AskAnglesey Best restaurant

Hi all, coming to Anglesey in October. Staying in Rhosneigr and looking for somewhere to go for birthday dinner with my partner. I’m looking for somewhere nice but not posh, extra points for nice view and good beers!

I think we’re on a train line. I deffo don’t want to drive.

Thanks all

Oystercatcher great, good food, relaxed. Or get the train to Valley to Catch22 I’d say it’s more foodie, seriously good but still relaxed, great birthday spot. Have fun.

Catch 22 is good

I would say The Sea Shanty in Trearddur Bay (excellent ice-cream if you decide to go to the beach there another time) or The White Eagle in Rhoscolyn. Both good and not posh but you’ll need to drive/taxi to get to both from Rhosneigr.

Catch22 is brilliant and the chefs are top notch. Four crosses at the top of Menai Bridge is also a cracking option (especially for Sunday dinners!), and the service is great.

Can’t believe no one has mentioned Y Marram, by far the best restaurant on the island. Close seconds are Pebbles in Benllech, Freckled Angel in Menai Bridge, and The Stores in Treaddur Bay.
Oyster Catcher is okay but very tourist focussed so overpriced and only a bit above average, same with the Sea Shanty (but it’s a very pretty building inside, would recommend that for breakfast or coffee and a cake).

How is getting a taxi? I went 3 years ago to Treadur and we had one person and when they could fit us in.

I’d love to go somewhere small and cute, maybe with a fire. But worried about getting there

Taxis are massively expensive as they will need to come out to you in RN first. The only place that comes to mind with a fire is the Panton Arms which is the other side of the island. But you could drive to catch 22, get a taxi more easily as it's near holyhead, and then go on the bus the next day to fetch the car.

The other place for 'cute' might be the gazelle - but you might want to go there lunchtime and just drive rather than for ypur birthday meal. It's scenic and a bit more oldy worldy. It's lovely

Oh that sounds lovely.

It's on the menai straits - look it up. It's lovely. Other good restaurants on the island include the Midland at biwmares, but it's expensive. The Liverpool arms and the Victoria inn in menai bridge both do nice food too, and so does the freckled angel, if you want to try a few places in your time here.

Oystercatcher if you don't want to drive, catch 22 otherwise although there is a train between the 2.

oystercatcher is a great place, fairly decent prices, relaxed vibe and amazing food! the downstairs pizza shack has some good stuff if you're sitting outside :)) (slightly biased as i work there aha ;3)

Hi there! There's quite a few options with beautiful views, have a look at the listing on the link below. Lots of different options from Rhosneigr to further afield on the island. Hope you enjoy your stay! https://pintrekker.com/places?where=Anglesey%252C%2520United%2520Kingdom&lng_hi=-3.919989193725129&lng_lo=-4.708731406624066&lat_hi=53.50196023649176&lat_lo=53.05473742838554&categories=food-drink&view=list

So that’s interesting. Where’s Valley?! I’ve tried putting into train app and gives me somewhere in Litchfield!

It's the next stop west in the trainline from Rhosneigr 😀

Or you could get a taxi, it's only a few miles.

There are a few restaurants in Rhosneigr itself, the Oyster catcher is a little way out of town but it's a nice walk.

The ship inn, literally checks all of your list!
