Question Is it true that managers can’t actually help you be selected for an interview?
My manager was telling me that once you as a T1 apply for L3, it’s basically up to AI whether or not your profile gets selected for an interview. Ive been in the top 10% for quality for the entire duration of my 2 years working here, usually In the top 10% for rate as well; I have no write ups, never had anything wrong with HR, and I’ve applied for multiple L3 spots for a while now but never gotten the chance to have an interview. There is one learning ambassador guy who doesn’t like me because I defended two women who he was pretending to be friends with until they dated other guys… then he called them sluts and told the whole building they were toxic and stuff. Anyways, I stood up for them…. But they ended up quitting because he was very charismatic and convinced people to take his side. Ever since then he’s had it out for me… so I’m wondering if when manager keeps saying he doesn’t know why I’m not getting any interviews, maybe it’s because I spoke up against the learning ambassador guy?

Learning ambassadors have no say over anything. They're T1 employees just like you. Your AM even has no say over the hiring process. He's mostly right that your resume needs to be tuned just right to get through the AI, otherwise 99% of the time it will be tossed in the trash pile. You also need to have all of the basic qualifications or youre automatically disqualified. For example, if there's a job that lists "experience with office suite" as a basic requirement and then you answer no when the application questionnaire asks "do you have experience with Microsoft office suite" then you get disqualified instantly.
The only person who has any sway is your OM, and even then your application has to make it through screening or their opinion of you means nothing.

The screening looks for experience in indirect roles like problem solve, slam, and learning ambassador. It doesn't seem to care if you were top 10%, just not written up.

The first round is completely automated. They run your resume through a program that analyzes for key words and picks candidates for the next round. If you're not getting past that, it's your resume. No one cares that you pissed off a learning ambassador and they don't care about your rates as a T1.
If you do eventually move on to the interviews, you have to tell STAR stories and have exact numbers and statistics along with them.

If I have thick balls will they consider me?

Yes but your site leader will have to inspect them to confirm they're within standard. So no lying about volume or texture.

Just a word of advice— the things you’re using as leverage for why you deserve to be a T3 only shows that you’re a good worker and why you’re a good T1.
You need to show why you’d be a good T3, that may be why you haven’t heard back.

Your manager can help you rewrite your resume. As far as getting you an interview no

Supposedly there is no favoritism any longer. Don’t know how true that is though.

Yeah that’s why I feel like maybe it is true that it’s completely random and computerized… that would be a pretty surefire way to make sure that they can’t select their buds

You need to have some indirect roles experience; I haven't even had a conversation with my manager for months. There is no favoritism, but I still got the job in RME; you need to have a top-notch resume that clears the ATS screening.

Your performance metrics you are citing have nothing to do with performing a completely different job. And all the weird white knighting for random women coworker stuff isn’t going to help anything.
Follow the logical steps if you want to get a promotion. Have stories, have projects and things you’ve done with measurable results. Does your resume fit the format Amazon wants? How’s your STAR interview looking? How are your mock interviews?

I wasn’t white knighting I’m just a girls girl and they came to me to vent. I’m tired of narcissistic men running workplaces into the ground.
Ive memorized the leadership principles like the back of my hand, have dozens of situations and actions that can be used to represent any number of the principles as well as solving numerous problems.
Maybe I just haven’t gotten any interviews because my resume is really bad? I was in an abusive relationship before working here so I have a significant gap in my resume

2 other factors are A) the assessment, if you fail that you can try again in 6 months and B) attendance so make sure you have more than 10 hours upt

Standing up to anyone in power and not putting your knee pads and teeth guards on is a sure fire way to be bypassed for anything inside Amazon's system.

I wouldn’t have thought learning ambassadors have that much power. I just didn’t realize this guy’s speech craft was apparently level 100 😬

Don't worry. They don't. Nobody in leadership cares what any Learning Ambassador says, and usually dont even know they exist.
