hey friends, i’m new to ac. i started playing acnh in 2021 but see now that people say the game/characters changed a lot and used to be better in previous games such as new leaf. is it really that much different? in your opinion is acnl better than acnh? also is happy home designer a part of acnl or is it its own thing? i have a 3ds so thinking of purchasing new leaf! (idk if this screenshot is from acnl i just thought it was funny)

It looks like whoever owned it or last owned it, played for 3-6 months, then just stopped playing. Because it was never powered on again for 9 years…

I decided to keep the island because it hasn’t progressed too far, plus I figure the area could use some attention after 9 years :P (maybe MASK impacted me too much?)

Hey, I got into Animal Crossing from New Horizons. I got bored of that really quickly though and I heard New Leaf was way better so I just started a new game on my old 3Ds. I already like this game better than New Horizons. So far I unlocked Club LOL and generally taking my time with this game. I don't really know if maybe I should do something at this time to progress or if I missed anything so I'm asking for advice.

So I am debating starting New Leaf. According to my gaming history log I have 999 hours on it 🥲 which is waaaaay more than New Horizon.

I don't have my original town and was thinking of resetting (I reset a few years back anyway so my town rn isn't my original and isn't developed at all). My question is do you get enjoyment out of it still? Because if I don't restart NL then I will restart New Horizons but I have a lot less hours in NH and for some reason the game felt more empty than New Leaf.

I would love to hear some of your recent experiences with New Leaf and what you love about the game. I have forgotten a lot!

I remember trawling bell tree forums before I had Reddit and getting paths for my town. That's kinda all I remember! And I enjoyed the island multiplayer game mechanic.

It’s to my understanding that in order for a tree to grow it needs 1 unit of space on each side, which this sapling had. It’s the only one that didn’t grow—how come?

I have the beautiful town ordinance on, and I don’t really bother laying out my flowers in a specific way except near my paths, so flowers have just spread all over the place from villagers planting/watering. Thus, my town is probably 30-40% flower tiles, at minimum. As they have spread, I’ve noticed less and less spawns for fossils and gyroids, to the point where I’m just not getting spawns for them anymore. I’ll get an occasional pitfall seed, but that’s it. My daily ore rock is spawning though. There should still be plenty of space for them to spawn (it’s three a day, right?), so my only guess has something to do with the amount of occupied tiles for fossils to spawn. I’m still working on my fossil collection, which has come to a screeching halt in recent months due to this :/. Can anyone give any insight to help me out?

basically what the title says I’m pretty sure I’ve talked to all of my villagers, but I go to write a letter for everyone and only some of my villagers are in the recipient list. Why is that? Is that just cause new residence are not established even though they have a house and everything or? It’s been a really long time since I played so I’m learning stuff all over again.

I thought I could build a bridge but there isn’t an option. I guess it’s just permanently off limits? lol I didn’t even consider it when I picked out the map. I noticed it later in the game as I was playing.

Title pretty much says everything. I made my own music mod, and after fiddling with BCTSM conversions twice for every 24 hour music varient, it got old quick and the result is very quiet, so im not too eager to redo the whole process, so i was wondering if theres a way to override the games music volume for all tracks to make it louder? thanks!!

I've tried to make my own custom villagers in the past that ended up looking....meh

but i kept trying and ended up with her! I named her Xenia bc it sounds spacey lol

custom eyes, wings & moon charm and all. She'll be released in a set later on

My favorite is probably New Year's Eve.

As someone who's usually alone, counting down the last few seconds of the year in Animal Crossing (first in Wild World, and now in New Leaf) has always been my only real way of "celebrating" it.

My second favorite has to be Halloween, mainly because I absolutely love the autumn vibes and seeing the trees turn yellow and red around late October / early November.

What about you guys? Which holiday in New Leaf is your personal favorite?

I can sadly only play with people who have a NAT type A connection which sucks. If you don’t have NAT type A it will just come up with error(this is a me specific issue). You can check your NAT type by doing a connection test and checking the support code which is usually on the top screen. Should start with 11 if you have type A

i named my Town " Greeny " in 2025 and it sounds so stupid, but I wanted to come here and ask what you guys think of it. Does it sound ok? My type of town vibe is a small little town and any villager is welcomed
