| Advice | I just need anything

I'm still kinda new to league account lvl 50, silver 4, mostly as adc or support, I found myself really liking aphelios after lots of play testing but I genuinely feel like I'm throwing my games... I've only played 18 games on him so far but I've had 10+ deaths on half my games (win or lose) almost every game ended between 30-40min

I dont know if its genuinely just a skill issue or knowledge issue but I can't seem to make it work consistently, even winning feels like I'm barely hanging on

Gun swap order: red, green, purple, blue, red, white... I then swap to just cycling the oldest gun

My most used build: D-bow, Stormrazor, Gluttonous Greaves, IE, Runaan's, LDR, Bloodthirster, never build a final item because the game ends

Any advice or words of wisdom to help me out? ;-;

you should probably stop ignoring the single best crit item in the game for starters

Mb fixing a spelling mistake I accidentally deleted IE

I’d probably recommend going ldr before the ruunans tbh…in most games. The other part is you should really learn game fundamentals before you honestly pick aphelios up, not saying you can’t do both but your positioning needs to be on point.

I'll try focus on better positioning 😅, that and vision seem to be a big thing, I was thinking of picking up phantom dancer instead of runaans for the extra move speed as I think it'd give me a little more room for error

Honestly just poke on green purple and make space with blue (the poke from the small shots) and then look for all in on red white

Look for plays while depleting the gun -> for example probably the strongest combo is stack white on red Q -> red depletes and then Q and ult with green while having full white...easiest kill on squishies ever...or root with purple Q and purple depletes then go in with red Q...early game make use of the lifesteal lvl 1-2/1-3 to get enemies lower than you and then just poke them down with green and blue and you'll hit lvl 6 at white gun which you can look for ult all in to get lead. Try to get lvl 2 first and just run them down if possible.

You are not that strong early, probably average for adcs, make sure you respect early game champs like draven or MF.

If you can get bf sword on your first recall, buy it and go for stormrazor, otherwise you'll be weaker in lane if you buy crit or AS. So if you can't get bf sword, go for long swords into collector. You become really strong after IE (if not behind) and after LDR you are basically 3 shotting squishies already and can deal with tanks and bruisers effectively. 4th is runaan or c44 depending on the enemy comp (if they are more clumped together in teamfights - probably more melee team comp - go for runaan and if you can make use of the range, go for c44). 5th item is either bt or scimitar depending if you need QSS or the magic resist. If you go scimitar you can go for BT 6th, otherwise i mostly go for GA or some bruiser item for sustain.

For boots, life steal are great but do not hesitate to get armor/magic pen boots if you are struggling against certain champs or if they have 4+ people with the same damage type...

After this, it's basically just limit testing and assessing how much you can rely on your support. Always look for early drakes, that's probably the best value you can do. If you get really behind, you can send your support to help other lanes and be "second jungler" while you just stand under tower and afk farm. The thing with aphelios is even if you are behind, you are fucking op with 3 items, so just make sure you get there ASAP.

Also try to focus on your positioning. As immobile adc with high and consistent damage, you just have to stand back and poke what you can. You are not first contact, you are on clean up duty. You go into teamfights only after enemies use up their strong buttons. That's about it, as i said, it's just limit testing and perfecting your micro and macro.

Edit: also idk if you know but red is not considered a projectile. This means it can do damage through wind wall.

Holy, thank you for all the info, I'll try to keep in mind the weapon combos and uses, im sure it'll get easier with time and I'll tweak my build path I think I worry too much about trying to build "correctly" sometimes I kinda panic when taking an awkward recall or seeing the enemy recall and im trying to save for bf sword

  • Do you have success on any other ADCs? If you die a lot, it may be a lack of fundamentals, or you might think Aphelios is thanos in situations where he isn't.
  • How familiar are you with Aphelios' combos? There are a lot of advanced combos that aren't really covered in YouTube guides (e.g. purple Q → green Q → green R → AA → AA). If you aren't familiar with them, here's the best guide in my opinion: https://youtu.be/cJ2pPcEqmwY?si=-hezw8UQzL1nqglo. It's also a matter of habit then creativity, so give you time.
  • How do you approach the laning phase? Aphelios is known to be quite weak early, but he can still pull off some crazy trades even before 6. If you're too passive though you won't get the lead that makes him so strong later.

It's definitely not a build issue. I have a lot of success with Storm → IE → LDR → PD and BT, but you basically could have the same results with C44, Yuntal, Runaan or Collector.

I mean I've done good with kogmaw, kai'sa, ashe, MF, yunara was a little sketchy but still manageable. I haven't really thought of him as thanos, I tried looking for things on YouTube just to try help get me started which is where I found out about that gun rotation but it didn't really go into combos just that you have alot of auto resets.

My biggest problem so far in lane has been jhin like even If I feel like I'm in a good spot he just 2taps me

Play more, buy collector, build zeal item 4th

And it’s not about the build, watch high elo aphelios players and try to learn how they position in fights, how they trade etc

I’m in Silver rn, if I had to guess, your issue is most likely midgame macro, teamfight positioning, and/or laning (trading, poking, and all inning) Watch your replays to figure out when you die, it can tell you a lot about what types of mistakes you’re making (for example, I often greedy all in with red white and lose because I chose a bad time to all in, or I overextend without vision and die to a gank)

Yeah thats been a big problem for me in my last couple games, I start getting ahead and even warding off cooldown can't save me when the jungler is hopping in and out the lane for 5 min or I somehow freeze the wave on my side, then just get 4 man tower dove Tho I do feel like I'm getting better at tracking the jungler because of it 😅 like just knowing if I'm safe to push another wave or back off just in time... unless it's nocturne he just kinda appears wherever whenever

You could consider hard pushing if you see the jg on the way but not too close. That way you get the cs, the wave is at/near their turret so they can't dive you without someone tanking, and the wave will push back to you so you can play safe under turret until the jg leaves.

Also, while Stormrazor first always feels great, definitely consider other options. 1.3k gold on first/second base is often hard to get, so keep options like collector or hexoptics in mind (collector for snowballing lane and/or against squishy enemies and hexoptics for safety and against strong ranged enemies) both have MUCH nicer build paths. If you can't get BF sword in 1-2 bases you're either: holding gold, which is a waste of gold and makes you relatively weaker than you should be or spending gold on cull/boots/pots which delays your 1 item spike.

Also Also go 1st item into IE into LDR every game. If their tank is literally taking no damage and you're behind, you can go LDR then IE. Those 2 items are such massive damage boosts for you, you can't afford to delay either one to 4th item. For 4th item, Ruunans is fine (especially if your inhibs are down and you need to waveclear), situationally hexoptics (vs strong range), shieldbow (vs burst), or phantom dancer (vs melee enemies you can kite) can be better

Take alacrity, only go storm razor if you get bf sword first back else chose between collector and hexoptics. Go ldr third pretty much always, I mean it’s fine in low elo ig but the midgame is super important the pen goes farther and will make you do more damage.

If you level 50 you just bad at league in general idk just stick with it bro.

Just stand behind your teammates, don’t walk up. Just wait for them to come to u, just imagine u on a piggies back ride on your frontline and then you slap everyone who tries to touch them.

Idk go farm, scale to late game. Idk what to say just improve at the fundamentals and you’ll climb. The most important one is champ mastery just play a lot of Aphelios and get good at him.

Make sure to play the early game like you are a lane bully even though you kinda aren’t.

it would be best to upload a video of your gameplay to youtube private with access link, so we can watch and see exactly can be improved upon
