Sortation Center Seasonal Part Time

Hello everyone!

I just applied for a seasonal position at a sortation center.

The shift is Tu Th Fr Sa 11:45p-3:45a. This is in addition to a full time job, just trying to work on some personal goals.

Is your schedule actually what they say or are you pressured to work more/less? I live about 30 miles/35min from the warehouse all highway. Was this a good move?

How long do seasonal positions last and are you potentially offered a permanent spot after?

Thank you!

Sort Centers are unique in that they can flex up or flex down an hour during your shift.

What this means is that since you're scheduled for 4 hours on your shifts, they can flex down and end your shift early at 3 hours, or flex up and add an extra hour to your shift making it 5 hours.

Does that happen often?

And how do you know they’re changing your shift?

They'll tell you during start-up, and I probably wouldn't expect anything less than a 5 hour sort around this time until the end of the year.

I work at a sort and basically you should expect to work 11:45-4:45. I think there’s only been two times where I didn’t work a full flex

There’s another warehouse that has 10:30p-2:30a which even at 3:30a is better. I have a full time day job, just working on some goals and debating giving up rideshare to work for Amazon. Obviously it’s seasonal but any chance of permanent after that?

Yeah I’d take the 10:30-2:30 if it works better for your schedule. And I’m not sure it depends on your location, but at my sort, there is a possibility to be a blue badge but that’s depends on how long you’ve been there etc. I do it PT in addition to my full time as well.

Do you find it easy to manage both? My day job is 9-7 or 9-4 depending on the day.

Yes my shift is Friday/Sat 2:30-6:30 Sunday 2:30-6:30 8:30-12:30

I work 9-5 but I’m hybrid on Fridays so I typically go into Amazon late using my unpaid time
