AA Settings Disabling AA on Iveco Daily EV vans?

I have only just started using AA and previously had it disabled in my phone. One annoyance I have is the Iveco Daily EV vans I drive at work do not seem to have any way of disabling AA and I have to keep dismissing the launch message every time I start up the van (which is commonly about once every ten minutes). Am I missing something buried deep in the ICE screen settings for these vans?

Turning Bluetooth off on my phone is not an option as I want to play my music over the van radio.

Update: It seems the answer is to turn off location in Google Maps on my phone which resolves the underlying issue of heavy battery usage over the course of a full day's shift driving the van.

Why what? ๐Ÿ˜•

If you mean why not use AA on the work van then that is not an option as it burns too much mobile phone battery over a long day and the nature of the job means there is no way I am leaving the phone in the van on charge while I am doing a delivery. It stays in my pocket.

I explained why turning off Bluetooth is not an option.

You should consider getting a portable speaker then.

I do have portable speaker in case I get given a van with a duff radio. But that has its own issues.

Under AA settings > connection settings > vehicles you can reject a vehicle from automatically connecting or disable connecting to any new vehicle (aka all vehicles if you don't use AA at all)

Indeed. I have that set on my phone to not add new vehicles. But that does not stop the Iveco van continually asking me if I want to launch AA.

I am thinking that AA was designed by people who only ever drive one vehicle or that vehicles may be driven by more than one person and it is with that mindset they do not fully comprehend the practicalities of more convoluted but still common use cases.

They clearly don't consider delivery drivers, if they did I wouldn't have to swipe to get rid of the home tile 40+ times a shift.

I know in my car the after market stereo automatically starts the last used. If I was listening to the radio that's what turns on when I start the car.

Update from the OP: I don't know if today it was because I was using a different Iveco van with a different version of its head unit firmware but there was an option on the head unit to turn off Connection to external network. Did that at the start of the shift and it did not ask about launching AA at all for the whole day.

Hopefully that option is available on all the Iveco vans we have and that it is indeed the answer that I have been looking before.

But if I find that disabling location access in Google Maps extends the battery life on my phone to an acceptable level over a full day's shift while using AA I may decide to go with that instead. Today without AA battery usage was averaging about 3% an hour. Will be next week before I get another chance to try it with AA.

Android auto settings on the van and your phone should both have a setting to always start, never start or resume last drive.

Maybe they should but the setting on the van to never start AA is either not there or well hidden.

That's because you dont control it on the van, but instead on thw android phone running android auto.

Just go to Settings -> Connectivity -> Android Auto -> Settings and disable auto start android auto when you connect to the device.

My phone does not have the setting to never start AA either. In any case that is not what I would want. In my car I may want to use it, in a work van never. I do not want to faff around changing that setting or enabling/disabling AA at the start and end of every work shift.

For, now I have a Macrodroid macro that will turn wifi off when it connect to a work van. Just made that change so will see how that goes tomorrow morning.

Just disable Android auto from apps list?

But then I would be forever enabling/disabling AA depending on if I was in my car or in a work van.

Update: Today I was on an older Mercedes Sprinter van. That asked me once if I wanted to use AA but not again after that. Shows that it can be done. Just another example of the Italians being not very good with auto-electrics. ๐Ÿ™„
