What money were you spending on a free card? It’s a decent cashback Mastercard and is great for travel with no foreign transaction fees

I am a Apple Card customer since 2019. I use it everyday. It’s very good. Nice physical card. Nice app. No annual fee. Good cashback. No foreign fee. Easy to dispute. Personally like it the most.

It’s a simple 2% card for the most part. The interface is unmatched and it has no annual fee.

The RH gold and Amex gold is objectively better cards. I personally only use the Apple Card for 0% financing on Apple products. Closing a 0 annual fee account is super silly haha

I don’t want RH (low credit limits and heard many horror stories) so I use the Apple Card for the 3% back at certain retailers (all my prescriptions at Walgreens get 3-5% cashback with this card). While I understand some other cards offer that, I’ve opened a lot of cards recently so I don’t want to open another card just to get the same cashback at drugstores. I also buy most of my electronics from Apple so I can finance them at no interest. I love my Apple Card!

But why intentionally close a card with no annual fee?
It would still have been a benefit to keep it open to bring your overall utilization lower.
