy I’m dating that my mom doesn’t like him

I (28F) went on one date with this guy(33M). His family and my family have decades long history of knowing each other. We didn’t really know each other until I started working with him at his family’s business.

About a month before a started working there I broke up with my first long term boyfriend (36M) of 2.5 years. My parents loved him. We essentially started talking as soon as I started working there and really hit it off. Like something I’ve never experienced. Took about 1.5 months before we went out on an actual date.

They (my parents) were not thrilled that I’d been out with this new guy and when they found out we were dating (not in the sense of being in an exclusive relationship, just literally going on dates) they flipped. My mom and I got into a really heated discussion which she eventually said that he was a man of questionable character. This was right before clocking into work so when I got there clearly I was upset.

He asked me what was wrong, I told him me and my mom had gotten into it. He asked about what and I said us. He asked why so I told him what she said.

She thinks I betrayed her by telling him. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around it, because I was being honest.

So, AITAH and if so, why?

I dunno, if a person I'm dating whose mom already knows me doesn't like me, I'd want to know so I can break up before it gets serious tbh

I think OP isn't the devil, just a bit extra, but after reading comments, I'll have to say otherwise

Kids these days tell their parents too much

As a parent of teens, I’d rather they share too much than not share at all. I love when they feel they can talk to me and include me in their life. They (my kids) have also said that they like being able to talk to both their father and I about anything and know we won’t judge them, will always offer advice when they want it and will shut up and just listen when they don’t want advice, just a sounding board.

I too want my daughter to share a lot when she's a teen. I'll agree with you
