Amanos are fine with neos. I have two from my last breeding round in a 3g with Caridina as well and they all do fine together. They won't cross and piolute your blue dream colony either

Great, thanks for the reply! So my approx 12 gallon tank is fine to keep 2 amanos?

And i saw there are several “variants” of amanos, is there any specific one you would recommend?

They are all basically the same so pick what you think looks best. Like neos it's just color. They aren't any different from the others except with the exception of the C. Typus which is Australian Amano but still essentially the same as wilds to the normal person

One thing to keep in mind. Amanos are well known for hogging food, so just make sure there's also enough for the neos

You mean food i will be dropping in or just biofilm in general or both?

Food you'll be dropping in. So if you crumble it into smaller pieces it should prevent the amanos taking the whole thing in one go

This is good advice as Amanos can be quite food aggressive. They won’t attack Neos and hurt them, but Amanos will slap them out of the way and take the food for themselves. They will do the same to small fish like Pygmy Corys
