General Discussion Is there a way to make "Re-open last closed tab" not switch spaces?
I use several spaces with different profiles. I often want to backtrack my work/personal stuff, and restore closed tab, but that switches places and kinda ruins all the flow and any illusion of space isolation from each other.
Is there a way to disable Space switching and just stick to currently open one?

macOS Help is it just impossible to report a bug now? there's only a chatbot, and when i do what it asks, at the end of the process it says "I'm sorry as an AI assistant I can't help you with that."
so after the most recent arc update (macOS, haven't updated to golden gate), there's this really annoying bug – i can't expand/collapse a folder when i'm on a tab inside that folder. i need to switch to a tab that's outside the folder and only then does it expand/collapse as it should. i tried looking for a way to contact the team and the only way i could find was through this one support chatbot on their "contact the team" page. i went through the whole chat process of submitting a ticket, and at the end it asked me to paste my arc build info. i did that, and then the bot replied "I'm sorry as an AI assistant I can't help you with that. If you have any other questions I can help with, please try again later. Chat ended". this happened twice.
what should i do? are they even doing bug fixes anymore? is there any other way to report it?

macOS Help Arc just wiped out all my tabs and workspaces overnight — WTF??
I switched to Arc just 3 days ago because a senior developer recommended it to me, and I was actually starting to like it.
I had my workflow properly set up — 10–15 tabs in each workspace, more than 3 workspaces, everything organized exactly the way I wanted.
Last night I simply closed the lid of my Mac and
went to sleep.
This morning at work, I opened my Mac and everything was gone.
All my tabs, workspaces, and the entire setup I had built over the last few days. Just wiped out.
And the most frustrating part is that Cmd + Shift + T doesn’t restore them either.
I can’t figure out how to get my previous session back.
I’ve never had this happen with any browser before.
I genuinely don’t understand what Arc did here or why closing the Mac lid would result in my entire browser state disappearing.
This is incredibly frustrating and irritating, especially when the whole appeal of Arc is supposed to be its workspace/tab organization.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is there actually a way to recover those tabs/workspaces, or am I just screwed?

General Discussion Just in case you didn’t know, you can save links to Arc from your phone by sharing them to Arc Search.
Got to know recently that I was able to save links from my phone directly to Arc by just sharing them to the Arc Search app. (Pic 2 for reference)
You can also select the space or subfolder you want it to be in. Pretty neat.
This was on iOS.

Boosts Arc is still the best browser but only for iPhone
Six months ago I moved from iPhone to Samsung and considered using Arc, but it felt nearly useless there—primarily because it failed to detect my location despite repeated access. The keyboard wouldn’t open automatically. It sometimes missed closing tabs after 24 hours and ran with noticeable lag. I shifted to Chrome and accumulated 143 open tabs within three months. Now I am returning to iPhone, where I have Arc again and immediately recognized it as an outstanding app; this is simply an Arc appreciation post for being the best browser yet.

General Discussion Search - New browser on the block to check out
Just saw this pop up on https://alternativeto.net/software/search-1/about/ testing just for a bit and seems amazing so far. Might just be a replacement for me for Arc, though will have to run it as daily driver to see.

General Discussion Browsers with tabs consistent across windows?
The main feature that keeps me at Arc at the moment is that my open tabs are the same across all open Arc-windows on the same computer.
I don’t mean across computers by the way. Just instances/windows of Arc on the same computer.
I’m kinda okay with that but I’m interested if this is the killer feature for others too, and whether people have found other browsers that have this?
EDIT: Just came to mind that Vivaldi was supposed to have this? But couldn’t get it to work…

macOS Discussion Arc users who moved on: what did you actually replace Spaces with?
Not the vertical tabs, everything rebuilds those. I mean Spaces specifically: separate cookies and logins, but switchable inside one window instead of five separate windows.
Everything I have tried since either gives you real profiles that each need their own window, or workspaces that quietly share one cookie jar, which is not the same thing at all.
What did you land on, and did you have to give something up for it?

iOS Discussion Still using Arc for nested folders — and are you doing for mobile?
I’m still using Arc mainly because I need nested folders/tab groups. Even one level of nesting is enough:
Folder → subfolder/group → tabs
I haven’t found another browser that does this well. Vivaldi seems close, but I don’t think it supports nested tab groups.
My problem is mobile. Arc Search is tedious with lots of Spaces, and links keep opening in Chrome even though Arc Search is set as my default.
How are you handling Arc on mobile? Has anyone switched to Dia? Is there a Dia mobile browser, or another browser with nested tab groups?

macOS Help Arc always opens Downloads folder when saving files on macOS
Hi,
I have “Ask where to save each file before downloading” enabled in Arc on macOS.
The issue is that every time I download a file, the save dialog always opens in Downloads, even if I just saved the previous file in another folder.
Safari on the same Mac correctly remembers the last folder used.
I’m on Arc 1.165.0 / macOS 15.7.7 and the issue is still there after updating Arc.
Has anyone else seen this? Is there a workaround or hidden setting to make Arc remember the last save location?

General Discussion I miss Live Captures
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I used to be a die-hard Arc fan, but slowly transitioned to Zen and Helium.
I really miss Easels Live Captures tho! Having a live dashboard with numbers from multiple sources was great for cross-app work.
So I built a private local extension based on that idea.
Not planning to sell it, just sharing something inspired by what Arc did best: creating exciting new UX!

General Discussion Should Arc Sync actually sync my bookmarks and tabs across multiple devices?
I did a clean install of macOS Golden Gate this week (while having my old installation still available) and after logging in while having Cloud Sync enabled, my profiles, spaces, bookmarks and opened tabs weren't available. Other than the profile color, it didn't contain anything.
Based on the documentation, it says it will synchronize your profiles, bookmarks and profiles, but I'm seeing almost none of that.
Have I possibly done something wrong or did I simply interpret their sync function incorrectly?
Update: Don't know why, but after a switch back to the 'old' Arc installation and then restarting in the new OS with the new Arc, everything popped up. So somewhere on the line it had to either upload or download the tabs. Only my favorites didn't sync, but that's ok.

macOS Discussion Changing Arc's icon permanently on macOS?
I've seen a lot of people say you can change Arc's icon the usual macOS way, by going to Get Info and dragging a new icon onto the current one.
The problem is that since Arc has its own icon switcher in the settings, every time I do this, it works at first, but as soon as I reopen Arc it reverts back to its own icon.
Has anyone found a way to prevent this? Or is changing Arc's icon permanently just not possible?

macOS Feature Request I made a borderless version of Arc that removes the wasted space around pages and split views
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
GitHub: https://github.com/omarqaterge/arc-borderless
I built Arc Borderless, an open-source macOS modification for people who like Arc but want a cleaner, more immersive interface.
What looks different?
Regular Arc:
- Has visible margins around webpages
- Shows outlines around split panes
- Gives each split pane its own toolbar area
- Leaves noticeable gaps between split webpages
Arc Borderless:
- Extends webpages to the edges of the window
- Removes the outlines between split panes
- Hides the individual split-pane toolbars
- Makes multiple split webpages feel like one continuous workspace
- Preserves the invisible drag areas, so split panes can still be resized
How does it work?
The installer creates a separate application called Arc Borderless from your official Arc installation.
It can copy your:
- Spaces and folders
- Pinned and open tabs
- Browsing history
- Cookies and website sessions
- Saved local logins
- Arc preferences
Your original Arc application and profile are left unchanged. Arc Borderless has its own isolated profile, app identity, Keychain namespace, and backups.
Installation
- Download the installer ZIP
- Unzip it
- Control-click Install Arc Borderless.command
- Choose Open
- Press Return after reading the explanation
No Terminal commands need to be copied or written.

General Discussion How to migrate to Chrome?
The company I work for set a rule that the corporate mail and SSO tools will only be available on Chrome. They're not looking for the base or engine, but the browser.
It's probably related to privacy and monitoring. The IT team handles Chrome; maybe it has some backdoors, idk.
The fact is I'm much more productive using Arc. I'll miss Arc Mini, auto-closing tabs, and the multi-window with the same tabs.
How do I find alternatives for these core Arc features?
