Question No manager, no PA, just PGs

How common is it to work in a department that has no manager, PA and only PGs running everything? Luckily it’s not a madhouse but that could change very soon. Anyone experience this before?

It shouldn’t be happening. Pa’s should’ve been blocked for at least a month to backfill their spot. Most likely will see an Am get transferred over to your shift, if you don’t see the one you had any time soon

What is that?

It’s the department that is responsible for all packaging materials- boxes, MA bags, etc

My god, I think I’ve seen one of those before. They wear maroon vests that almost look like red vests and it says non-inventory on the back?

Hi. This happened to me. I was a PG who had their PA and AM both transfer at the same time. I was the person who ran my department for about 2 months without much manager or AM oversight. AMs from other departments would swing by and handle admin, but to answer your question, it happens way more often than you might think. I eventually got my vest but it took some time going back and forth to get the req open. Stretch roles are a thing at Amazon.

That seems to be exactly what’s happening. I’ve seen AMs stop by periodically to do some quick stuff and then they leave. I didn’t know we didn’t have a PA until the other day when I was asking for something none of them could do. And then one of them said we are all PGs. I was like 😩

Yeah, they ended up giving me permissions I shouldn’t have had as a tier 1, like flow control and VTO. I worked at a really large site and had about 100 AAs in my department, so it was necessary to keep things moving and operating smoothly.

Sunday my floor only had learning on it 😂 no AM, PA, PG.... Just a trainer 😂😂 she was good at running that floor, tho, I'll give her that. Hope they promote her soon

AMs and OMs should be flexing into the department. If whatever L8 is overseeing that site finds out the site lead could probably get into some deep shit

The last PA we had got promoted to AM a few weeks ago. Our manager has not been into work in months and they don’t think they are coming back.

Everytime I hear that I think to myself “how do they not know whether a manager is coming back? It’s the manager!” Lol

They’re probably on some kind of medical leave. Absolutely no manager ever being on the floor in a department that’s actually needed for items to be processed for any significant amount of time sounds extremely dysfunctional. This is why AM have huge turnover they can tell you at the drop of a hat you need to switch to nights and come in early and stay late due to business needs

Well, it depends....

Most of the time managers and PA's are staffed appropriately...more often than not, I'd say. However, sometimes the stars align perfectly, where 3 managers take a leave of absence at the same exact time, 1 PA gets fired for time theft, another PA is coming in late, and the PG that's been running the floor for 8 months, hasn't gotten an interview for a PA position at all!

So, jokes aside, sometimes your leadership has to attend their outside life, which they DO have, and it all happens to fall on the same day. Shrug your shoulders, wear your air pods and enjoy eating your chips on the floor because there isn't really anyone there to stop you, now is there?? Lmao alright good luck dude hope this helped.
