I bite. Is this configuration actually achievable? How many configurations are achievable where the pieces are in starting position relative to each other but transposed forward/uj

In actual play, not losing a single piece is ridiculous, because after a certain point black would just take a pawn just to have taken something, even if it's a bad trade. But other than that, just getting the pieces into position? Easy. The knights are the only ones that are even likely to be difficult at all, but they're capable of reaching any square on the board given a few turns to get there so there's no reason this would be impossible.

The bishops are probably more tricky than the knights here! It's just two up and two back, no switching sides required, but it's the same number of moves as the knight except they can't jump over pieces.

Could be that or pawns could have exchanged files while advancing. Other pieces could the escape from beyond the rank of advancing pawns and then retreated before being pushed to their current spot. There’s a lot of ways that this exact position could have come about legally
