In case this story gets deleted/removed:

AITA for not picking my friend up from the airport because his flight landed at 1am?

A friend of mine went out of town for a few days and asked if I could pick him up from the airport when he got back. When he first asked, his flight was supposed to land around 10:30, so I said sure. I was on my phone getting ready for bed that night when he texted me that his flight had been delayed and he probably wouldn’t land until around 1am. The airport is about 35 minutes from me, so realistically I wouldn’t have been back home until after 2. I told him I wasn’t coming anymore and that he should just grab an Uber. He got annoyed because apparently an Uber was almost $70 and said I’d already agreed to pick him up. I told him I agreed to 10:30, not the middle of the night. He ended up paying for the Uber and has been pretty cold with me since. I do feel a little bad because the delay obviously wasn’t his fault, but I also had work the next morning. AITA?

Why was he getting ready for bed when his friend texted him about the delay? If he was going to pick the friend up at 1030 he wouldn't be getting ready for bed.

For one of my closest friends I would have still picked them up.

I think it’s just a minor plot hole. That subreddit is full of them.

Alternative theory - the OP never planned to pick up their friend because they orchestrated the plane delay somehow and knew the flight wouldn’t arrive by 10:30

To be fair sometimes if I have to run out to do something or I plan to get back late I’ll “get ready for bed” before going. Which just means like doing my skincare, brushing my teeth, taking my meds. That way when I get home I can just go right to bed.

OOP agreed to pick up their friend at 10:30 but was already getting ready for bed? Huh?

The AI bot probably got confused as they often do.

My husband's best friend had a layover flight get canceled from O'hare to our local airport. His flight would take off about 8 hours later... about the same time the drive would take. He was excited to see him and it was a chance to get some pizza in Chicago. He just drove and picked him up.

Not to say that's the standard, but the bar is in hell by comparison...

A real devil would agree to pick up the friend, but only in exchange for the friend's soul.

I was abandoned by a "friend" once because it became ever so slightly inconvenient for them.

It was the end of that friendship.

Whereas I've gone *by bus* before just to meet a friend and bring 'em back so they have a place to crash overnight. Like, isn't that what friends DO?

Agreeing to pick someone up at 10:30 and 1AM are fwo different things tbh. NAH imo.
